I really wanted to like this place but due to a very poor experience with one of the staff members, Giovanna, I can't recommend it. When we asked about using the hot tub (at end of Sept), she said it was only open from June to mid September and when I mentioned that this was not made clear anywhere on their website she told me it was clearly stated on *********** and rudely added "some people only see what they want to see". I explained again that we had booked directly via their own website where hot tub opening season was not mentioned at all. She said that instead of assuming it would be available we should have called beforehand to check... She then proceeded to rant about how unreasonable guests generally were when complaining about things like airport transfers (completely irrelevant and unprofessional). There have been complaints made about her in previous reviews which is no surprise but management clearly do not care enough about their guests to pay attention. Also misleading is the main photo on the homepage of the website of the large beautifully tiled black and white terrace (which by the way is not available to anyone except guests booked into a separate apartment). The terrace available to most guests is the much smaller terracotta tiled one. The room itself was fine, the bathroom well appointed and the views from the terrace were lovely. The other lady we encountered during our stay cleaning and setting out breakfast was very friendly and smiley. However, had we known what we now know, for the price of the room and with the large terrace and hot tub unavailable, we would have chosen to book elsewhere. On check out there was more drama - they charged us for city tax which is normal in Italy. We assumed payment for the room was being charged to the card we made the booking with as has most often been the case at other hotels. Once we had left and were waiting at the airport for our flight home we got a message saying they forgot to take payment for the room and could we please send them payment card details over WhatsApp. As we did not think WhatsApp was a secure way to send our card details we asked for their bank info so we could make a bank transfer instead. Giovanna seemed reluctant to do this but gave in eventually. If you do really want to book a room at this place, 1) be aware it is definitely a B&B not a hotel (we met other guests during our stay who were confused about this and expected a proper hotel), 2) I would advise booking via *********** as information seems more correct on there and you may avoid the payment issue we experienced and 3) don't expect great customer service from Giovanna. Having worked in hospitality myself I know that no matter what has gone down, staff members have the power to use friendliness and charm to prevent leaving a negative impression with their guests. Unfortunately after 3 nights at La Terrazza 38, our lasting impression is of Giovanna's poor attitude and rude behaviour which would be unac
