Borgo Castello Panicaglia

Hotel Manager and Wine Director, Mirca Costanza Dirodi, has created a warm and inviting haven within the castle walls. Every detail has been considered to accommodate weddings, families, couples, inclement weather. Behind the scenes reflects skilled organization in service and staffing. Her wine selection has also been meticulously curated to reflect the region and a multitude of individual taste. Chef Federico Polito creates the most delectable and creative dishes from the gardens of the Borgo to the best sourced local ingredients for Osteria Panicaglia. He orchestrates his amazing cooks to present delicious vegetables and fruit from the gardens, house made breads and pastas, locally sourced meats, poultry, fish, and will accommodate any special dietary requests. Every person we encountered from the cooks, kitchen staff, servers, housekeepers, grounds-keeper, and maintenance could not have been more kind, gracious, and welcoming. A special extension of gratitude to Agnese, Michaela, Tom, Riziki, Christian, Kujtam, Beatrice, Dionne, Natalie, Daya, and Giole for making us feel a special part of the Borgo. Thank you again. We will forever remember the Borgo with heartfelt memories.

My family with two young children didn’t want to leave when our stay at the Borgo came to an end! It is a beautiful property with exceptional hospitality. We stayed in the 3-story family suite which was very comfortable. The master bedroom bed was quite firm and the bathroom a little small for the size of the suite but really, we’d be happy to just move in! We ate an incredible lunch in the restaurant. Additionally, Anne graciously recommended and reserved restaurants for us around Umbria that did not disappoint. The staff also helped us sort out a rather complicated purchase of football match tickets. Unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy the pool and hot tub but they looked very inviting. Nevertheless, our boys enjoyed frolicking around the property and a cooking class in their kitchen, as well as the arts and crafts room. The staff really went above and beyond to make us all feel at home. We can’t wait to return.

Absolutely glorious week here. It’s such a special place with an amazing feel to it. Relaxed, luxurious, safe, beautiful and friendly. Best place we’ve ever stayed and will return for many years to come. The only slight complaint about the rooms is there isn’t air conditioning (it’s an eco hotel so I get it) and it’s very hot. Ceiling fans could be present in every room if not air con and then it would be much more comfortable when it’s really very hot out in the day. But honestly, it’s an amazing place and we had a brilliant week. 100% recommend.

Beautiful setting, nice location, rooms and breakfast, big terrace. Slow and very easygoing service, waiting forever for food. Dutch ambience with lots of small kids, impossible to relax. Food not really Italian. Very overpriced for what it was.

If you want to make business banking transactions whilst staying here, this tip may help: The WiFi range drops out when you walk down away from the building area, and the mobile phone reception is very patchy - you need to head down the hill towards the children's playground and you can't get mobile data. If like me you need to receive a text message OTP code to make payments via online banking, then you will need concurrent WiFi and mobile reception. The best, possibly only place for this is a sweet spot in the herb garden, by the rosemary plant.

I made a booking here and the hotel cancelled it without valid reason. Very disappointing and unprofessional so I do not recommend to stay here. They should go to a training on how to deal with guests.

We've been traveling in Italy for almost five weeks and this was our favorite stay so far. We stayed here for one week in mid-November and it was exactly what we needed - quiet, comfortable and lots of space to stretch out in the countryside. The level of hospitality is top-notch - everyone was genuinely friendly and willing to accommodate our needs. The food is some of the best in the area - a good mix of traditional foods but with some creativity and a lightness of hand. We came here after a week in Tuscany and we feel in love right away. We found the people in Umbria to be welcoming, warm and the area was more approachable (or less pretentious) than Tuscany. We love Tuscany, but Umbria is better for different reasons. We are already planning our return next fall and are very much looking forward to it. Thank you Borgo for helping make our week exactly what we needed.

Letto non buono, acqua calda è mancata 2 volte sotto la doccia, il cibo esclusivamente per stranieri e non certamente come loro descrivevano piatti tipici Umbri. Siamo stati costretti ad uscire sempre a cena. Non è certamente un luogo per coppie, bensì per famiglie con bambini. Non riuscivi ad avere un po' di intimità dal coinuo chiasso dei bimbi e loro famigliari. Quel luogo è sempre pieno di Olandesi, essendo gli stessi proprietari Olandesi. Lo staff. Impeccabile, tutti ragazzi giovani e molto attenti e preparati.

Location meravigliosa,immersa nel verde ,perfetta per una fuga romantica o per staccare dal caos della città . Curata in ogni aspetto,stanza pulita ,ben arredata,letto "top". Personale giovane,disponibile,accogliente,gentilissimo, pronto ad accogliere qualunque richiesta . Prezzo in linea con il servizio offerto. Colazione a buffet con scelta variegata,ottimi prodotti. Particolare attenzione all'aspetto green ,molto apprezzato. Situata in posizione strategica da cui è facile raggiungere vari punti di interesse. Da ritornarci in estate per sfruttare l'area esterna. Nel complesso esperienza top.
