Easton Court Guest House

My five-day holiday got off to a rocky start at the guest house. Arriving at 11 am to drop off my luggage, I found no one to assist. My attempts to contact them through the provided number and *********** messages were met with silence. Consequently, I had to haul my suitcase around all morning. Even my message left on the answering machine went unanswered. Returning at the designated 2 pm check-in time, the door was eventually answered after a delay. However, the greeting I received was rather lackluster, a simple mention of my name, followed by showing me to my room. Basic instructions about breakfast were given, including completing a form and placing it in the hallway basket. There was also mention of a DVD collection available. After this brief encounter, I scarcely saw the host again, except for a minor interaction when some bread was thrown to the seagulls upon my return. The breakfast was passable, but the quality of the food left much to be desired. I opted for the vegetarian breakfast twice, featuring Linda McCartney sausages which I found tasteless. The assortment included individual croissants and pain au chocolat. However, the absence of juice options was noticeable, with only a small glass of fresh orange juice placed on each table. My choice was a muffin with ham and poached egg, accompanied by hollandaise sauce – a satisfactory experience, yet marred by the inexpensive quality of the food. I also had a pot of tea. Upon entering the breakfast room, it was another guest who informed me to sit at a table corresponding to my room number, a detail that was surprisingly missing during check-in. The room itself was moderately comfortable. An enjoyable aspect was sitting by the window in room 4, providing a distant view of the sea. Basic amenities such as a small kettle and tea bags and coffee jars were provided. While the tea bags were replenished daily, a noticeable lapse occurred on the last day when the supply dwindled and the small pack of biscuits was missing. The guest house is conveniently located close to the beach, only an 8-minute walk from the harbor. This proximity was perfect for my early morning strolls on the beach. Upon check-out, my request to leave my luggage until 3 pm was met with a less than accommodating response. I was informed that the hosts would be leaving at 3:15, prompting concerns about retrieving my luggage in time. As a result, I hurried back to collect my belongings, and upon ringing the bell, I was told that they wouldn't leave until I had collected my luggage. This inconsistency left me uneasy, particularly as I was catching a train at 5 pm. The experience cast doubts on the hosts' reliability, further exacerbated by the less than stellar check-in process. It would have been beneficial had the hosts communicated with guests regarding check-in preferences and provided a more consistent and professional service. My fourth or fifth visit here. As usual top marks! Lovely warm and welcoming host, comfortable and clean en-suite room, fabulous breakfast and choice, ideal location , and competitively priced as well. Minutes from the beach, town centre and train station. Somebody mentioned a steep hill, which equates to a rather steep exaggeration…. No doubt, I’ll return, as The Easton Court is highly recommended.

Bed really uncomfortable. Breakfast I didn't not eat. Left after 1 night. Based on a steep hill with very tight car parking. Water pressure very low. Very much dissatisfied with the experience I had. Would not recommend.

Just returned from our 2nd stay at this hotel, and our opinion nothing as not changed still very good. Clean and friendly everyone made welcome. Bedrooms clean and comfortable. Had evening meal (extra cost) but well worth the money, Tasty and well presented thanks Ange well worth the money. So to Ange Nick and Chantel keep up the good work. Julie and Peter

Excellent breakfast, comfortable clean room ,good night's sleep, just far enough out of the centre of Paignton to be in a nice quiet area. Many thanks to Ange nick and chantell for making our 10 night stay one to remember and when we come down to Devon again we'd have no hesitation in booking Easton Court .thanks

We stayed here for a week commencing 17th July and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was very comfortable and clean with the added extra of a very welcoming small fridge. The two bottles of cold water were appreciated. The breakfast selection was very good and every one we tried was delicious. We had a meal there on Monday night which was on comparison with the breakfast for enjoyment. It was situated only five minutes from shops, pubs and activities. Thanks so much Nigel and Jane Daker

I booked a 2 night stay with Tesco voucher and **********, so basically I paid up front. Being very short staffed at work, I was thinking of cancelling, but my firm were not desperate enough to pay for my losses if I didn't go, I decided to go. I am so glad I did. I had a large single room with a sea view and window seat. Small fridge (brilliant idea for this time of year). Breakfast was plenty with a good choice. Parking was ok. Friendly staff. Walking distance for the seafront, buses, trains, cinema restaurants etc. I felt if I was on holiday. Would stay again in the future.

Fantastic what more can I say very a-tentative excellent food nothing is to much trouble for them will go out the way to help will definitely stay again good night night sleep and excellent breakfast a great place to stay

Warm welcome on arrival. Friendly staff. Room was available early bed very comfortable and room reasonably sized. Breakfast was excellent and a polite and cheery service from the young girl. Outstanding value. Close to the centre and beach. Absolutely perfect would definitely recommend
