Decameron San Luis - All Inclusive

This place has absolute horrible service. Food is awful at the buffet, you have to be up at 7 in the morning to make a reservation at the probably terrible restaurant they have but don’t expect it when you arrive because you have to wait till 3 to check in. Besides all of that the reason for this complaint is due to the bar tender serving some old lady who cuts in front of a line that formed in front of the bar (near the tennis court - Juan Carlos is apparently his name) I rarely attend all inclusive resorts and this is probably why - terrible service. Hope I save you from wasting your money and vacation time - book somewhere else if you’re going to San Andrés.

We carry out different activities in addition to diving and aquanauts; also the visit to the aquarium and the Rocky Cay Beach Club where we had lunch one of the days of our stay. The food and the different restaurants are very exquisite.

Check in There is no in advance Chek in, the personnel at the lobby desk are not helpful in resolving issues with the registration. In our case we paid for transportation from and to the airport through the hotel website. However the person at the desk said that the transportation did show up in the registration and that he can't do anything. When asked for the activities of the hotel (it is an "all inclusive" ) the same person at the lobby desk said that he does not anything about shows or presentations. Arriving early is a waste of time unless you would like to pay extra for using the hotel venues until the registration time (3pm). If you decided to come to this hotel, you are better off by paying the taxi a the airport (about $35000 COP or $9 USD) . Booking transportation through the hotel will cost you two or three times that). Wifi It is recommended to buy a local sim card, wifi is basically non existing in this hotel. It only extents about 30 ft from the lobby area. No wifi in the rooms and the quality of the connection is extremely poor. Pools There are three pools two of them are very small, about 30ft x 25ft, at the time of our registration one of them was "in maintenance " , however, there were people swimming in it without restrictions. Pools are in fair condition, maintenance signs show the decay in this hotel. Restaurants There is a buffet restaurant and a Japanese specialty restaurant. Reservations are required for the latter, the reservation is easy through the hotel website. This hotel is more than 30 years old. The buffet restaurant is antiquated. Service is good in general. However, we found ants in the desserts and the overall quality of the meals is fair. Rooms Room size is small for a family of three. (~12ft x 20ft) At the time of our visit, many of the rooms didn't have air conditioning! , however they were assigned to new travelers. There are no  A/C controls in the room. There is no coffee or tea kettles, no enough towels. (Should ask for them in the reception). Water in the island is not for drinking! .water pressure in the shower is good. Beach After the latest hurricane in 2019,  the beach in front of the hotel was eroded. There is no more than 30 to 40 ft of Beach front and a main street shall be crossed from the hotel to get to the beach. Beware of the sanitary conditions of the coconut drink stand in front of the hotel. Covid 19 There are several sanitizer stations in the hotel, however some are damaged or the sanitizer bottle have residues glued to the stations which make them look dirty. The hotel do hard cleaning of the pool deck every night. General Conditions Overall,  Decameron San Luis is an outdated "all inclusive " hotel. The maintenance is poor and it is in a state of general decay. Pools, restaurants,  lobby,  corridors, etc are not inviting.The service is poor with a few exceptions. The hotel is very small compared with the "all inclusive " standards in the Caribbean. "Yo

Hotel is dirty, rooms are dirty, staff is rude, food is OK, don’t go to this place. You will get rush out of the restaurants. They’re is no beach. No transportation between hotels anymore. Unable to make reservations for restaurants. Entertainment is OK

While the grounds are ok, the rest of the experience is terrible. The water was shut off, the air conditioning can't be controlled from the room and kept at a freezing temperature. Only 2 of the 3 restaurants are open and there was only one waiter for dinner. The app to book dinner reservations and other events does not work and has been done for days and the people at the front desk are un friendly. The free transportation does not really exist.

El hotel es muy cómodo y agradable, la alimentación muy regular, el servicio regular son poco amables la mayoría de los empleados (no todos) el hotel está muy alejado del centro de la isla y no tienen transporte propio (antes si lo tenían) por lo cual los costos para moviliz**** allí son elevados. La playa que tienen en frente es la peor de toda la isla.

NO RECOMENDADO: Si llegas antes te cobran el poder disponer de las instalaciones siendo un hotel retirado se nota que no han analizado esa parte y poderla explotar mejor. Me asignaron una habitación con el piso lleno de arena, las llaves de las duchas en muy mal estado, un televisor que no tenia una imagen buena ya había cumplido su ciclo de vida, la puerta tuvieron que venir a darnos curso para poderla abrir y cerrar de lo descuadrada que estaba. El servicio es bien regular pueden tener los alimentos, bebidas o snacks en el lugar pero si tu no eres claro y preguntas al detalle lo que quieres, los encargados personas no te ofrecen la oferta completa. la playa es muy regular. Logre al siguiente día trasladarme a otro hotel de la cadena aunque tuve que pagar un recargo en aras de salir y no dañar mi paseo familiar lo asumí.

Hotel en decadencia, he ido tres veces desde 2006, ha ido empeorando cada vez y creo que no volveré. Al hotel le falta mantenimiento, antes habían dos restaurantes temáticos, ahora los fusionaron en uno que aunque bueno, perdió la personalidad. Si vas dos noches, tres días, solamente podrás disfrutar de este restaurante una noche y eso si encuentras reserva. Nos quedamos en una habitación con vista al mar, en una torre relativamente nueva, amplia y cómoda, pero perdió le esencia isleña de las otras habitaciones, parece habitación de hotel de negocios. El hotel sufrío por la pérdida de playa y tambíen el deterioro de la carretera perimetral de la isla, pero no hacen nada por mejorar la experiencia del viajero: con ofrecer transporte al club de playa rocky cay sería suficiente, pero no solo no lo ofrecen sino que la ruta de bus que pasaba antes y facilitaba el transporte, ya no lo hace por el daño de la vía, por lo cual solo queda la opción de tomar un taxi viejo, sucio y caro. Hay muchas y mejores opciones en San Andrés, tanto de ubicación como de servicio. Se nota el cambio de dueños de la cadena Decameron.

Terrible atención del personal, incumplidos en la hora de entrega de la habitación, baños sin agua. No dan información de las actividades que se pueden realizar en el hotel. Adicional de que por error se dejo dinero en los bolsos y no apareció.
