The hotel is situated in a beautiful remote setting - deer grazing 10 feet from the back door. The food was excellent & varied with a wide choice of hearty dishes for hillwalkers! All the staff were very friendly & helpful. It’s a great place to access a very beautiful area with Munros, amazing sea lochs & beaches too. We couldn’t get to Cape Wrath & managed to miss trips (our fault!) to Smoo caves & Handa Island but Ben Hope & Ben Klibreck were magnificent in the sun.

Stayed for 2 nights as a base for the Northern leg of our driving holiday. Superb food. Friendly staff. Friendly owner. You do need to take your own a**osphere as it is a little quiet but that suited us.

Enjoyed our stay at this characterful and historic hotel. The staff were brilliant and very welcoming. The food was excellent and there are plenty of lounge areas to sit by the fire. A lovely find on our journey through the Scottish Highlands.

Nice hotel, average room but one I had was way overpriced as quite small, average furniture and arrangement not brilliant, couldn’t use desk as awkward access and small tv sitting on it at a funny angle. Damp musty smell in room. Food nice but not anything special again based on price paid. Wine extremely expensive (£14 glass) for a normal Malbec and large measure provided was what would expect for a normal measure. Nice staff serving on but all appeared to be novices and not yet fully trained so service not wonderful.

We received a warm welcome from Henry, who showed us to our room. The room was warm, cosy and had everything we needed. Although quiet, we were offered a good choice for evening meal and enjoyed drinks by the fire in the lovely lounge. After a good nights sleep we were given a hearty breakfast. We stayed 2 nights and could not fault anything. It’s slightly off the beaten track, and deserves to be busier, but worth the detour.

Amazing from checking in to checking out. The most relaxing hotel you could ever imagine. Nestled by a beautiful loch it offers everything you need. Great menu. Incredibly well cooked and presented Great wines and of course great whiskey. Wonderful lounge areas in which to relax. Breakfast just as great If I am in this area again, definitely stay again

The room was ok with a comfortable bed but the black mold in the shower really creates a bad impression. Check in was wierd, I went in a side door that said entrance. There was a bell, which I rang. No response, waited 5 mins and then went looking around and found reception - which is well hidden. No signs to direct you to reception, just a bell that no one answers. No lights on inside which just adds to the deserted and unwelcoming impression. On the plus side, dinner was excellent in the restaurant.

What a way to run a business We booked into your establishment via *********** Upon receiving confirmation and payment made we turned up well before checking in time and waited for the 15.00 checking in time You never showed up the place was completely shut I tried sending you emails you never replied I tried phoning you several times no answer just a voice mail option We wasted another 40 minutes waiting for *********** to try and contact you but they couldn't Having looked around the place fate was probably on our side because it looks nothing like the nice pictures you display It looks very run down and grotty but because you failed to show up we could only see the inside through the dirty windows I look forward to your response because looking at your replies you clearly a man that has a lot to say for himself so your explanation would be welcome Many thanks

Stayed over last night, friendly staff, good food and super comfy bed, could do with updating the website and showing the bar meal menu, no complaint with the meal i opted for the burger and my wife the fish cakes, both tasty and plentiful. It wont be everyone’s cup of tea to stay but I enjoyed it.
