Hotel Sven Vintappare

The hotel is located in a 16th or 17th century building right in Gamla Stan, a very charming location. Noise from the streets can be an issue, however. The room was nice, but with a lot of stairs to climb. For elderly people, this would not be possible. For breakfast, you get very good quality bread, croissants and pastry, with good jams and a selection of some cheese and cold cuts. Also, coffee, tea, cappuccino etc. Unfortunately, on the second day, a different staff member, female, was in charge of breakfast. While her colleague was charming and service oriented, she was absent most of the time, did not even offer Cappuccino or other drinks. We assume she is also the person that forgot to put the keys in the rooms for later check-in (reception closed at 1 pm!) - meaning we stood in front of a locked door on the next day, and had to call for help. Overall, we expected more for the money that we spent.

I love this hotel. We were on the 4th floor and yes we walked up those winding stairs and I loved it. To experience the history where so many have walked before me makes my heart swell. The room was cozy and comfortable, we slept with our window open, something we wouldn’t do at home and felt utterly safe and sound. Yes nighttime sounds are a bit noisy, but they provide earplugs and they work quite well and we could have shut our window. Breakfast was cereal, baked goods, boiled eggs and a breakfast charcuterie. Juices, yogurts, coffees and teas were provided and customized. The young women presiding over breakfast were lovely and accommodating. We spent three nights here and it was sublime. If you stayed longer it might get wearing taking the stairs. Our short stay was just right.

This is not a hotel. It is an old building with bedrooms, more like an AirBnB. It does not hav a reception or any of the services that you normally find in a hotel. There was no breakfast (in the tiny breakfast room) when I left for work at 0715. Rooms are very loud. Sound proofing is nonexistent.

16th century building so full of tiny twisted stair cases, sloping floors and twisted door frames. If you don’t want to carry bags up a narrow staircase or have a tiny bathroom or crooked floor then this is not the place for you. However if you want old world charm and uniqueness with lots of quirks with great comfort and location you just found it!! Right in the heart of Old Town up a narrow cobbled lane is a small doorway that leads to the very very small hall, no lobby just tiny steps up and stone ones down. Breakfast is also in a tiny room but is good with fresh breads and pastries, cheeses, meats and cereals. Great coffee too!! The staff are friendly and the rooms comfortable and beds comfy. Our bathroom in room 1 was tiny and its door frame was low but it was perfect once you’d hit your head once or twice as my husband of 5”9 did, 5”7 seemed ok to me!! Loved the place and would happily stay again.

This is a small hotel (only 7 rooms) in the heart of Gamla Stan. The front desk is only manned until 1pm, but we had no issues at all, and they are easily contactable. The room was clean, stylish with a comfy bed. It was fairly compact, but we had everything we needed and were very comfortable. There was a very good continental breakfast which was really fresh and tasty. They do make a really good cappuccino. Staff were very friendly and helpful and always had a smile and this makes a big difference. Just one thing worth knowing - The stairs are pretty steep, so I would not recommend it if you have mobility issues. If not, this is a great place to stay - We loved it and want to return again for our next trip to the lovely city of Stockholm.

A cozy small hotel with 7 rooms in the old town. The building is from the 17th century. Very friendly staff and tasty breakfast with home-made granola. There are stairs to climb, so don't bring a heavy suitcase. Ideal for a weekend trip.

The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff are friendly. It’s great for exploring the city by foot as the location is in the heart of Stockholm. The breakfast is good with plenty of choice. The only bad thing is the noise as there are many bars with outdoor seating. I recommend taking wax earplugs.

Everything is still great about this place but last time I stayed in a room where the floor is a slope, it's almost like you roll out of bed. Spent my time part seasick, part enjoying the place. Just keep that in mind when choosing this hotel.
