The Alexander Ocean Front Resort

Unit 1111 is horrible. Dirty, hairy, peeling paint, missing toilet paper holders, beat up cabinets and walls and no refund when my family refused to stay there based on what we found compared to the pictures/description. Super disappointing and created a very stressful first day of vacation trying to find new accommodations on short notice.

Recent stay at Penthouse 6 at the Alexander Hotel. Previous reviews made us reluctant to rent here especially about the rude staff. We did not encounter this at all. The front desk staff, pool and beach servers were all very nice. Initial impression of the facility was good, clean lobby etc. Gift and food shops were pricey but this is not unusual. I suggest taking an Uber to Publix approx 2miles north for food and wine etc. The Penthouse had amazing beach and bay views, the adjacent building was under renovation and not pleasant to view, constuction noise on weekdays. The amenities in the penthouse were not true to the description on rental websites. The kitchen needs upgrades, coffee maker is some weird kind of auto, unlike a Keurig...we couldn"t use it. They need to upgrade this or just buy an auto drip coffee maker, which we ended up buying one on Amazon and took it home, that was aggravating! The toaster is horrible, old and dirty, barely worked. No electric hot pot or kettle. No paper towel holder. For this kind of rental the kitchen was lacking and should be higher quality!! The cleanliness left a lot to be desired, on the initial surface it looks clean, but lightbulbs had inches of dust on them, some lamps didn"t work at all, poor lighting overall. I dropped an earring under the bed, we retrieved it with the broom along with a ton of dust and bits of paper trash. Shower curtains and fixtures in bathrooms need updating and cleaning. Thank God no bugs were seen, just a lizard...but that's expected in Florida....but I did keep all my belongings/suitcase closed all the time. There's a safe in the closet that requires a credit card..ugh. Considering the burglary at this hotel last year with someone entering thru windows...better locks on windows are needed and a FREE safe! Despite my gripes we all had a nice time, the pool and beach are great. Just very disappointed in this particular Penthouse 6...it was expensive and the photos look great, so I expected a Five star experience. Beware of photos and list of amenities when you book....perhaps get verbal confirmation of age of amenities...and insist on a deep cleaning before you consider renting this Penthouse 6.

My husband and I rented a 2 bedroom renovted AirB&B for 2 weeks at the Alexander Condo/Hotel for a $7000.00 charge for the 2 weeks. At check in the agent took a $40 plus tax .per , Resort Charge ($616.00) to cover Beach, Pool and Exercise Room. The next morning we went down to use the exercise room only to be advised that it was in repair and not opening for the immediate future. We were shocked that we were not advised as the thought of 2 weeks without the use of exercise equipment was very disappointing. I asked to speak to management and was advised that they were not available. I emailed the reservation desk and never received any reply. I wanted to secure a refund on this 1 of the 3 activities offered under the Resort Fee. I plan to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I might add that a charge of $15.00 daily for a beach umbrella was also a great surprise and disappointment at this resort where I had stayed for many days in past years and never had any issues. The service was poor. Last Sunday, I turned in my bath towels to obtain clean ones only to wait until 6:00pm to be given towels for the apartment. I was told there was no one there from the laundry. A return from the beach without towels to shower was very unpleasant and unacceptable. As a Travel agent, I will not be advising my clients to come to the Condo/Hotel anytime soon.

SCAM - we booked room 1616 through VBRO. It was advertised as a”beautifully decorated” “beachfront” unit which was fully stocked with pans, utensils , etc. The booking photos showed a beautiful beachfront view and a clean condo. What we got (see pictures) was an absolutely filthy and by filthy, I mean pee stains in the bathroom, ripped curtains, caked dirt on the floors, filthy glass. Our “beachfront view” turned out to be a falling down building that looked like it had been bombed. There were no bath towels, three small dirty pans (no where near a fully stocked kitchen), a rusted safe, a broken stove, cabinets with water stains containing an electrical box that was water damaged. Both the stove and the electrical box were fire hazards and they had a missing fire alarm. The pictures attached to this review show how absolutely horrible this room was. When we called VBRO to tell them the room was not as advertised/fraudulently advertised, the owner was extremely rude and had the hotel kick us out for having the gall to call VBRO to report that he defrauded us. He threatened to have security guards “take us out” when we were already leaving. I had to call the police to keep him from having my parents and minor daughter assaulted. When we called the police, he finally said he would refund all of our money. However, he would not give us any proof he had refunded it. This was room 1616 and Alon and Slomn Itah were the owners. Not only are they defrauding people by lying about the condition of the condo and that it is “beachfront” but they have absolutely no interest in customer service. If you complain about them renting you a filthy and clearly not what was advertised condo, they will “have you evicted” for not just taking them ripping you off. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this property and especially Alon and Slomn.

Stayed over MLK Jr. weekend with some friends. We rented a unit from a great airbnb host. The unit was spacious, and clean. The property is tired and old. The valet parking is very expensive - with the tip, it is over $50 a day. The beach is beautiful, the pools are ok - but they ran out of towels when we were there and told us that it would be a few hours until they restocked. We peeked into the cabanas, some looked ok - some were full of mold. No thanks. During our stay, one of the elevators broke down (in reading the many reviews here, that seems to happen frequently) - we wound up walking down several flights of stairs and then exiting next to an active dumpster. The last day, there was an attempted break-in - someone climbing up the balconies? and the Miami police were on-site investigating. We'll stay somewhere else next time. Also - some of the most recent reviews - all folks with one review from NYC - appear to be fake. Take that into consideration when evaluating the reviews!

Stay in apartment 502 and destroy your vacation. Outdated wouldn't be the problem. DIRTY, STINKY and FULL OF COCKROACHES, is. The bug poison destroyed our lungs. Vacation was ruined. Sorry I could give a minus star. Sorry that I've exposed my family to such experience.

DO NOT STAY AT ANY Hora Rentals condos when you book at The Alexander. I booked condo number 1010 on 12/29/2023 directly through the owner Mark, who owns 9 condos at The an Alexander and advertises them through Hora Rentals. When I booked the condo before I came to Florida, I paid Mark via Zelle. When I got to the condo room 1010 it was not at all what we had expected. The tile was dirty the second bedroom smelled and the bathroom was very small that my 6’5 son could not even fit into. Another major problem was that their gym had been closed for over 3 months and none of this information was disclosed by the owner. as soon as we arrived at the condo at around 3:30 PM we noticed all of these problems and I told Mark the owner right away. He told me that he will give me a refund if I could find another place to stay. I immediately started to research other properties nearby because of the New Year’s week holiday. It was very difficult to get a hold of someone And majority of the properties were sold out. I messaged Mark at around 5:30 PM to inform him that we are still looking and we are hopefully going to find something soon. He then told me that we had to be out of there by 6 PM. Otherwise he is going to charge me for a full night. I asked him to give me a little bit of time. We are scrambling, trying to find some thing & with such notice everything was sold out. Finally at 6:45 PM. We were able to get two rooms nearby. As soon as I found that out, I messaged Mark and told him that we are leaving the condo. I spoke with Mark the next day and he told me because you did not leave at 6 PM. He’s going to charge me for the full night as well as a cleaning service fee because we sat on the beds. My husband and I were very upset, I told him if you want to charge us the cleaning fee that is fair, but you cannot charge me for a full night for only a few hours of being in the condo. He refused, and took advantage of the fact that I paid him via Zelle and only refunded me my money minus the one night and the cleaning fee. Mark does not care about customer satisfaction and customer care. I am very disappointed in this situation. My family and I have used him in the past, but moving forward we will never use him again. I don’t want anyone else to be scammed like I was scammed.
