Home Sweet Praia

Unfortunately what would have been a beautiful stay, was marred by a poor decision by management to use toxic mothballs in our immediate sleeping area. This product is banned in many parts of Europe and its health risk and concerns are well documented. We had noticed some odor at checking in, but basically placed our bags in the room and set out to explore beautiful Nazare. We returned after dinner and tucked in for an early night. Awaking a short period of time thereafter to the overwhelming fumes from the mothballs. A search of the bedroom cupboards uncovered 2 new packs amongst some fabrics. Although we immediate removed these items from the suite. The toxic smells persisted. Management were alerted and we vacated the bedroom area in the middle of the night. Attempts to deal with management met with a simple sorry and then silence when we asked their plan. Very disappointing perhaps a language or cultural issue. We remained polite and patient yet there has been no further responsibility taken by the property. We did not get a safe and comfortable accommodation, which is what we contracted and paid for. A real shame that this property has repeatedly not done the right thing.

Having spent 2 weeks in a 5* resort in the Algarve, we wanted something more real Portuguese and saw this apartment on Tripadvisor and we weren’t disappointed. Very central - 30 metres from beach road - very clean. Car parking is 15 metres away and couldn’t be more convenient. Ema is the host and very helpful and friendly. We were there for 4 nights and had a towel and bedding refresh after two nights. Note there is a charge of 5€ per night for the parking which is great value for money as it’s so convenient.

We were travelling in rural northern Portugal and our daughter recommended Nazare and Home Sweet Praia to us. If you haven't been to Nazare the narrow streets and one way system can be challenging! However the location of Home Sweet Praia is absolutely stunning. You can walk out the front door and be at the beach in a few mins. We were in the top apartment with the egg chair! Facilities were there to self cater if needed and place was spotlessly clean. Some street noise but not dreadful. Accommodation had parking which was wonderful - it worked out well for us as we got caught in festival traffic saw a parking space and left the car at the other side of town. We walked to Home Sweet Praia picked up the parking lot key and later when the procession was over moved the car. I would recommend you pick up the key first due to the one way system in the street. Ema and her mother were super helpful and it really helps in finding everything. We were there on a holiday weekend so it was very busy in Nazare. We enjoyed seeing the area, it is a resort and busy. We used restaurants the owner recommended and were not disappointed.
