We booked a double room at the Tri-Star Hotel to see a live gig at the Birmingham NEC. The hotel has Free parking which, in this day and age, you usually have to pay for. From the rear of the hotel you could see Birmingham Airport which was great as my son is a huge airplane enthusiast (took some pics for him). There are rooms you can book with views of the airport; which i will be booking this year. The rooms were comfy and quaint, with the usual coffee and tea making facilities, soaps and shower/hair products and TV. The staff were exceptionally helpful, polite, knowledgeable and great to converse with. Lovely hot breakfast in the morning; served 7am - 9am. I'm a coeliac and I was able to have a full English. Bar available for pre-gig drinks. A short taxi ride to the NEC, for around £7, where you will find a great selection of shops and restaurants. It is possible to walk or bus. Lovely garden area to the rear. Pool table next to the dining room. Check out was by midday, which is excellent, and a couple hours later than other hotels. The hotel has been there since the 1970s and I will definitely be staying there again this year. I'm not sure of the cost as my friend payed for the room?
