Si vous voulez faire la fête, allez-y les yeux fermés, sinon n’y allez pas !! Je ne connaissais pas le mad Monkey et je n’ai pas apprécié le concept, endroit fréquenté par les très jeunes, musique dès 8h jusqu’à 23h ! Alcool à gogo. Idéal pour les jeunes backpackers qui veulent faire la fête, sinon ce n’est pas l’endroit !

2,5x more expensive then a room that provides so much more comfort. Also it had a terrible bed and i needed to walk 8 stairs up.. no soap, not a glass. It is a room with a bed and a shower nothing more. The entertainment downstairs was not to my liking. You need to get extremely drunk to have fun.

Mad monkeys in PP is a very cool hostel. I stayed for 6 days in total. The food is very good and all the staff are really nice. Soso is so much fun. Domrey and Sopheak do a great job behind the bar!

Very good place for a solo traveller A bit expensive but that's OK overall

Really good hostel, lots going on, comfy with good and friendly staff! I only stayed one night but we played some games and went out! Lin made the night eventful and fun by constantly getting us all involved throughout the night

Good Hostel as all reviews said that. The only thing you have to aware that this is a party Hostel so you can hear music even at midnight. The pool was not so big, I just wonder if they change the water or not.

So we actually ended up staying here on 3 different occasions over our whole trip. We didn’t intend on doing so but that’s how it ended up being and luckily we were not upset by returning. Firstly the reception are very welcoming when guests arrive and leave. Must say a massive thank you to Sophhorn (soso) she was absolutely lovely and very friendly with a great humour! We did a few tours with mad monkey here including the killing fields which you must see but is awfully sad, and the walking tour with the hostel which was so much fun. It was very clean and a very social hostel. The bar crawl was really fun and showed you some Cambodian nightlife. Prices were reasonable especially with alcohol and the multiple happy hours. They also have lots of food deals including a free drink beer or soft. Overall great stay comfy beds and lovely staff.

Das wa mit Abstand das schlechte hostel in dem ich geschlafen habe keine Möglichkeit Gepäck zu verstauen ohne ein eigenes Vorhänge Schloss die Matratze ist so hart das ein schlafen nicht möglich war der Ort ist extrem gefährlich und ich wurde ausgeraubt auch viele andere wurden ausgeraubt weit entfernt von allem die eigenen Fahrer verlangen das 3 fache keine Handtücher keine shampoo einfach nicht empfehlenswert

nice hostel for joying and making new friends. They had a lot of activities from tours to pool party. The only thing that I didn't like is the pool so many pp and sometime they didn't keep it hygiene enough .

Mad Monkey always been the best place to stay!

Added on behalf of my boyfriend: Worth the read if you’re considering any of Mad Monkey’s hostels. This is a 100% true review regarding probably one of the most horrendous experiences we’ve ever had. My girlfriend and I were put in the first dorm room, where an older Asian gentleman was staying in one of the bunks, my girlfriend caught him taking videos or both her and me in the mirror that faced us - mainly photos of her. Later when we came back into the room he was definitely doing this as his flash accidentally went off. We went and told the staff and they did nothing. They asked him about it and he obviously denied it - this is sexual harassment taking photos of a woman changing. It wasn’t taken seriously at all. The following morning we demanded something was done about it - all that was done was WE were made to change rooms. Disgusting. Another detail regarding that room is when we came back on the first night someone was sleeping in my bed and all my belongings had been moved off. WE moved a new dorm the floor above ours. This was the real night from hell. We were getting ready for bed at approximately 11pm as we have a trip booked early the next day. The other person who was sharing the new dorm came crashing in drunk and a complete state. She switched all the lights on and switched the A/C off - as she couldn’t sleep with it on. We tried to reason with her to let us sleep and have the A/C on as it was very hot. She became abusive so we just tried our best to sleep. She then was on a phone call shouting until around 12:30am - I confronted her and she started becoming aggressive. I went downstairs to tell the staff member and he was not really interested at all. The girl then came downstairs and became violent - she hit me with her bag and went to hit my girlfriend (catching and cutting her chin with her nails). The staff and security did nothing, didn’t kick her out or phone the police when she’d assaulted two people. We went back to the room to which she followed and then went to attack my girlfriend again - I pushed her away. She started being racist to us, stating: ‘white people sh*t’. This was all in front of staff who stood there and were absolutely useless. I myself had to run down and get security. The staff were offering HER a private room and one staff member actually pushed me back inside the room when she was the one causing this. The staff also allowed her to live stream/record us while the whole incident was unfolding in our private dorm room. This went on right up until around 7am. The staff didn’t do anything, didn’t escort her off premises or ring the police. Finally around 5am we thought it was all over so we went to sleep. Then she came crashing back in the room (staff did not take the dorm room key off her) attempting the same thing again, I pushed her out the room and called for staff. We then went back to sleep, around 7am a staff member allowed her back in the room to find a missing item (a cup) putting us in ye

The staff at this staff deserve 10/10 - especially Phanna and Kimsin! They are so kind, funny and most of all helpful! They waved at us every time we arrived back to the hostel and asked us about our day, suggested activities and helped with the basic tasks like laundry, keys, printing out documents :) if you are reading this P + K we miss you! As for the hostel, it is quite basic but the cleaners come every day. The beds in the dorms do not have curtains which is a little less private, and the owners could possibly renovate some fixtures in the bathroom (tap coming off the wall, rusty fixtures in shower etc)! This is the reason for the 4-star instead of 5 review. Overall, the location is excellent and in the nicer area of Phnom Penh compared to a lot of other hostels which are in more ‘seedy’ areas. There is also security-type staff outside the main entrance who can help with tuk-tuk drivers on the street etc so you definitely would feel safe as a solo traveller. I would stay again for the amazing staff (P + K), the nice restaurant + bar facility etc. even though it is a party hostel and they encourage you to join, you can still have a pleasant stay if you don’t enjoy drinking/going out too.
