We stayed at San Savino last week with a combination of family and friends. We had a fabulous time. The house was perfect, three living rooms for those who had to work, four places to have meals, three of which are outside, offering sun and shade. The very private and manicured grounds are beautiful, olive trees, lavender, fig trees, rosemary, and sun nearly all day. The pool was beautiful too and looking over the most magnificent view. We visited the local farmers markets, (the most delectable porchetta) and shopped at an excellent grocery store close by (recommended by Murlo) with delicious fruit, vegetables, hams and salamis, bread and very reasonable wines. We visited many of the hilltop towns and rented a boat on Trasimeno. We hiked a few mornings to the top of Mount Tezio which has unparalleled views, even snow-capped mountains in the distance. The concierge and housekeeping teams oversaw our every need, suggesting and making lunch/dinner reservations, arranging vans to the Estate restaurants, Il Caldaro and Fattoria. Il Caldaro was delicious, especially the pizza! The estate wine is delicious too. Housekeeping was also very accommodating when we had a midweek change of guests… We have booked the same villa for the same week next year. Thank you Carlotta, Erika and Namal!

First , prior to my arrival. I looked at all the reviews and I did see a one star review, which kind of startled me .so I made them a bit crazy with all my questions and I sincerely apologize to Claire and Eliza so PLEASE READ PLEAE PLEASE PLEASE !!!! ignore the one star revieve !!!! Tenuta di Murlo is at least 10 stars. it exceeded every expectation and it is an absolute dream. On every level, beauty, charm elegance staff sounds smells textures views. It’s just probably the most amazing experience I’ve ever had …. It just needs to be seen to be believed, it needs to be experienced to be believed… I can’t thank Eliza Claire, the whole staff, and finally, and and finally, Carlotta Tettamanti owner and dream maker who manifested this magnificent experience.

We booked a villa stay because of the amazing images on social media of the pools and external views of the property. Never did we stop to wonder why they don't show the internal spaces, and now we know it is because they are worn, old, dirty and FAR, FAR from a "luxury" stay. If the deteriorated state of the accomodation wasn't bad enough for the high prices they charge, couple that with atrocious customer service! No where near a high-end, International standard of hospitality. But then the icing on the cake is the aggressive, threatening nature of the management when you "dare" to complain about being misled and not getting what you paid for. They claim that no one has ever complained before, and then they threaten to take legal action against you if you dare to share your honest experience and provide a bad review. Totally unprofessional. Management should spend less time threatening guests who have a bad experience and more time fixing the problems.

We have spent time both at Il Caldaro (restaurant / hotel), Castiglione Ugolino (villa is an understatement) and Villa Molinella (villa, also an understatement). The properties are fantastic, each in their own right – beautifully and thoughtfully restored with impeccable taste, straddling and balancing 'authentic' with modern. Equally important, the team running the estate are amazing: the kindness, thoughtfulness and impeccable service is out of this world – and, throughout you feel part of the family. And that's before even touching on the exquisite food being prepared.. I've stayed in many places that are 'unique', but have to say that Tenuta di Murlo is almost otherworldly in that respect. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

From the moment of arrival we were warmly welcomed to this dreamily quiet country estate. Anka in a matter of minutes whipped up a couple of fabulous salads; our rooms were delightfully located steps away from the pool, and were well appointed with good bathrooms. Breakfast, generous and tasty, was served in a delightful chic garden room. Amir in the restaurant il Caldaro, was friendly and fun, accommodating our whims…fabulous in menu choice & taste, wines were also splendid- the indoor setting beautiful, the garden setting magical on warm nights. Carlotta and Alessio have created something special on their enormous estate- nothing pretentious…a touch of rustic class.

What a beautiful place, first and foremost. We stayed in the perfect, private villa Molinella. When I recall memories from this trip, I distinctly, almost viscerally, remember the feeling of tranquility and peace that embraced me here. Very, very few places in my life can I say (or even remember) have inspired similar feelings of harmony. Villa: Spacious, well-priced, and exceedingly private. It took a while to get there from the meeting point/entrance, but it did ensure that we would not be disturbed whatsoever while there. The rooms were absolutely dreamy, the furniture high quality and in excellent condition, and everything worked/ operated as it should. They also provided us with pots/pans/utensils for cooking, and there wasn't a single thing we needed that wasn't already provided. They delivered our morning breakfast each day, fresh from their farm, I wish I could stay there forever. It was our own little hamlet. Pool/ private underground grotto: The pool was quite cold, even in 95+ degree weather, but this was a very minor issue. It was very clean and beautiful to swim in. The underground grotto/jacuzzi was without a doubt the coolest thing we've seen in any sort of home/villa. It was such a memorable experience, taking our first steps down and into the water, and then turning on the built-in jets, we spent hours there! Restaurant: We ate there only twice, but it felt so intimate and lovely. Tables were set up outside on the grass ( I think you could also eat inside if you preferred). The food was excellent, and there was ample space between our table and the next for privacy. They set up all the tables in this manner.

We (6 adults) stayed at Villa Penna for 1 week in early August. The villa is very quietly located in the Murlo estate on a hill (altitude +/- 470m) about 10 minutes' drive from the entrance to the estate. The gravel access road is in good condition, so no need to worry. Villa Penna is even more beautiful in real life than in the photos on the website! The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, everything is there. There is a barbecue and also an outdoor pizza oven. The large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms (with walk-in shower) are all 4 equally beautiful. There are several outdoor dining tables and near the pool there is a kind of cottage/house with a large dining table where you can sit sheltered from the sun. Because this house's windows and doors are open, there is always a lovely cooling breeze. The garden is beautifully landscaped, the infinity pool is super with breathtaking views of the valley and the mountains. The staff at Tenuta di Murlo really do everything to make the guests' stay as pleasant as possible. No effort is too much for them. We were genuinely sorry to have to leave after just 1 week but we will definitely go back!

If you have 4 days left to live, come to Italy and stay in Tenuta di Murlo (in any of the villas, but Villa Molinella is best) for those 4 days and your life will be complete, I assure you. I have never experienced such an amazing service in my life. On call 24/7, transportation for activities, restaurants, train stations, helpful and extremely kind team of people. I had such a lovely exprience in Tenuta di Murlo. First, I stayed in Villa Monticelli which is a stunning villa with a stunning view. I was brought complimentary breakfast every single morning and every single day we came back to a clean villa. After, we switched to villa molinella ( my favorite ). Not only was the villa stunning from the outside, but the inside was equally as breathtaking. (even an indoor jacuzzi. The history of the villa is mindblowing! You will have to book a night to find out) We decided to extend one night in our villa because we couldn't get enough of it. The whole crew: Erica, Elisa, Benedetta, Carlota, Mauricio, GIOVANNI AND HIS DOG. THE KINDEST SOULS ALIVE. I cannot recommend this villa enoguh, and even the restaurant. I left a review about the restaurant as well beause Il Caldaro was also an exquisite experience. Amazing food, amazing team as well. Extremely grateful for this experience, for the most amazing service, the good food (which I craved so bad, order the carbonara is to die for), and overall an amazing stay. This is a MUST visit and should be top of your priority list when in Italy. Please support tis kind family and kind team.
