Superb service from start to Finish we had a small wedding here and everything was superb the staff were excellent and thoughtful the meal was superb and the Small room set up lovely got to thank Pauline who helped us from start to finish with everthing couldn't ask for anythimg more Thankyou

The unfortunate thing about reviews is that when it is excellent, you usually don't leave a review, and only those with a gripe or a moan leave a review. I have been here twice, on both occasions, with friends for an afternoon meal. On both occasions, the food was excellent. Today, they had a very large wedding to contend with along with the restaurant. Food I would give 5 stars and service was to a high standard, albeit a little bit slower than normal, which I expected as they did have a wedding to deal with. I would highly recommend this family-run hotel for any occasion and you will never be let down. Remember not every happy customer with leave a review, which is a shame.

Quaint hotel in a pastoral area outside of Edinburgh. We spent many hours enjoying the backyard beer garden and walking through the nearby town of Pathhead. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was large. Tasty traditional Scottish breakfast.

We had our wedding here on Saturday it was brilliant couldn’t have ask for better there isn’t enough room to say how great a day we had rooms were great, food was superb, staff were excellent thank you Rosie and a massive thank you to all the other staff that made our day so special thank you

We were a party of 6 adults, we had attended a funeral and had chosen this establishment because of its country setting. How I wish I had read the tripadvisor comments prior to going as if I had I would have chosen somewhere else. On arrival we were given our table, the floor was covered in food, there were chips, tomatoes and other remnants of food lying around, we asked for the floor to be swept and the sullen waitress reluctantly did do it. There were 2 waitresses, you know who you were ( 3pm on Friday the 11th of August ) both need to get other jobs before they help close the doors of this place for good. Management take note !! We also had to ask them to clear our plates away, the food when we eventually got it was acceptable but served by these terrible individuals in such a terrible way and not hot enough. All I can suggest to anyone thinking of eating here is DONT, choose another place where the staff are pleased to welcome you.

4 of us visited today fir lunch. The food and prices were good value for money.However, the service we received was very poor. We say outside but had wait an eternity for the starters to arrive. The plates were not cleared and then two.main courses were brought out.one was was for 1 of us . There were no chips included. After a while the waitress returned and told us this was food for another couple and taken away,still leaving the starter plates on the table. After another lengthy wait our food arrived ,without any apology. The starter plates were removed. We were then left alone u til we decided to leave. My wife had intended to have a pudding but we were not offered menus nor we we we asked if we would like anything else to drink or tea or coffee. We made our way to main room to pay our account. I doubt anyone would have noticed if we had just left without paying. Service certainly let the place down badly.

Stopped off for lunch, we had the chateaubriand and have to say it was the most fabulous meal we have had, service was amazing and great value for money, absolutely out of this world. You have to try it, and we recieved a very warm Scottish welcome.

Had a fantastic meal at The Stair Arms on 14 April 2023. Staff were friendly and the food was delicious. Cullen Skink and Haggis Fritters to start followed by Steak Pie and Lady Stair Chicken. So tasty and good portion sizes. We ordered desserts too , sticky toffee pudding and brownie sundae. Both equally lovely. Will definitely return when we're in the area.
