A very sweet place to stay within walking distance to everything. The staff very accommodating and kind, despite my lack of Spanish speaking skills. Thankfully, my daughter spoke Spanish and was able to communicate any gaps in conversation. The meals at LaLaguna were over the top! We can't say "Gracíous" enough.

View of flamingos are fantastic, hot tubs on roof and pool to cool off in!! We had an awesome corner room on 3rd floor with windows everywhere. Nice balcony to watch the flamingos. Good breakfast included. Free drinking water and hot water available anytime. They will fill up a private hot tub on the roof for you. Walking distance to town. Comfy beds!

I had actually booked Hostal Villamil but when I arrived to Puerto Villamil at the ferry port I was told that I had been upgraded to here. It seems like I lucked out as this was such a lovely hotel. The 2 guys that work at reception were very helpful and friendly and always gave a warm welcome. It is also possible to book trips through reception. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel has a nice roof terrace which is lovely to sit on and plenty of seating at the front of the hotel. It is situated opposite the lagoon where you can see flamingoes which is a nice start to every day. The beach is a one minute walk away and gives direct access into the sea. Puerto Villamil is a very small town so all accommodation is central. I would definitely stay here again if I visit Isabela.

We loved our stay here! Not only was the property wonderful but the staff went above and beyond to meet all our needs. The breakfast was delicious and the hotel looks out onto a lagoon but is walking distance from everything in the town. We highly recommend this hotel!

I stayed there 3 nights. The employees are hard working and mostly helpful. However, this is a hotel where they made bad design choices. The rooms in the main hotel; some of them face an area where they built the new part of the hotel. So, when you are in your room you are looking at the hallway and the entrances of the rooms in the other part of the hotel. Not only you don't get natural sun light or a view but you also don't get good air circulation. The first room they gave me had mold all over. The air conditioner was full of mold. When I told the reception about it, they acted like they didn't know what mold was. I looked at hostals afterwards and regretted not booking a hostal for a third of the price or booking a nice hotel by the beach. After a day, they gave me a nicer room in the nicer part of the hotel but I had to go through a lot of hassle with the employees to get that room. They don't seem to care that there is a serious mold issue in the rooms.

A friend and I stayed at the La Laguna for 3 nights and stayed in a Superior Twin Room. The room itself was a bare-bones accommodation - 3 twin beds, an air-conditioner and a bathroom. There was no TV, but there was a wall-mount for a TV and a TV remote, as if the TV had been recently removed. We weren't there to watch TV, so no big deal, but it was a little weird. We swam or snorkeled everyday while on Isabela, so we had wet clothes everyday, but there was nowhere in or outside the room to hang wet gear to dry. (Bring your own portable clothesline.) The woman at the front desk helped us to book two excursions, which was helpful, but could not help us in recommending a place to eat - it was as if she had no idea what options were available closeby, which left us shaking our heads a bit. The breakfast was the worst we experienced in our over two week stay in the Galapagos, and was only served from 7:00 to 8:30. If you arrived later than about 7:45, you were forced to pick through the dregs of what was left. The sliced bread had already begun to harden and the fruit was of the overly-ripe variety. There were scrambled eggs, but they were undercooked and very 'wet'. I settled for a piece of toast, and a borderline banana each morning. The most interesting things happened upon and after checkout. I had booked on *******, and when we checked out, the woman at the front desk asked for payment. I told her I thought it was handled through *******, and she replied that ******* takes the reservation and I still had to make payment. She followed with saying that if I left a 5/5 star review, we could have the room for free. Wanting to save a few bucks, I agreed, and wrote and accurate review. Later, when I checked my account, I found that I HAD been charged by ******* for the room - and that the charge was posted the day PRIOR to our check-in. It would seem that La Laguna would have known this prior to our checkout, making it seem that much more sketchy. The topper on the visit was when I returned home, to find two invoices in my email from their 'sister' hotel, San Vicente, for 3 nights stays in their 'Matrimonial Suite', which of course we never booked. The invoices had my name, email and passport number. The only place on Isabela that I gave that information out was when I wrote it down on the sign-in sheet at the La Laguna. I notified both the La Laguna and the San Vicente of this situation, and received no reply from either. Beware, La Laguna was not a reputable establishment in my opinion, and they way they dealt with payment and personal information was incompetent at best. I don't trust them. No way we'll stay there again.

The hotel is decent, but some employees were weird and the check in is outside when it’s over 90 degrees which is unbearable after a 2 hour ferry ride. The room next to us was undergoing repairs and it started at 7.30 am with loud banging and machinery. The breakfast room has a nice view of the Laguna with flamingoes and the pool was small but nice. Be aware that check out is at 9 am which is super early and not convenient at all for many but they allowed us to use the shower of the pool to rinse after a morning at the beach. It’s ok but you can find better for the price I’m sure.

My experience here included the good and not so good observed in other reviews. The room was nice and spacious. There was a space and wiring for a tv, but no tv. I didn't miss it given that the satellite service here seems to be largely in Spanish. No safe, which seemed odd for a hotel of this type, and also no refrigerator. There is a dining room that's used for breakfast (the breakfast was basic and ok). It seemed able to do other meals and had cold drinks for sale, although this was not really advertised. There is a rooftop deck that looks like it's used for bbqs in a busier season. There are two interlocking buildings and the second one has a reception area which I assume is only used in the peak season. The location is away from the boat harbor but close to restaurants and the beach. There's also a nice panderia in the market square a few blocks away. The lagoon with flamingos is across the street. I only saw one flamingo at any times--they move among a number of lagoons in the area. The front desk closed at 8 pm and often was unattended during the day. They tried to upsell me on arrival. When I asked about arranging interisland boats, they weren't going to provide a ticket until the morning of departure which didn't seem quite right--I wanted more documentation. I wound up arranging trips and an outing to Tintorera (much recommended) through an agency in town.
