OceanBlue Resort

Thoroughly enjoyed the Ocean Blue. The artwork is beautiful, the room was basic, yet comfortable and very clean. The view of the water was relaxing and we were able to hear the sound of the waves crashing from our room. There are several spots where you can relax on the property and just enjoy. We had a nice dinner our first night there. Enjoyed the convenience of being able to walk to local transportation (van) that took us to the main areas we wanted to go for $3 BBD per person and there’s a local store within walking distance. Would absolutely go back!

This hotel is fabulous, as are all the staff. They are welcoming, attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The structure/presentation of the hotel itself is idyllic. The restaurant is lovely with varied food, including vegan and vegetarian options. You are served by friendly staff. The rooms are clean and spacious with daily cleaning and added extras to ensure comfort. The neighbourhood is friendly and you experience a true Barbadian culture full of warmth, colour and vibrancy. In contrast, the hotel provides a welcome peaceful environment to enjoy, where you can watch the stars and listen to the ocean at night. If you want a holiday where all the staff genuinely care whether you have a nice holiday or not, this is the place for you. I cannot fault the attitude of Liesja and her team and wish them well in the future. They deserve full occupancy 365 days of the year. We hope to return one day and hope others choose to experience the joys of OceanBlue. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve just returned from a 5 night break at Oceanblue. It was just perfect I would give anything to be waking up in paradise everyday. The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff were so lovely. The location is so peaceful! You aren’t really near any restaurants/bars apart from the hotels but it’s an easy trip on the 11 van to get to most places. I travelled solo and I felt very welcome and loved the experience, I felt like I was at home. K and Von were lovely and all the restaurants staff were so friendly. I didn’t want to leave but I will be back!

We love this place...second visit in 5 months and I'd go back tomorrow...situated on the southern coastline this little gem of a resort primarily is for those who want a totally relaxing holiday...whilst it doesn't have a beach the sound of the waves, especially at night, smashing against the rocks is so soothing that it amazingly aids sleep, helped by the sea winds that help cool you down even on a seriously hot day...the family owners are delightful helpful and caring and a pleasure to communicate with...as our son owns Norfolk Rum we took a few sample bottles on this visit and boy did Kadeem and Von, the two bartenders, make some amazing barbadian inspired cocktails for us...for those wanting to experience the warm clear waters of the Carribean Sea, then a 3.5 BD (about £1.20) bus trip to Miami beach or Carlisle bay is a must...the local mini bus ride is by far the cheapest way to get around but be warned it can be hairy at times...with only 22 rooms the resort never feels crowded and there are plenty of sun loungers around the pool to cater for those who simply want to sit and soak up the sun...both the bar and restaurant are open to the elements and both benefit from the sea breezes...I would highly recommend Ocean Blue.

Obviously because of the location you are not able to swim in the sea, but views are beautiful and the hotel has been designed and maintained to the highest standard. Only one bar within walking distance, so factor in car hire or taxis/buses for going to the beach or eating out.

OceanBlue is a lovely hotel. We really enjoyed it. The decor is unusual, simple but tasteful. All white washed curving walls. There are lots of interesting art works dotted around. The rooms are quite spacious with good aircon, decent walk in shower and large veranda. The hotel is not near local attractions and beaches but with a hire car was not a problem. The pool area is small but never gets crowded. There are always available chairs. The view from the pool out to the ocean is outstanding, you get great sunrises to the left and sunsets to the right! The owners, James, Lulu and Liesje, are very friendly and welcoming. Treat you almost like one of the family. The food in the restaurant is decent and not expensive by Barbados standards. There is a general feeling of peacefulness and serenity almost like a retreat. The hotel is very reasonably priced compared to most others in Barbados. I feel like the hotel would not necessarily suit everybody’s tastes though. If you liked to be on a beach, or very near a beach. If you wanted to be within a walk of restaurants and shops. If you wanted the on site restaurant to have lots of meal options. If you didn’t like a cock crowing at dawn and numerous other times! If you wanted a TV in room and regular entertainment, then this hotel may not be for you. For us, it worked out well and we would consider returning.

Honestly the best hotel experience I've ever had. This place is a gem. Highly recommended, a haven of calm a short distance from the hubbub of the busy areas of Barbados. The owners and staff are the most accommodating and friendly I have ever come across. I would not hesitate to visit here again. A little way off the beaten tourist path but this is part of what I loved about the place. It is very easy to get into Oistins or Bridgetown on a ZR bus, if you don't have a car, they come every few mins. Short walking distance to Long Beach or Silver Rock Beach if you fancy surfing or wind surfing.

This was, hands down, one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at, and we have done lots of traveling. James, his sister and his wife are very kind, welcoming, caring and try very hard to make every guest's stay a pleasure. On the first morning, James greeted us so warmly during breakfast, we immediately felt at home. The whole resort is just amazing. The location is great: right by the ocean, with a fantastic view (the best one we have ever had from a hotel!!) to the sea, in a residential and therefore very authentic (and safe!!) neighborhood, perfectly in the middle to explore the rough east and the smooth west coast. Oistins is just a short drive away. You do not need a car to stay here, even though it is certainly more comfortable to have one. The restaurant and bar staff are equally amazing. Thank you Von and Ronnie for making every evening /night a fun time. During night several security men take care of the guests' safety, which is very good. Guests, who forgot their sunscreen, can borrow one from the hotel, which is very generous. The rooms overlooking the ocean are especially great. We loved how beautifully decorated with various works of art the whole resort and the rooms are. And it is great that the rooms do not have a TV. The food in the restaurant is very good and the cocktails are delicious. Every Saturday there is live music. It is a very calm place, also suitable for solo travelers, and since it is a rather small hotel, you easily find yourself talking to other guests and - best case - making new friendships. The pool is great, we could stay by the pool and watch the ocean all day long. This is a very fatanstic and happy place and we would like to thank all the hotel staff there, which really made our Barbedos vacation just perfect.

My wife and I decided to take a break before our business hit the pre christmas rush...my wife wanted to cruise ...I wanted a relaxing beach holiday...so we compromised...Caroline booked a cross Atlantic trip to Florida while I booked a flight...the idea was we would find a retreat in Barbados and meet up there...and boy did we find this little magical gem...situated less than 20 mins drive from the airport this delightful hotel provided everything and more to 2 extremely active pensioners looking for a quite location from where we could experience the delights of this wonderful island...from the minute we started to communicate with Lulu until we, with a heavy heart, headed home we experience the most wonderful level of service and hostility that extended from every member of the staff. Designed by an architect who was heavily influenced by North African architecture, the hotel is quite unique it that it contains many interesting nooks and crannies from where you can shelter from the glorious hot sun or heavy rain showers we we experience during our stay, while listening to the sound of the waves crashing against the protective rocks along the shore line...there is no sandy beach immediately adjacent to the hotel but as the island is blessed with many, we did not view this as an issue...the swimming pool situated close to the sea was more than adjacent...all bedrooms appear to have sea facing balconies and once again they are designed and furnished to reflect the ambience of North African resorts...we had a simple breakfast every day served by two beautifully friendly youngsters and ate in most evenings...the out of season menu was simple but the quality of the food excellent...as cocktail lovers we enjoyed some extremely creative rum based drinks during our stay...we hired a car for 4 days so that we could see more of the island, but if you want to experience the countryside Barbadian style then the mini bus system they run on the Island is a must...if you haven't a weak heart! The family owners of the resort are just wonderful people so much so that they have adopted Parker a blackbird with both legs deformed...he lives in and around the reception and further enhances the magical ambience of this resort...we have only arrived back to the UK today and Caroline is already looking at dates next October when we plan to revisit...we can't wait...
