Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa

Stirling
So I want to write an honest review when I read other reviews before coming I panicked , This was a weekend trip for my 40th I’ll agree that reception staff aren’t the friendliest or great at giving any information but that aside Check in was smooth got to room it was huge immaculate and had everything we needed for our base Off to the soa reception here far friendlier and helpful amazing massage pool area is small but was perfect for us could use more chairs but didn’t really affect us sauna and steam room are ideal and there’s a lovely view out the window Dinner at the garden restaurant was impeccable food was a high standard a little expensive but it was very good ! Staff here weee very attentive no complaints Afternoon tea was epic ! Scones are baked fresh and still warm we had to take a doggy bag and sat the next day with this over coffee ! Amazing ! Breakfast was lovely and fresh buffet area is juices toasts pastries and jams and cereals the rest is ordered and brought to you I will say the last day was the busiest and so feel they are under staffed but they worked hard to make sure everyone had what they needed and wanted ! The bar yes prices are a bit high gin and tonic around 7/8 pounds pint around 5 a coffee 5.50 so a little annoying however we had a massive supply and were given as many buckets of ice as we required and we could also take these outside with no problem The rafters ! The manager here was so lovely we had went along on Sunday to play pool have a drink then grab some dinner he explained between one and 6 it was a Sunday dinner he also showed us a Sunday dinner to help us decide if this is an option when your there go for it best Sunday dinner I’ve had it was a sharing board or tender roast beef and chicken lots of veg and a creamed cabbage to die for fyi I hate cabbage and this was demolished Back to the room housekeeping come everyday we did send them away as were ralxing in room and they came later ! There was no conditioner but reception provided me some and brought to my room issue with the iron again sorted straight away The surroundings are beautiful then right across the round is operation play outdoors we hired a canoe went across the lake and round about was lovely they have archery paddle boat a little coffee and snack stand ! And the absolute highlight of our trip was nick Nairns restaurant if you get the chance you need to go phenomenal doesn’t even cover it !!! It’s around. 20 minute drive and it’s honestly spectacular ❤️

The hotel was very modern and clean. In addition the evening meal was great value for money and the black pudding at breakfast was divine. Similarly the rooms were very pleasing and the beds were luxurious. Word of advice though, watch out for the breakfast lady with purple hair. A fair number of my travelling party experienced her lack of customer service, even our coach driver mentioned it, making a joke of it on the bus tannoy. Despite this, all other staff were great and the hotel is a great place. We'll worth a visit.

Short drive to the sites.
