Mekong Charm Riverside

這家酒店是我之前訂的酒店滿房了，攜程管家幫我換的，還升級了河景房。相對於主路的酒店,這裏確實比較安靜，偏僻到你需要步行15分鐘以上才能去到國家博物館那些主要景點。在浦西山看完日落，是在南邊下山的，我看着地圖黑麻麻地走了半個小時都沒找到回去的路！而且河景房，就是晚上你能在房間清晰地被摩託車，汽車，尤其是晚上11點（中國時間12點）的收垃圾車吵醒。全屋懷舊的木式傢俱，無論哪個房間開窗户都是咯吱咯吱的聲音，沒有窗簾，白天你想午睡也超級亮堂！唯一的優點，就是老闆非常的熱情，能幫你訂去光譜瀑布,去高鐵站的車，英文很好。

メコン川に向いた窓のある部屋を予約していたのですが、実際には反対側の部屋でした。隣家との間が1メートルしかなく、遺憾でした。

We stayed for five nights at Mekong Charm hotel. The location was wonderful, right across the street from the river view. We had a room with a balcony that was very nice. The balcony chairs are a bit uncomfortable and the table much to large, but it is still nice. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water and bottled water provided. The front desk manager was very kind and always willing to help. Why a 3 star revies and not 4? I struggled with this but we had a couple concerns. One was my shoes were missing the second morning from the area where they want you to leave them. After looking everywhere the desk mgr went and retrieved them from one of the workers. So, if she took my $40 sketcher sandals, could we trust her when cleaning our room? So, we said no housekeeping and we just switched out towels with the desk clerk. We also had our laundry done and it came back clean, but very wet. Not three items were dry. Thankfully we had a balcony and were able to get a clothesline and hang everything up to dry. Pillows are in need of replacement and a king bed needs more than 2 regular sized pillows. Plug-ins, Easter basket and hair dryer handles all need to be cleaned from time to time. For what we paid, we didn’t complain but I did voice my concern about my shoes being taken.

If you are looking for a hotel on the riverside and in a quiet part of town look no further than the Mekong Charm where there are three rooms in the front with balconies overlooking the Mekong and some larger rooms at the back. The rooms were quite basic but everything worked and coffee and tea were always available in the lobby area. The staff here are excellent - helpful and attentive and very good sources of information on what best to do in and around the city. There a lots of eating and drinking options nearby if it is a wet day and the Night Market is very walkable from here.

Very nice stay in Luang Prabang. Upgrade of the room for free, very spacious rooms. Always ready to help you. Special thanks to Kit, who was always giving us information and tips about Laos with lovely smile. Thank you Kit!!

We checked in ok but the first night we were there someone was out in the lobby yelling "hello?". There was NO STAFF in the hotel, which was wide open with their computer on . Anyone could have accessed our credit card numbers. Another couple the following evening were waiting for ages for staff. No one arrived, we went on the wide-open computer to try and help them find their room. Buddy shows up ten minutes later and tells them "they are at second hotel" and from there who knows. NOT RECOMMENDED. (I could go on but suffice it to say if you don't arrive in the day expect to wait.....

Overall this is a nice place to stay : the all wooden colonial style villa is beautiful and the place radiates a relaxing feeling .... I liked the room and the view : the room is 40sqm , and has an 18sqm terrace with view to the river... The room has a high ceiling which adds to the nice spacious feeling.... The bathroom is very basic and simple but it has a rainshower with enough pressure and good temperature. ( It was funny that the first day I had 3 towels, second day 2 towels, third day 1 towel and last day I had to ask for one.... ) Bed is good, pillows are perfect. The staff is friendly, motivated and helpful The big terrace of my room on the ground floor was nice but it is next to the entrance of the hotel .... which means your privacy on your terrace is zero. All people walking in and out the hotel look always onto your terrace .... Fortunately there is a little low gate which you can close, because if you don't , some guests just come sit at the table of your terrace.... Also the street is between your terrace and the river, so anyone who walks by always stares at your terrace... Breakfast was basic but ok. However they did not offer any bacon nor croissants (although mentioned on the fixed breakfast menu) , because "it had become too expensive".... The high ceiling in the room also has a disadvantage : it means that there are glass windows above the entrance door. As the room is on the front side of the hotel -which is lit with spots all night- it lights up your room all night long .... It is also a pity that there is no coffeemaker in the room , but this a minor detail (you can go get a coffee in the lobby)

Excellent guest house, lovely upstairs room good views, small verandah overlooking Mekong River. Tasty omelette/fruit for breakfast, Manager Houmpheng very helpful,good English /French , arranges tours,changes money, amiable. Highly recommended!!

The room was OK but communication was not. Evidently the "manager" whom I made the reservation with on the phone was managing a sister hotel and there was a new (very young) guy who is now managing the hotel. He spoke very little English and that created a few minor problems. Sometimes another employee (or friend?) was around and could interpret. The biggest problem was that my reservation was supposed to be for 3 nights and I confirmed the day before. However, the third morning he told me I had to leave as I did not have 3 nights. I think that because there was the Festival of Lights, he was able to get more money for the room. There was no breakfast either, perhaps because Covid restrictions had recently been lifted. I was able to borrow his bike for the day which was helpful. So the location on the river was nice and the room OK but the inconvenience of having to find a new hotel was cause for the two star review. There are many places along the river that are a better deal unless the Mekong Charm Riverside can up the customer service.
