Chamberlain House

Chamberlain House is a great location that is located in the heart of the city. Our room was very modern freshly renovated and the bed was so comfortable. Liam was a brilliant host with great communication leading up to our visit, when we arrived he gave so much tips and advice making our brief visit to Derry so much better. Derry is an amazing city that I've wanted to visit for so long, it did not disappoint so much to see and do we will be back.

Having used several other accommodations in derry, travelling over twice a year with friends, we found this little gem, in a very famous street, Booking it, we arrived at Derry Airport, phoned our usual taxi company, CITY CARS, only one to use in derry, they charge £12 fixed fare on phoned hires. Our journey to chamberlain house right in heart of city centre took us 15 minutes, immediately on arrival by THERESA, we entered through the Secure keyless entry. ( no chance of losing the keys or who's got the keys question ) immediately noticed the house was warm bright and spotless. We were shown to the kitchen and dining areas. Also very clean, given the wifi password and room keys, Rooms were both spotless as was the shower, which was warm and powerful. Beds very comfortable , room also warm, t.v in every room. You have a continental choice of breakfast, cereal, yougorts, bread, tea, coffee ☕️, supplied. The house has full cctv on every level, parking space available on street outside or secure parking at the rear of the property which is locked 🔒 every night. Theresa lives directly opposite. So if problem arises, your never stuck. She visits first thing every morning, checking that all supplies are there and it's all clean and tidy, 5 minutes takes you to all the pubs, restaurants, and shops. Also the Guildhall and main bus 🚌 station. We ventured on couple of day trips visiting both BUNCRANA and LETTERKENNY on bus £8 per head 45 minutes max journey.mind sign the visiting book at chamberlain house, there was a utility room being completed to the rear of property at our stay, there is also ONE ROOM ON GROUND FLOOR, which would be suitable for anyone with a disability. Be advisable to contact LIAM the landlord directly to check the availability prior to booking, we met several other people whilst there, some who even extended there stay, for the price, cleanliness, and hospitality. We would highly recommend chamberlain house. Brilliant location. We will definitely be staying there on our twice yearly trips to beautiful Derry.

I've stayed here twice, once by myself in May 2022 and once with a friend in March 2023. Both times were very pleasant. Check in/out is super easy and the owner, Liam, is very kind and responsive. The house and rooms are very nice and clean. The kitchen is really nice to have, as well as the breakfast foods provided. The location is also great, right in the center of town. I had a car on my most recent trip and was able to park it just out front. I'll definitely stay here again if I come back to Derry!

Great location - right in the middle of the City. Room was small but just what we needed. Comfortable beds and all really clean. Secure parking at the back is a bonus. You can hear other people a bit - the sound proofing is not great, but the outside area is residential so there is no problem with that at all. For a budget hotel with a great location, it's good.

Unfortunately we didn't choose well with this one. When we arrived, there was no staff onsite. Had to ring the owner and then go down the road to get someone to open the door. More backpackers accommodation than a guest house. Rooms are very tiny, beds are so uncomfortable, no seating in the room, you hang your towels on a nail behind the door. Not room to open a suitcase except on the bed. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Lots of narrow stairs. The area is loud, but quietens later at night. There is a shared kitchen with coffee, tea and toast-making facilities. The place is clean but old and very tired. Would suit young people travelling on a budget.

We stayed here 2 nights when we were in Derry Ireland. We arrived to the place and door was locked and no one there. After a while a person staying at this place comes out and we tell them we have no way of contacting owner. He called the owner and we were told by him that he was there all day waiting for clients.....check in was till 18:00 we were there 17:00. He gave us the number to lock box and we finally got the key. Place was a dump inside, Then we had to go up these dangerous stairs till we got to this awful room.Also on web site says Parking ...The only parking is find something on the street. We never saw owner. Never again.

This is the worst place I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in many places. Myself and a friend booked in for one overnight stay. We thought at £95 surely the room would at least be clean, given that we are in the middle of a global pandemic. We found a pair of dirty boxers in the room. For me this was inexcusable as I am an essential worker and a carer for a very vulnerable elderly man. I messaged the owner the next morning about payment. There was no response. I then rang him and his wife answered. I explained the situation and discovered that the money had already been taken from my account. If the owner had returned the next day there is no way I would have handed over that amount, not forgetting that this money was only for a room. No breakfast with it. He was nowhere to be seen. I waited until later that evening, expecting a phone call from the owner to apologise and offer compensation. I finally sent him a message when this didn't happen and he offered me discount on my next stay. I couldn't believeI was offered no compensation given the fact he knew I had driven over 60 miles to get there and wouldn't be back in town any time soon. I never heard back from him again. It's a terrible way to do business. Suffice to say I will not be back.
