Plantation House at Whitecliffs Bed and Breakfast

We had a lovely overnight stay at Plantation House B & B Rye Victoria. The accommodation was exceptional and the host Charles was lovely and very welcoming. He is also a very good cook! He made us a wonderful breakfast. The accommodation was modernised but with heritage charm to match the house. The garden and area available to relax in was beautiful and adequate and comfortable.

We stayed one night at the upstairs room. It was a spacious and nicely decorated room. It was clean and had comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast was well cooked and presented, but it would have been nice if we had been offered freshly squeezed juice. It was well located, within easy reach to restaurants and shops. Charles was friendly and funny. Unfortunately, the private jacuzzi was not operational due to an electric fault, which we only discovered once we tried it. This left part of the room totally without power and when I informed Charles he already knew this was an issue, so could have warned us. He apologised for this in the morning. The other very small issue was that the TV was not working.

One of the best places I've stayed! Beautiful clean rooms, so warm and cosy. We had everything we needed in the room. The breakfasts are honestly amazing! Beautiful, fresh food cooked by the host Charles who is so friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. Love this place!

We stayed in the bahamas suite (spa). I thought it was really nice. Very clean, comfy beds, nice pillows and linen, TV well situated for watching, GREAT breakfast very welcoming host. Reccomended for a nice night away

The property was beautiful, clean, so many very cute details. A short walk to the beach and the shops, great location. There was a full breakfast included, cooked to perfection. Charles was a friendly and warm host. Wonderful stay, we will be back!

We had an amazing time at Charles's bnb. The place was clean, and well-maintained. Our room was spotless. You can do your laundry, have a nice dip at the indoor pool, and enjoy Charlie's proud collection of DVDs. You could tell that this man takes pride in his Bed and Breakfast. Had a great time!

Such a great weekend getaway. We stayed at the Havana Suite and it was so comfortable. The room was spotless and inviting. Bathroom is modern and spacious. The additional living space separated from the bedroom was a real plus. While the room was perfect Charles, our host was excellent. He has certainly provided a place to stay and guests to feel welcomed. The breakfast provided is as good as the reviews. While the eggs may not be cooked exactly as I like I have to admit the quality of the breakfast overall is superb. In terms of location you are just a slow 10 minutes walk from the main centre of Rye. Highly recommend as a place to recharge or as a base to explore the wider Mornington Peninsula. Thanks Charles and will see you in April.

40 years ago we probably would have loved this place but these days we are looking for something much more slick and modern. And I don't think the website pictures made the ambience very clear. Other rooms may have been more to our taste-but the price wasn't. We stayed in the Georgia room and like the reviewer below from 2012 we found the room unappealing. It was smallish and cluttered and the bathroom - just a shower and toilet- was basic. It was also noisy -especially when people were moving about upstairs. We stayed 3 nights and our room was not serviced once. This was VERY surprising given this is a traditional B&B and considering the price we paid. There was tea and coffee in the room- but cups were left unwashed and biscuits were not replenished. Bed was not made. The breakfast was good (sort of). IMO the choices were fairly limited. What was provided was of very high quality but included HUGE chunks of bread - even if you just ordered toast. Juice was canned. I would have expected freshly squeezed in this sort of establishment. We were not really asked about preferences as we had to leave a menu in the dining room the night before and breakfast was served once we appeared in the dining area.. Charles does try very hard to please and apparently succeeds most of the time going by other reviews and the visitor book . Perhaps we just made the wrong choice.

We stayed for a couples getaway and couldn’t rate it highly enough. Located in a perfect location - close to beach and shops, but set in a quiet street. Clean and fantastic amenities in the room. But the most important part is the outstanding hospitality provided by Charles, amazing breakfasts, feels just like a home away from home! Will be back. Ben and Bec
