In hindsight, Scalloway was probably not the best choice for a place to stay in Shetland. Lerwick would have been better with a large choice of restaurants for dinner. As far as we could tell there were only two in Scalloway, the one at this hotel (open every evening) and Da Haaf (only open for dinner on a Friday and Saturday) a fifteen minute walk from the hotel. Our room (211) was ok, and the bed comfortable, but the en-suite was quite small. Being directly above the bar, the room could be noisy especially on Saturday night. A limited continental breakfast was included in the room price, with the option of paying extra for a cooked breakfast. For dinner, the menu had quite a wide choice of dishes and, apart from a couple of minor issues, the food was generally satisfactory. Although some of the staff didn’t appear to be particularly experienced, the service throughout our stay was good and friendly.
