We stayed two days in the hotel Castillo El Collado in Laguardia, which is a small castle just at the city walls of Laguardia. The rooms we stayed in - Sancho Abarca - was furnished in an 19th century style, very nicely, also the bathroom with old tiles and facilities in the same style. The view was fantastic, and we slept very well and quietly. But what made the hotel special was the host, an older gentlemen, very friendly, helpful, agile, caring, who could not have been nicer! We felt so welcome and spoiled! After checking in, we got a welcome drink of Rioja wine, and he offered us to visit the castle tower to have a nice view of the area, and for breakfast the next morning our table was overfilled with small plates of fruit, cheese, ham, sweets etc - just very very nice. Unfortunately the breakfast room - which was very nice - is not used as restaurant anymore, and the restaurant downstairs underneath the castle was not convincing, neither from the quality of the food nor from the service. The hotel can not directly be accessed by car, but one can park around 100 m from it to unload the luggage, so no problem, and there is a small parking area nearby which can be used. Access is via a stone staircase, which may be difficult for disabled persons. If we would go a second time to Laguardia, we would for sure come back.
