Orbit IN

Just completed 5 night stay at Orbit In. Overall our impression was good, with a few exceptions. Room was not serviced after first night of stay and the cleaning fluid which is used has an overpowering scent to it. The scent was bleachy, but mostly a sick sweet smell I can't put my finger on but encounter often at sketchier Mexican restaurants. After 5 days with the windows open most of the time, we could still smell it quite strongly. We could also smell it from the parking area when returning to the hotel. When sitting at the pool, a neighboring room opened their door and same scent wafted out. We chatted with that guest and they acknowledged also being overpowered by it and keeping windows open around the clock to cope. On the positive side, the hotel's location is excellent and very walkable to the main drag. We enjoyed the retro vibe, as well as pool and hot tub. The shower in our room was the best ever - fantastic water pressure! Office staff were very helpful. Fridge near pool with soft drinks was a nice plus.

We’d stayed at the Orbit In on a previous occasion, and a return visit didn’t disappoint. We were staying in the Bossa Nova room. Although it didn’t have windows overlooking the pool, it was large and comfortable with a good bathroom (including a bath) and a nice private patio at the rear. Housekeeping were excellent in keeping the room clean and replenishing toiletries and towels daily. Orbitini hour was a delight every afternoon at 4.30! Everyone sat around the bar chatting about their day and sipping cocktails. The manager, Brian, was informative, inclusive and entertaining. The breakfast was a bit non-existent. Plenty of good coffee, but otherwise only packets of oa**eal or ‘granola balls’ and fruit yoghurts. Neverthless, we bought a packet of good granola from On The Mark deli and ate it in the sunny breakfast area beside the bar. There was always a well stocked fridge full of canned drinks, milk, yoghurt and water. We would certainly recommend to others!

Wow, what a fantastic hotel. The retro detailing is exquisite. Enjoy complimentary Orbitini cocktails at the poolside bar and soaking up the 1930's ambience. We had the Rat Pack room, which was truly delightful. We enjoyed lounging by the pool in the morning.

Less review than love letter to Orbit In – a Herbert Burns masterpiece in Palm Springs. Meticulously restored and maintained, each of the 9 rooms is mid-century modern HEAVEN, including authentic and appropriate furnishings and décor. Incredible attention to detail, warm and accommodating service and a fun, low-key vibe (including “Oribitinis” served every day at 5:00) made this the absolute perfect experience for a trip I’ve had in my head for at least 10 years.

Stayed in June in the ratpack suite. Hotel has a 50s feel (only 10 rooms or so) with record players in rooms and a huge selection of records in the reception to help yourself to. The place is so quiet and relaxing. Bill is the star of the show who is the manager and such a nice guy. He’s a credit to the place and nothing is too much trouble. Had the hotels free ‘orbatini’ cocktails at 5 and just had a really chilled and relaxed 2 nights. Theres also a great place for marghuritas at the end of the road recommended to us. The Orit Inn meets all your expectations, and the welcome from the owners, to the helpfulness of the staff puts you at ease. The salt water pool, combined with the views of the mountains and Mid Century flair gives you the full Palm Springs experience that your looking for. The rooms are awesome and you’ll contemplate wanting to try them all, and you’re encouraged to meet up at the bar for Orbitini night which is always a good time, mixing the return visitors with the newbies. A+, and we’ve scheduled for next year already.

This small hotel just west of downtown offers just what it claims to be. Pool great. Staff great. Rooms great. The entire "feel" of the place was 50s, down to the records that you could borrow to play on your in-room turn table. A definite must if you want a true Mid-Century modern experience.

we went back to the orbit in for our summer 2023 trip to palm springs. we stayed there a couple times over the years but like to try out the boutique hotels in palm springs. it was great to be back. the new owner really seems to be trying to keep the experience the same. there's still the very important orbit-ini hour, records & games for entertainment, a clean pool & a quiet/relaxed vibe. this is not a party hotel & that's why we love it. there are 9 rooms so it doesn't get crazy there. we will definitely be going back next year. robert, the new manager, does a great job filling the big shoes that bill the old manager left behind. he is very knowledgeable of palm springs & has great stories to share. we had a great time! thanks orbit in.

5/31/23: Owners Kevin and Jinny and property manager Bill created a special experience here that we loved for 10 years. But the new owners and on-site staff are changing it. The pool was full of dead bugs, the pool furniture and deck were not cleaned. We appreciated the adults-only quietness and non-party vibe which we shared with other regular guests. Sadly, that’s gone and so are we. Update 6/21/23: I'll upgrade my review since the new owner reached out to us to discuss our issues and asked us to give them a second chance, which was commendable. However, we won't know if positive changes are made - such as better on-property customer service and more pool area cleanliness efforts - until we return.
