Banana Garden la Palma

I had such a great experience staying for 5 nights at Banana Garden. The location is central, the rooms are spacious and the service and staff are amazing. The hotel is in an excellent location in the heart of the old city of Santa Cruz, just by the beach, shops and restaurants. I was there for Los Indianos, the local Carnival, and i was right in the center of the celebrations - so great. It is only 12 minutes from the airport, yet, if you are coming with a renal, you will have to pray for a street parking on the main avenue along the main beach. A better choice would be to park at Parking El Puente, 5 minutes walk away at a flat rate of €10 a day. The rooms are great, clean and modern, featuring a comfortable bed and a coffee set, great large walkin shower and kitchenette. There is a small balcony with a beautiful view of the ocean and the spectacular sunrise. The only thing the room is missing was more drawers and a safe (Alternatively you can use the main reception safe). Breakfast was very tasty and fresh, made out of local produce, with great coffee from a propper espresso machine, and baked pastries. Last but not least is the hotel's exceptional staff, especially Daniella who always ready to help, and Sabrina that knows and recommends amazing special restaurants, POI's, and places known only for locals. I highly recommend the hotel, and If I return to La Palma, I will definitely choose this hotel again.

There are about 10 rooms in this little hotel with cafe. The owners are obviously exceptionally proud of the place and there is a great deal of attention to detail. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom had a great shower. The breakfast was good but the room a little cramped. I think they tried to space people out but it wasn’t always successful. The staff were at all times friendly and professional. Personally I felt that the room was a little Spartan. Would have been nice to have more pictures and colour in the room. We didn’t need the kitchenette and perhaps a room without it, would have been cosier.

Fabian greeted us upon arrival and provided better local information than we obtained from ANY of our previous hotels. His English is Perfect, very helpful for us. He knows the island well, allowing him to provide great tourist advice. If you arrive by bus from the airport, note that there is a bus stop past Parade Nord that brings you closer to the hotel. We agree with the other positive reviews about this place, so won't repeat them. Highly recommend.

This is a review for the rooftop bar only as we did not stay here. It is a small hotel in a quiet street in the town. If you are not staying, there is a minimum charge for drinks on the roof terrace. It is a small roof terrace and we were on our own. Lovely views out over the beach. We had two rounds of the signature cocktail which was banana based and delicious. Despite bananas growing everywhere, no other bar or hotel could make us a banana daiquiri so this was brilliant. And there were plantain chips to get with it. This place seem a good example of sustainable, local tourism to be encouraged in La Palma and a world away from the tacky places that the cruise ship people get funnelled towards.

We spent a lovely couple of nights in Banana Garden in a huge room with a little kitchenette and wet room, all very contemporary, stylish and spotlessly clean AND a sea view. Breakfast in the little cafe was charming, and very eco and the staff were very relaxed and helpful.

Stayed for 3 nights and no complaints at all. Perfectly situated for access to the town but a quiet street. Room was very big and spotlessly clean with excellent shower. Breakfast is good with high quality produce. Staff are all friendly and professional. Would stay again
