Matina Pefkos Aparthotel

I have stayed at Lemon Tree twice before Matina is the sister hotel, had family this time a 15 and 9 year old the 9 year old thought it was great with the football pitch and the pool table can not praise this complex enough the rooms etc brillant want to thank the Matina for giving my grandbairns beautiful memories of the Greek Islands as they had never been to Greece before and they loved it

We have just got back from a wonderful two weeks staying at the Martina Aparthotel. We stayed in a ground floor self catering apartment which had been freshly decorated and had all we needed for our stay. We enjoyed a secluded balcony which was shaded in the morning and had sun all afternoon. After the kids had gone to bed we enjoyed star gazing and listening to some tribute acts, I think the Beatles were my favourite. Everything you need is really on your door step, we hired a car from a place recommended by the hotel which is just up the street and explored the whole island, we stopped off at a local fish restaurant (not many tourists it was mainly for the locals) on the way back from the Aegean coast meeting the Mediterranean, a fantastic experience. There is a local shop on site called ABC, the prices were very competitive and next door was a lovely restaurant called Meltemi which stands for strong winds and one day we did witness this. The pools were reasonably warm and inviting and luckily we didn’t witness any sun bed issues, we would usually only go swimming after 4pm and a few times would be the only ones in the pool. We had a great time and my young daughters have made some lasting memories,

Ok 1st time in Greece so 1st time in Pefkos. We stayed at the Matina for 14 nites as a family of 4 , 13 & 11 year old . We initially were put in a room 1 bed 1 bathroom which was ok , a bit dated but we had no drawers in the apartment. I emailed them and also visited reception to ask for drawers . The next day I got a reply and was offered another room which we took as it was much bigger and had drawers lol . It was still a 1 bed 1 bathroom but we had much more space as the previous room was very small for a family of 4 . We had a problem with the toaster I called reception and within a few hours a brand new toaster had been delivered, our bathroom light bulb blew again called reception and it was fixed that evening . Well done Matina 👏 This place is beautiful the staff pool gardens ect kept lovely and clean . The laundry is a massive plus and saved so much hassle being able to wash ur clothes at no cost is another tick for the Matina. It's totally central to all bars restaurants amd the beach . We absolutely loved this place and have fallen in love with Pefkos. We have been to top hotels and my kids said there best holiday was the Matina and tbh its our favourite holiday also . Also having the supermarket there is awesome helps to keep the cost down if ur not wanting to eat out morning lunch & dinner especially with the kids . All in all this hotel is a winner . I've met so many people who come back year after year and I can see why. Fantastic food, great location, not mental busy and friendly staff. The choice of pools is great and also the playground is shaded so very useful during the hotter days. The onsite food is fantastic and there's also an absolute abundance of great restaurants nearby. My only criticism is the accommodation, our studio apartment was located ideally away from the pools and people noise at night (block 3) but it is incredibly small for a family of 3 with a buggy and suitcases etc. Very basic, and yes ants are a problem if you don't clean up after yourself! I would definitely return again but never ground floor again, the constant dragging of furniture overhead is painful, and wakes us every morning. It wouldn't cost much to put felt on the feet of the furniture! Cleaners do come every day, and are appreciated, but the noise is quite disappointing to an otherwise great holiday!

I rarely write a review but feel the need to following on from our 10 day holiday here. Firstly overall we did have a lovely holiday. We traveled with 3 children 14, 10 and 18 months and spent every day by the pool or beach. It was too hot for the little one to do much else and the pool was great and suited the whole family. The pool snack bar was brilliant, well priced and Stergios and the team so friendly and welcoming. The onsite shop also was a god send so convenient. We booked a year and a half ago as a holiday is something we have to budget for far in advance and it did have a kids club at the time which was a big factor in our search. When informed that this would not longer be available we were disappointed but given the great reviews we were reluctant to change holidays so decided to stay with it as it said there would still be other entertainment. I think a little mini disco for the little ones on a couple of nights would be lovely perhaps in the little stage area by the pool bar. We watched the superstars one night and we loved that so much, one of the best nights. Would have been nice to have a few more like that. We went to see the drifters too but all tables were reserved regardless of us arriving before 8pm so we had to sit close to the pool which meant it was a stressful experience with the baby so we left before it started. The self catering facilities in our room were very basic. A 2 ring hob that was impossible to tell what temp u had it on, 2 pans, one extremely large one too big for the rings and one smaller one with a lid that was too large and a frying pan. In terms of utensils there was a whisk or a ladle and only one sharp knife that was for bread. There was a microwave but we couldn't find any microwave friendly food in the shop. Needless to say we only cooked dinner 3 times and I just felt it was stressful because the lack of suitable appliances. Luckily the food at the hotel and in surrounding restaurants was lovely but we spent a lot more that we have previously self catering because of this. None of this really contributed to a negative impact on our stay the main issue we had was cockroaches. It was awful. They were all over our terrace and we found at least 10 in our room over the course of our stay. This was such a negative on our experience mainly because we have a little one having an outside space for the evening for us to sit out in is key to a positive experience. We tried on 2 evenings and whilst my partner dealt with getting rid of everyone with a glass and sheet of paper it was very stressful even for him who was ok with dealing with them. My daughter was beside herself and worried to sleep at night; to be honest I woke up through the night with the sensation they were on me; they weren't but we was all so on edge. Every night we would get back you could guarantee we would have one or two to dispose of and then my partner would check all round under beds etc. I get we are in a hot climate and perhaps it

Had the best two weeks holiday ,thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Had a lovely room in block 6 and had a great time with Stergios and David at Matina pool Bar there brilliant at there job . Matina Pefkos Aparthotel is the best hotel in Pefkos ..7 times to Pefkos 7 times in the Matina the staff are wonderful and always do there best to help … Thank you for making us have a great holiday and we’ll see you soon
