Sheriff Lodge

Sheriff Lodge is great. The house is homely, comfortable and welcoming. Our room – The Loft – is fabulously spacious, well equipped, has a lovely view and the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. The bed linen, duvet and pillows were perfect, as were the large white and wonderfully fluffy towels. Breakfast was generous and delicious. Add to that a charming host, Ziz, who is ready to pass on her local knowledge if asked and it’s everything anyone could want for a very enjoyable visit. The Lodge is very well situated for an easy walk into Matlock, and it’s not too steep (Matlock is steep) for the return journey after enjoying its excellent restaurants and bars. We plan to return!

Me and a couple of mates decided on a weekend stay in Matlock and stayed at the Sheriff Lodge. Couldn't fault it in anyway, Ziz was the perfect host ensuring we had everything we needed and offering advice on places in the local area. The room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. The breakfasts on offer were superb, plentiful and cooked excellently. Good location for all the things to do in Matlock, and would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking for this type of accommodation.

Everything about this guest house was lovely - so many wonderful details in the room and the ensuite, including a box of "things you may have forgotten". Ziz looked after us very well. Breakfast, including the "full Derbyshire" was excellent. I would recommend this B&B whole-heartedly.

Very friendly greeting and shown to a clean, cozy, comfortable room. Breakfast was amazing and fabulous variety. Zizi made us feel very welcome. Will definitely stay again. The building is beautiful. Lots of lovely places to visit nearby. Nice restaurants and cafés catering for all tastes.

Our second stay at Sherriff Lodge -which was just as lovely as the first. Lovely decor, quiet, very comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Ziz is a great host and very helpful - thank you for booking a taxi for us. Plenty of choice on the breakfast menu and good quality produce.

Have stayed at Sheriff Lodge a number of times so I knew what to expect - very high standards across the board - cleanliness, comfort, personal little touches such as chocolates in the rooms, a box of "things you might have forgotten", and of course the best ever breakfast; I asked the host Ziz for a box of her sublime home made chocolates which were waiting for us in our room. We also had afternoon tea when we arrived and it really was the best you could ask for. I would never stay anywhere else in Matlock. Sheriff Lodge is an outstanding hotel and is simply the best.

For us it is the first time visiting Matlock, we first booked to stay in the Sheriff Lodge for December 2023 but unexpectedly we had to change dates, so Ziz let us change our dates without losing our Deposit. Which we were very grateful. We made the change for Easter. We are so pleased we booked the Sheriff Lodge. We stayed in The Warren room which was in the Basement and it had its own Entrance to the room, it is lovely Decorated, and very clean to a high standard, We couldn’t fault it at all. The Breakfast - I must admit we have stayed at many b&b’s all around the UK and this is the best cooked breakfast we have ever had, plenty of choice and a good genuine size portion, It Definitely filled us up for the day, infact until we had our evening meal. We also had a choice of a time slot for breakfast, so we chose an early slot which suited us as we get up early at home, and this way we could be out nice and early for the day. Would we return- yes most definitely if we visited Matlock again, The Sheriff Lodge would be the place for us, Thank you Ziz for a pleasant stay and keep up the good work, you have an amazing B&B. Everything as advertised. Easy to find, lovely room (clean and warm with everything working) and hearty breakfast. Good value for money. A short walk to the town centre and other amenities and lovely walks around the local area with some nice eating houses. Book early for the best restaurants.

Had a great couple of days here - really convenient for Matlock & surrounding areas and you'll get properly looked after. Room was lovely and spacious, breakfast was delicious and Ziz couldn't have done more to make sure we had everything we needed. Thanks!
