Steichele Hotel & Weinrestaurant

Steichele Hotel Nuremberg is an old place, very well maintained. The big deal breaker is no insulation whatsoever- in and out. Add uncomfortable bed and only one (fluffy but) flat pillow and I did not get a good night sleep even with earplugs (and good luck in hot weather- no a/c). Smallest TV I never encountered in hotel. Breakfast was standard.

This is a quaint old-fashioned hotel. Although close to the railway station, it's tucked away down a side street and not that easy to find. The hotel directions weren't that great. They still have old-fashioned keys. The reception staff were friendly. We stayed on the 1st floor. The room was compact but the bathroom was very small especially the shower. Weirdly, it had quite a large washbasin. Very cute dinky toiletries. They did give you 2 free bottles of water. No room safe. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. However, as it was hot, we had the window open and it was noisy. Bells regularly throughout the night and then refuse trucks and street cleaning early in the morning. I thought breakfast was pretty good. It's located on the 1st floor (which is handy if you're staying on that floor). It had hard boiled eggs which I loved. Although the second time we stayed (we had a night in Munich in between) the egg and the frankfurter sausages were tepid. The lift is very small. It says can take 4 people but not with luggage it can't. Unsurprisingly, it gets a lot of use so you can have to wait a while. A few times we walked down when staying on the 1st floor. The 2nd time we stayed, we were on the 3rd floor. This room, 307, seemed quite dark despite the lights especially in the bathroom. We had a fan in the room this time which was a big help. Very small TV (not that we used it).

We travel a lot (well, pre covid anyway and we are now picking up again…….) and always try to stay in traditional hotels rather than the usual international brands - and Steichele certainly fits the bill. The staff are helpful, the hotel is very clean, the breakfast is tasty and the food in the restaurant is delicious (best to book as it was busy every evening). There is also a little traditional bar in the hotel, perfect to finish the evening off. The hotel owner was very friendly, had a good sense of humour and spoke really fluent English. Overall, a good location inside the old city walls and very good value for money based on what I paid for 2 rooms, including breakfast. We will stay here again for the Nurnberg trip we have planned for 2023.

A lovely hotel! A very authentic German experience. The hotel is quiet, clean, and a great location in the city. The breakfast was delicious, and service was kind. The room was small, but as expected/described. They held my luggage for me after I checked out as well. I highly recommend!

Our town walking tour ended here for lunch. Good food - expected sausage instead of chicken, though. Soup and dessert were delicious. Lovely decor with a grand entrance. They were accommodating for a large group. Located close to Hauptmarkt.

I stayed at Steichele for three nights, in an economy single, and was pleased with the accommodation. My immediate impression of the room was not positive, the deep red carpet, orange curtain, white mottled walls and dark pine skirtings and surrounds, and the green bathroom, all cutting a tired look from the 1970s. However, everything was very clean, and everything functioned as it should, so the room was wholly satisfactory for my purposes. The hotel breakfast I thought was excellent, in terms of quantity, quality and range of choice, and the breakfast room was bright and cheerful. I am surprised to say the least, to read that some people have commented negatively about the breakfast here. One bonus of the hotel is that Zum Gulden Stern is but a two minute walk away, especially welcome if, like me, you happen to arrive on a Sunday evening when it is open and serving food, unlike most similar establishments in Nuremberg at that time.

Es un hotel céntrico y antiguo muy bonito, la atención en desayuno y recepción fue muy buena, la limpieza muy bien, el hotel tiene un elevador un poco antiguo que tarda un poco, la habitación y baño son sencillos pero suficientes para una persona, habitación y baño limpios, escritorio y pantalla, lo único que si podrian mejorar es cambiar las llaves de las habitaciones a tarjetas ya que es incómodo ir cargando la llave pesada a todos lados, el desayuno es rico pero deberian darle un poco de cambio ya que los tres días siempre fue lo mismo y cambiar las almohadas grandes por dos almohadas sencillas y por ultimo se me hizo demasiado costoso un vaso de Refresco de Cola por casi 5 Euros. Son puntos que no tienen gran importancia pero que pueden mejorar en un futuro, me volvería a hospedar aquí.

Normalmente vamos a otro en nuremberg, pero por problemas de disponibilidad fuimos a este. Es super familiar, atencion, desayuno y restaurante perfecto. La habitacion es sencilla pero esta impecable. La hubicacion perfecta para visitar el centro y junto a la parada de metro. Un acierto.

Eine nettes Hotel mit Restaurant und Biergarten, in einer Ecke der Altstadt, gute Lage. Gut für ältere Menschen, es gibt einen Aufzug. Die Zimmer sind klein, alt, aber sauber, und es gibt einen Balkon. Hohe Hörbarkeit, man hört die Nachbarn, Klimaanlage im Haus gegenüber, Autos und Musik in einem nahe gelegenen türkischen Restaurant. Sparsamkeit bei allem. Parken direkt gegenüber dem Hotel, die Gäste erhalten dafür eine Ermäßigung. Das Personal ist nicht gemein, aber auch nicht besonders freundlich. Unkomplizierter Check-in und Check-out. Hohe Restaurantpreise für Speisen und Getränke. Das Frühstück war sehr enttäuschend. Wir waren nicht die Letzten, aber es gab nichts mehr, wenn überhaupt, niemand füllte etwas auf trotz eines vollen Frühstücksplatzes. Über die Auswahl kann ich gar nichts sagen, da es keine gab. Das Essen, das zur Verfügung stand, war nicht frisch, das Brot war altbacken, wahrscheinlich noch von den Vortagen. Sehr enttäuschend, da wir das Hotel wegen der Lage und der Verfügbarkeit des Frühstücks gewählt haben. Einmal zum Übernachten wahrscheinlich ja, das zweite Mal eher nicht.
