Playa Blanca Beach Mate

We arrived to the villa late and driving up to the villa made me anxious as it was like driving up through the ghetto with lots of abandoned houses around us . When we got to the villa , we were looking forward to our ‘ welcome pack ‘ there wasn’t one left for us and sadly there was no shops open near us ( we eventually found some ‘ welcome items in an ikea bag ‘ The villa itself was clean , there were some minor maintenance issues such as loose plug sockets / cracked tiles / loose shelving but none of this affected the use of the villa . There was a nice BBQ area which we used . The kitchen wasn’t that well equipped it was fairly basic , again didn’t affect us that much as we mostly ate out . The pool area was good our kids loved it but it’s not covered and does get dirty with all the sand etc . We stayed for 10 nights and the pool was only checked once 2 days after we arrived . By the end of the stay the pool was looking pretty manky . There is no air conditioning at this property , we thought this would be ok as fans were supplied but we were sooo wrong ! Lanzarote had extremely high temps for the time of year and it was like sleeping in satans armpit at times . The shop / supermarket is about a 10 minute walk away the marina roughly about 20/25 mins away , probably ok if adults or older kids my kids just moaned the whole time because of the heat ! We ended up hiring a car which I would recommend for this villa . When you are in the villa the area is quiet and you don’t see the abandoned unfinished properties around you unless you go out into your balcony . The walk from the villa into marina / shops isn’t the most pleasant as the path / road down is literally covered in cat and dog excrement , so much so we named it cat s£@t alley , it’s not the most pleasant smelling when it’s hot ! Again you don’t smell this from the villa . All in all our stay here was ok and we did have an enjoyable holiday ,however I wouldn’t book again due to location and no air conditioning.

Beach Mate Villas are just what you need for a relaxing week in the sun. They are ideally located for those looking for a quieter getaway. About a five minute walk to a well stocked super market. The walk along the promenade to the marina will take about 30 minutes if strolling but we'll worth it for the evening meal as there is a variety of restaurants. If getting a taxi back ask for Villas Camelot as that is what the locals still know it as. The villa has everything you could need except for air conditioning. Portable fans are in all rooms with a ceiling fan in the upstairs bedroom. Loved the walk in wardrobe upstairs. Didn't use upstairs terrace as it was too hot and didn't have any shade. Utility room was handy as you could use it to change into dry swimmers before going in doors. Would recommend the walk to near by Playa Mujeres beach. Great snorkeling and the sand was like being in a desert. Start out early and take plenty of water as there are no facilities. Would of liked somewhere to leave our cases after checking out but we're fortunate to have lovely neighbours who looked after them whilst we waited for our later flight home. Don't be put off by the surrounding area of the villa's. You really will feel like you have found a little oasis.

Just had a week in one of these Villas, it was spotlessly clean, well equipped and in a great location (Yes there are a lot of unfinished Villas but have a walk out and there are many more than those surrounding the Villa). Two supermarkets with 5-10 mins walk, a small bar and a Cafe. Location provides for a lovely walk along the sea front path to the Marina 15-20 mins or if you like the Centre another 15-20 mins further. We had late flights and after speaking to Ana late checkout was arranged. We are already planning our return. Hopefully at some point in the near future work will start on finishing more of the unfinished Villas. A great holiday was had by all of us, thanks Beach Mate!

We stayed in villa number 8 for two weeks in July 22. The villa was easy to find and has really good facilities with everything you could need.. There was good WiFi that supported 3 Netflix sessions at once without issue, the pool was really nice and really comfortable with plenty sun beds and shade. There's also an outdoor sofa which is constantly in the shade so really good to cool off from the daytime heat. The villa is located about a 10 min drive from playa Blanca and I'd definitely recommend a car if you're staying here, especially if you have kids that won't walk far. There's a lovely walk along the promenade with starts only a 5 minute walk away, it takes about 30 minutes to walk to the centre of the town from the villa. There's two good super markets within walking distance from the villa. Looking at other reviews before we came we were worried about security at the villa, however it's a gated complex and the villa has a house alarm so it was never an issue. Also there are some half built villas in the area but nothing that would be an issue. Finally, customer service from Anna and George was excellent with any minor issues quickly resolved. We look forward to returning in the future.

Spotlessly clean modern villa. Quiet area. Very warm heated pool (chlorinated, not salt water). Villas look they look like they were built fairly recently. So in good condition. The area is very quiet with lots of unfinished villas in the area, but no active building work when we were there for 7 days. Villas are about a 5 minute walk to the nearest supermarket. 10 minutes walk to a rocky beach. (Playa de las Coloradas). Strictly speaking you don’t need a car (we didn’t). Taxi about €6 into the main Playa Blanca town with many shops & alfresco dining. There are also lots of electric scooters for hire if you’re feeling adventurous. Remember to pack a bicycle helmet if your planning to use the scooter. Be aware there’s no Aircon in these villas. Ceiling fans & Electric fans provided. This was not a problem for us because we went in April 2022, but could be an issue in August. Be aware that taxi drivers etc may not know this complex as “Beach mate” but will know it as “Villas Camelot” which I guess was their original name. Over all a terrific relaxing holiday.

Booked back in 2019 to go in 2020 but it got cancelled and moved another 3 times due to Covid! The villa company were really nice and let us keep moving the dates free of charge, we finally went in October 2021. Originally there were more of us going but it ended up just my hubby and I. Lovely villa, not perfect but everything we could want for a lovely week and the weather was beautiful. We walked down to the marina every morning for a coffee and then back by the lovely pool for the day then we’d either walk to the marina for a meal at night or on to the town which wasn’t much further or we’d get a taxi cuz they were cheap enough! We had a lovely week, it was really sad seeing all the part built villas around and it was like a building site opposite the front of the villa but it didn’t spoil our holiday, we loved it and we were very grateful to Playa Blanca Beachmate for letting us move our booking so many times at no extra cost.

The villa was excellent, everything needed for a couple, couples or family. Garden and pool excellent as were the rooms and bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen etc. If there is a down side, it’s located in village of unfinished villas, although a short walk to a little very basic friendly bar, and two supermarkets. Short walk to promenade, 20 minutes to Marina Rubicon, plus a nearer but smaller area of shops, bars and restaurants/tapas bars. There is a bus service to playa Blanca or a Taxi cheap enough. We have stayed here on two occasions and will definitely return.

This was a long awaited trip that we booked before Covid. Unfortunately Covid came along and because we had booked through secret escapes, not directly with the company, secret escapes would not refund us and told us to go to the company, and the company also refused to refund the money and hence we had to delay the holiday until a more convenient time. We eventually managed to book it for April 2023 and following a flight from London Gatwick to Arrecife, we picked up a hire car and drove down to Playa Blanca where we had clear instructions on how to enter the Villa. Arrival the villa was clean spacious plenty of room for us as there are only two of us, the only initial downside was that the pool was obviously not working, the pump was broken and the water was cloudy and the bottom Sandy. We immediately contacted the company but it took 48 hours to rectify this and the chap did come the next day but bought a pump with him which clearly demonstrated to us that they knew the pump was broken and they could’ve fixed it before we arrived and got the pool into working condition. That said however, once it was done it was a lovely villa and we couldn’t rate it high enough. The only thing we would say is that the pool is probably not safe for little children as it hasn’t got a shallow end and there’s no surrounding to it. So small children would need to be supervised and families may consider this before coming out on the trip. There is also a set of stairs as the master bedroom is upstairs and again this may be difficult for children to cope with. The Villa was cleaned once although we declined this during our stay. and the pool man came several times. We were here for 10 days in total. Weather was quite hot, but we did have a couple of overcast days but took advantage of the hire car and traveled around the island, visiting various cities restaurants and tourist sites. Overall, I would say this is a was an excellent villa a very nice stay for the two of us, only marked down by the fact that we had to rebook and couldn’t get a refund from the company at the time of cancellation. We were in Villa 22. Just a note if you do hire a car make sure you have one with a high front end as the curve coming into the Villa is quite steep and tall, and we did Graze the bottom of the car when we drove into the drive. Other notes - limited kitchen utensils. If you decide to cook at home. The supermarket is about five minutes away and very well equipped. There are two marinas fairly close by if you have a hire car which have a good selection of restaurants. I would say that the car is essential for getting around in Playa Blanca

Just returned from these villas and we all had a fantastic holiday! We have stayed in many villas in Playa Blanca over the last 20 years and this one was probably on of our favourites. Very spacious, clean and tidy, nice kitchen area with enough utensils, good BBQ area and outside dining, lovely outdoor sofa and sunbeds and a decent size pool. Location is OK, you can walk to the Rubicon Marina or jump in a taxi. We used to ring them up and they arrived within a few minutes. I would recommend car hire if you are staying here that said its not impossible to get about. The family next to us did not have a car and managed fine! We have stayed in villas before having children and we used to hire bikes..so there's always that option. Our villa was NO.21 ....there are a few areas that need a bit of DLC but that didn't put us off having a fantastic time. I was not too keen on the surrounding area there are lots of villas started to be built but not bought so not finished off. I am sure over the next few years they will be bought and not such an eye sore but once your in your villa you could be anywhere and you cant see them so my advice is don't let that worry you. I have been to Playa Blanca over 25 times and always felt very safe. I would like to thank the people who were in the villas before us for leaving 2 fab floats my son was very happy. I have loads of recommendations but main ones,,,,go to the Rubicon Marina, walk across the dunes of Papa***o to the couple of lovely restaurants at the end, take the kids to the Aqualava waterpark, drive up to the national park and see the Volcanos
