Overall the Hostel itself is good - people / workers are nice, there is a very calm vibe and the location is very near the city center and, more importantly, the bus terminal that connects you to the Waterfalls. A special shout out to Tito who works in reception - very funny and interesting guy, make sure you grab a drink with him! However, the reason I’m writing this post is the Hostel’s dishonest pricing system. On Hostelworld they announce prices both in Argentinian Pesos and in USD, but under a “*”, written in a very small font size, there is a clause that says they will only accept payments in USD at the blue exchange rate (usually 3 to 4 times more favorable to USD), though the issue is they use regular exchange rate. Let me give you a practical example with our numbers. On Hostelworld they priced each night to be around 5000 pesos. At the Blue Exchange Rate, the one you would get at Western Union for instance, at the time this would be around $5 (as the exchange rate was approximately $1 = 1000 pesos). When you proceed with the booking, the website will tell you you can either pay the price in pesos at the hostel, or pay either online or at the hostel in USD. The issue is the conversion to USD will be made at the official exchange rate, which are the time was about $1 = 330 pesos - so instead of paying the equivalent of $5 in pesos, as you would in any other place, you’ll be paying $15, 3 times more. So basically, whilst on booking I agreed to pay 5000 pesos / night, once I got to the hostel I was told I would be charged 15 000 pesos / night. For this price there are much better alternatives in Puerto Iguacu.
