Showboat Motel Restaurant & Bar

We were excited to stay in a room right on the lake with such a great view. The room certainly was not like the website photos, old & not real clean. We expected & didn’t mind the loud music being until 10-11-which it was the 1st night. The 2nd morning a large group arrived & warned us that we were the only ones staying there that were not in their party & they felt sorry for us! They brought all their own food (didn’t use the restaurant) own loud music, and lots of vulgar language which went on till 2am. We walked down the road to sit at a firepit at a great motel we’ve stayed at previously to enjoy the view. There was no management on site to control them. Called emergency number in morning to check out because still no one was in office. Was advised no one was there because they had to take son to college!! They knew they weren’t going to be there but left anyways? They offered free nights but we wouldn’t go if you paid us. We ate at the restaurant-food was disappointing, drinks low quality & the waitress was very rude. Brought wrong food & argued it was what we ordered-I guess the 4 of us in our group heard the order wrong? We visit the area often-there are many other beautiful, affordable places to stay close by.

I wanted to love this place as it was one of the few places still available for our long weekend trip with friends, right on the lake. Sadly, now I see why rooms were still available. It started off with receiving an automated email a few days ahead of check-in (seems convenient right?). Unfortunately, the email listed 2 different room numbers, so I had no clue which room was mine. It’s self check-in so I NEEDED to get it right before we arrived. I had to call the office to get the correct room number (neither of the original two listed in the email). We arrived later Thursday evening, get into our room, and these are much smaller than the pictures make it out to be (our fault for assuming more). Seemed like nice rooms but more like lipstick on a pig. Bathroom appeared updated but upon a closer look, not good at all. Cracked walls, bad drywall work around light switches, discolored lines of water down multiple walls, and a shower which water backed up to our mid SHINS almost immediately. Unfortunately, this was not the worst part. Our friends were staying at an Airbnb down the road. We invited them to come to the motel for drinks. We all ordered and sat out on the patio (nice view of the lake). My wife got 2/3 of the way through her mixed drink and then immediately felt nauseous. She had MOLD on both the outside and inside of her class. She was drinking MOLD in her mixed drink. She confirmed it was inside by scraping it away on the inside, bottom of the glass. She felt nauseous the entire night as she is allergic to mold. We were all mortified. Bartender was mortified. We were instructed to speak with the manager the next day. I followed up with management the following day. The team was very “concerned” and ensured us we would be refunded for our drinks (~$20, uh score?). We were also told we could possibly switch rooms and management would speak with ownership on if anything could be done about our awful bar experience. Long story short, we did not receive any follow-up whatsoever. Multiple emails and texts were sent to the Showboat Motel and ZERO follow up. No follow up the remaining 3 days we were there (this all happened day 1) nor the week since we checked out. Total and utter lack of concern for us as guests and my wife’s health. I would not recommend anyone stay here.

Do yourself a favor and DON’T stay at this establishment. Service was terrible. Condition of the building was pitiful. Room was dire need of renovation. Although I would have been happy if they simply cleaned the room! Was going to stay for two nights, however I left after one! I wish my experience was different.

Wonderful stay! 2 amazing resturants within walking distance. Lots of wineries close driving distance away. Very peaceful location. View was amazing for sunrise if you walk out to the docks. Our room was great, clean and had all the necessities for a weekend trip. Pillows are a bit firm but I will definitely be going back!!

I've stayed here in the past. I've always enjoyed myself. Until.... my last night there. It WILL be my last night ever!! When you're hosting a private event, let your paying customers know, so they can make other arrangements. Music was entirely too loud. Shook the whole building. There's no reason for it to be that loud. That's so disrespectful. The rooms... creaky floors, doors sticky doors, filthy windows, not so clean rooms. I dusted the lamps, TV and picture frames, because I couldn't sleep. They claim to use top of the line cleaning products? They don't work. Save your money and sanity. Go somewhere else. I'm so disgusted!! Fool me once, shame on you. It won't happen again.

Nice room great place! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We visited on Labor Day weekend so it was really crowded. Unfortunately we did not get to eat at the restaurant because they were closed. Would stay here again!

I had a beautiful view of the lake from my second-story window (room 42). The Showboat did a very good job of updating and decorating a modest property. New tile and fixtures in the bathroom (great showerhead), nice furnishings, towels, and linens. I didn't have a closet, but they had shelves for hanging and stacking clothes. I kept most of my things in my suitcase and used that as a big drawer. I appreciated the large mini-fridge and microwave. The fridge had a freezer compar**ent that came in handy since they do not serve breakfast at their restaurant. Since I was on a tight business schedule and the location seemed distant from restaurants and stores, I picked up a frozen breakfast, along with some premade salads and meals from Wegmans, immediately upon heading toward the Showboat from the Syracuse airport. At the restaurant, I really enjoyed the generous charcuterie boards (the one with hummus) and a very nice, cool canned rose. The rest of the food was fine. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich in the heel of an Italian loaf. Unfortunately, it was dry, and they didn't have condiments I might have enjoyed (like honey mustard). The pizzas and burgers ordered by friends looked good. One evening we walked 5 minutes south to a really nice restaurant at another property, and I had delicious crabcakes. My favorite part of the stay was the live bands on the deck next to the restaurant (Friday and Saturday nights). My companions (in other rooms) were a bit irritated because we were close to the music, but I was in heaven. Walking two minutes to a disco on the lake was a dream come true. The music ended at 10 pm. This is NOT a luxury hotel, but it reminded me of the many years I spent vacationing at old homes and motels at California beaches. I would return to the Showboat for the view and the lake with some toys (kayaks). Since the common areas on this property are easily accessible, it's a good place to hang out with family and friends. I felt safe on this "dead-end" road that had very little traffic. I also appreciated the management, who did all they could to make me happy. When things didn't go well, it was because I hadn't read the instructions (like how to unlock the door). I should also mention it is surrounded by wineries. I would return.

The room was so cute and cozy, food is in walking distance… great place to stay for events near by! self check in & out is nice, not too noisy, beautiful lakeside views, updated rooms, a couple food options. such a nice relaxing stay where you can really keep to yourself if you want.

The potential for an enjoyable stay was ruined by the obnoxious and excessively loud live band music in the evenings from 7-10 pm. I wish I had been warned that my room would be impossible to enjoy quietly for both evenings I spend there. In the future, I will check that no live bands will be playing during my stays. Otherwise a plain but pleasant place to stay.
