Don't let my tardiness in the review take away from how much we enjoyed our stay. To experience as much as we could we decided split our trip to Grenada in two locations. And after reading some reviews on this site and other research we chose petit anse for the first leg and definitely made a good choice. We didn't want to try the driving ourselves so we arranged airport pickup through the hotel, and it couldn't have been easier. Our driver spotted us before we saw him and we are off in minutes. He was able to stop at the ATM and at a shop for some beer and snacks for the room, as well as history of the beautiful island. It was about an hour and half drive up(glad we didn't do it ourselves). Upon arrival we were met immediately by Donna, her friendliness and enthusiasm let us know we were in for a fantastic stay. We were led to our ocean front cabin, with a porch and hammock looking directly out to the grenadines. Really all the rooms had spectacular views. The gardens were very well kept and beautiful. Since it's the north side the waves are relentless, but you could swim and play in them and made for an extremely peaceful night's sleep. The shower was private but looked out to the ocean, very cool. The room was large and had a fridge, ac worked great and very clean. There was a nice pool right by the bar/restaurant that overlooked the ocean. Also very clean and plenty of lounge chairs. We made friends with Marvin the bartender right away and he made sure we weren't thirsty. Explaining the various rums from Grenada, make sure you try Rivers. Also ask him for a jungle bird. His friendliness was indicative of how the hotel is run. We had the half board plan and it was perfect for us. Excellent breakfasts you can get traditional Grenadian breakfast with pickled fish and baked (kind of a fritter) and cocoa tea (hot chocolate). Or even an English style breakfast, as the owners are English. And a nice greeting from the local cats. Dinner was also very good, it was slow season so some of the dishes were repetitive especially with fish, but it was all very good and well made. One of the truly best aspects of Petit Anse is how they really go out of their way to provide you with opportunities to see this side of the island. We hired a guide to take us to Belmont estate, he waited while we took the fantastic tour (bring bug repellent the flies are necessary for the chocolate but your legs will pay for it). We had lunch with him there, great buffet. Then he drove us to pearls airport, never driven on an air***** before. Next was Rivers distillery, you could smell it a mile away. If you like Rum you need to go. And finally we stopped at the bathway Beach. A fantastic day, all set up by petit anse. Our final excursion was to sandy island, this is a must. The hotel provides you with food and beer for a picnic, transportation to the pier at sauters, a local fisherman takes you to the uninhabited island. We had the whole island to ourselves and had a lunc
