Periwinkle Lodge Guest House

We had been looking forward to the wide panoramic sea-views for our last three nights at Periwinkle Guesthouse and were, therefore, initially very disappointed to be given Room 6 on the first floor, below the breakfast area. Unfortunately it was the Easter weekend and Pearson and Brian were very apologetic that they didn’t have any higher floor rooms available to move us into. To our surprise, the room really grew on us. It was large and spacious and there was hardly any noise either from the little road in front nor from the breakfast/reception area overhead (I had worried about loud conversations and scraping chairs early in the morning). The view of the sea was nice (albeit not panoramic), we could hear the waves crashing all night and contrary to my initial fears, it was actually very private. The entire house is beautiful with many lovely, quirky touches. The pool area is very relaxing even though the water temperature was rather refreshing in March. There are also only four sun loungers but with most guests enjoying the beach rather than the pool, it wasn’t a problem. It actually gets sun until mid-afternoon despite facing east/southeast (the balconies only get morning sun). There was no A/C but a very welcome ceiling fan and lots of cross-draughts to keep us cool. Breakfast was absolutely excellent and the afternoon cakes were to die for (the Lemon Meringue is in a class of its own!) Brian and Pearson are excellent hosts and couldn’t have been more helpful. All in all, we enjoyed a beautiful, relaxing Easter weekend right down by the Indian Ocean before tackling the long journey home. Would highly recommend this guesthouse!

Wounderful place with excellent view at the ocean. The lobby is very nice, like a livingroom with seaview. Breakfast is served at the terrasse and you feel being at home. The choise of breakfast is very rich and good

Great place to stay. Fantastic accommodation with pool. Close to the beach for great walks. Great breakfast . The accommodation is too far to walk for dinner at night. But safe ubers make eating out very accessible

What a beautiful Place. This Upmarket guest House, is situated on a quiet street, overlooking the beach. Tastefully decorated, friendly staff, and excellent value for money, we loved it. We absolutely loved this Guest House, and would definitely recommend it.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The views of the bay are breathtaking, the staff are first class, the rooms very comfortable and well equipped, all topped off with a delicious choice of breakfast options. Before we arrived at Periwinkle one of our party had picked up a viral stomach infection. Elbie, Brian and Richard went above and beyond to make everything as comfortable as possible for us during our time with them. It was a real home from home and nothing was too much trouble for them - even arranging a medical appointment as well as catering specially for our dietary needs. Your kindness will always be remembered. Indeed every member of staff provided excellent service. We extended our booking from three to five nights because Periwinkle was such a welcoming, attractive and friendly place to stay. Thank you so much.

Lovely hotel in great location with great staff. Breakfast was delightful. Very comfy bed. Helpful staff - Albie insisted on trying to book our meal reservations. Attention to detail in bedroom was very good eg homemade biscuits, bottle of wine, etc..

Perfect location in Plettenberg Bay, near the beach with a wonderful view. Service is very friendly and professional; very good breakfast; everything was well and did fulfill our expectations; if we will be in Plettenberg Bay again, we will book this again for sure; next time we will book a bigger room, the room numer 1 was a little bit small, but that was in our hand :)

Starfish provided an awesome place to stay in Plettenberg Bay. Perfect location, great amenities, very clean and comfortable, and with staff that took great care and provided excellent service. I loved the room and easy access to the beach.
