Casa Makawe Only Adults

Nice place in a very good location about two blocks from the main square — close enough to the action and far enough away from the noise. It’s also about a 10-minute walk to Playa Los Muertos, which is quieter and better for swimming than the main beach. The rooftop pool was nice, and I liked having a combination lock for the room rather than a key card. Sur 38 on the ground floor is a good spot for breakfast. My one complaint is the mattress. It’s just too hard, and I prefer a firm bed.

Horrible customer service doesn't adequately convey my experience at Casa Makawe. Abelardo and his staff were actively hostile. I came late in a friend's visit to CW to spend several days with her. Abelardo demanded extra payment, despite the room's capacity being three, and demanded that payment be made outside of Airbnb via cash. Abelardo proceeded to follow and intimidate my friend and I. We are two females alone in a foreign country. He sent many messages on Airbnb and would take my friend aside in person to mention where and when he saw our comings and goings on his cameras. He and his maintenance manager would glare at us every time we passed by them. There was one day he stood in the staircase when my friend needed to get by and would not move; I assume as means of intimidation. We rented a golf cart and asked where it needed to be parked and he demanded payment prior to telling us the location. Abelardo exhibited exploitive behavior. Admittedly, my friend and I could have read the details of this Airbnb more closely. We did not realize my presence or the request for extra towels one week into my friend's 19 day stay would be such an issue. We responded to his requests kindly, however, and were met with wildly inappropriate hostility. He will require that you pay for extra towels and cleaning, regardless of length of stay. He will demand payment for guests that vary in amounts from day to day depending on his mood. When we lost power and WiFi for a full day, we were just out of luck. He will make your stay unbelievably uncomfortable. There are better priced, better staffed locations throughout the town. I would not recommend this Airbnb to anyone, but I would actually vehemently recommend that female guests stay away. You will not feel safe in a building owned by Abuelardo. We ended up leaving in the middle of our stay and going to a delightful hotel in Northside that cost less, had better amenities, and had a warm and welcoming staff.

We had a wonderful five night stay at Casa Makawe (Adults only). Juan was extremely helpful and answered our questions quickly. The roof top pool was nice and relaxing with views of Sayulita. We booked a queen bed and worked great for us, the room had a full kitchen and a hammock to lounge in. Casa Makawe is just a few minutes from the town center and 5-10min to the beach. There is a small restaurant Sur38 and a coffee shop 50 feet from the main entrance of the Casa.

All the reviews for this place are 100% accurate. Aaron was a very helpful and responsive host. Cannot beat the location. Even tho the town was bustling and busy, the unit could be sealed tight so no outside noise came in. Add the black out blinds and the result was an epic nights sleep. Furniture was cozy. Place was very clean. Kitchen was stocked. Pool and our patio was amazing. The YahYah cafe was conveniently located right out front so great breakfast awaited us every morning. We stayed in a couple other places on this trip and everything squeaked or wobbled or rattled or leaked. But Casa Makawe was properly maintained. We very much appreciated how whisper quiet it could get.

The only complaint is that we didn’t stay longer! We loved everything about this place. The decor, the location, everything was amazing! Aaron was super responsive and made our trip that much better. It’s a short walk to everywhere you need to go. We will definitely be back!

I would describe the room as simple with IKEA level comfort. I felt like I was staying in my sons on-campus college apartment most of the stay. While the rooms have been recently remodeled the low level of up keep and wear are already apparent. The modern bohemian vibe was achieved. Pros: Great location, close to town and beach Very chlorinated pool was relaxing Very responsive staff that provided us with a new teapot when ours was broken for morning tea. Cons: Room shower only had scalding hot or cold shower but couldn’t achieve warm. No hot water at bathroom sink or kitchen ( We realized last day that the BR valve was shut off but turning it on produced flooding) Construction, construction,construction- not very peaceful. The kitchen sink, refrigerator, shower and toilet were in need of some bleach cleaner to rid of mold. Refrigerator left food with funky taste which made me have low confidence that the water filter on room filter had been changed recently or ever. Not a bad choice of wanting a nice room in Sayulita. I think this girl is just getting a bit too old for the bohemian lifestyle.

Fantastic boutique hotel! Stayed on the 3rd floor balcony room! Could not ask for anything more great location and wonderful accommodations! Yaz the concierge went above and beyond to make our trip fabulous! Can’t wait to come back and enjoy your new wine bar opening downstairs! Thank you!

Casa Makawe is a home away from home. 10/5 STARS ⭐️! After arriving later than expected, at night tired hungry and dehydrated we were greeted with fresh sparkling water warm welcomes, tequila shots and cold beer. The staff were so friendly and super kind. We love this spot as it is central to everything but a bit off the main commotion of the town. It was quiet while sleeping and we felt safe and happy in our luxurious queen standard room. I wish we took more pictures but honestly we didn’t feel we needed a larger room as we only used it for sleeping and getting our belongings. The king standards are great as well and include a bit more space but if you are only 2 and spend most time outside you will love the queen rooms. Everything was spotless and we even had a deck! We loved the hammock in the room as well as the pool on the roof. We never used the elevator but it is there if you want a break from stairs. Thank you so much Casa Makawe! We had a great time!
