Gasthaus Pillhofer

Our luggage will be carried to the second floor in a quite nice room with a slightly Bavarian decor. The price is rather high but there must have been a fair. Everything is there to ensure your comfort but without tissues in the bathroom or hairdryer. A refresh would be needed in this hotel without an elevator. I did not understand the detailed bill for the extra cleaning fee. The Bavarian evening meal is very good with some Greek and Italian starters also on the modernized menu. 30€/pers. The Stube is friendly and the service is smiling and friendly.

Stayed for four nights, the hotel is in a perfect location, less than 5 minutes from the train station and beside an excellent small market of handmade/locally made items. Also an easy walk to all the Chris**as markets and major attractions. Our room (on the third floor, no lift) was small but adequate for a short stay. The TV is small, only has German stations so a bit of a waste of time. We ate dinner at the restaurant downstairs, the food was good but a bit expensive compared to other places in town (breakfast is not available). Would recommend the Bratwurst Roslein as a great place for dinner

Stayed here for two nights in November. The double room is above a restaurant and they use the same door entrance. I was a little confused but it worked out. Our room was on the 3rd floor (technically 4th floor). After going up the stairs (no elevator), you’ll open a door which is an entrance/hallway to the guest rooms. The room was spacious and clean. The room faced the main street so you can watch people walking. In the mornings, I could hear the delivery trucks. The restaurant downstairs has outdoor seating but it was winter so nobody ate outside. Maybe in the summer, it could be noisy. The tv in the room is small and there was only German tv. It was nice to have a refrigerator in the room. There’s no AC in the room but that wasn’t a problem during the winter. The bed mattresses are soft and should be replaced. Our room wasn’t clean on the second day; not sure there is room cleaning but it wasn’t an issue for a 2 night stay. The hotel is located next to the main city wall next to the train station. There are many options for food nearby and walking to the old city is quick.

A nice place to stay in Nurnberg; close to the Hauptbahnhof. This was possibly one of my best "convenience" choices this trip. The facility is very clean and had good beds. Only downside was lack of Air Conditioning, but a vertical floor fan was provided for some cooling after sundown. Stairs were a bit steep but not a problem. Restaurant downstairs for evening meals; serves Paulaner Brau from Munich. Easy to get around in Nurnberg using the U-Bahn, but the Schloss and Duerer house require some walking on the cobblestone streets.

Do Not believe the pictures on the website, all the rooms are not that big. My husband and I had to take 2 chairs out of our room and rearrange the beds and might stands to accommodate our luggage. Mine had to be up on the desk which left no room for anything else. Forget TV, the news station played the same news stories over and over adinfanitum. It was a tape! The website also tells you there is breakfast available for $9.95, it was never offered, the owners care only about their restaurant operation. When he came up to fix the TV, I told him our room should only be rented to backpackers with small luggage, he had the nerve to tell me, I should gave called and requested a bigger room. How would I know from the pics on his site that they had any postage stamp sized rooms? He offered us a couple of beers in the restaurant as compensation! Oh, and the website tells you they have no lift, but will be happy to assist with your luggage, not one bit of help coming or going for 3 flights of twisted staircase! Hope this helps you avoid our experience. I chose it because it sounded quaint and a good location, but there are nice regular hotels right across the way with all the regular amenities. It is a great location right by the train station with tons of eating options, the Chris**as Market was right down the street, wonderful, don't miss the gluwein!!!

Very good value for money. Ideal location opposite the train station (particularly if you leave the subway at the exit next to the guesthouse). Friendly staff and a decent-sized, clean room for the money. But, we were on the third floor and there’s no lift - just the 63 stairs to climb! I had read that you could leave bags there, but there was no one around when we checked out. Luckily the Hotel Victoria next door allowed us to leave our bags with them.

Clean and comfortable rooms in the center of the city. The rooms are small but refurbished and well designed so your not climbing over your bags. Not really a hotel but good rooms to spend a couple of nights in to explore this beautiful city. Excellent shower and windows that open. The food is the restaurant is fantastic and you should definitely have a meal here!
