The George & Dragon Hotel

I stayed here i enjoyed this stay. I did boil the ketrle.and that just before leaving . Dr otteker i added as the water cam be dubiiois .the demand for this water is high so i add a cleaner and i passed the water via a brita style filter . Its nice for comlan. The riom is cold fpr.me this is super i need cold as heat can might may be bad news? So thr electruc stpped Hmm Then it seems the kettle was not on a trip circuit tp syop a nlown fuse in the plug of thr ketyel it been a no**ality to have a kettel over flow. I diid not shower as i found the amount of wayer is difficult to.keep many areas as this in constant sypply I neede dot be hydrated if i wash that does not happen ..and i spebt two.days readdresi g g this need .. Advjce tp all hotels.os hav3 a ketgle.with glass hwrer the customer sees the water is dirty or clean..it.is.a.beyyer sytem.not.rto be too.well.its water . ?

Friends told me to check this place out. I visited with a few friends and this place is referred to as a hotel more like a below average B&B. Had lunch there with a few friends and the food was not that nice to say the least. Will not be going back there that is for sure.

Booked our wedding here which was confirmed and deposit paid. Proprietor has since cancelled claiming venue had been double booked. Not what I’d expect from a wedding venue. Must be difficult to double book if you have any sort of simple diary system in place. Only suggestion from them was that we change everything else we had booked to a day that suited them and maybe then they could offer some sort of compensation. No thank you, trust gone and what’s the likely hood of everyone being able to meet the new date. More costs to us to change already booked services. No compensation offered for the inconvenience and proprietor doesn’t respond to emails now. Shame to have to leave a negative review due to no effort made to compensate. Couldn’t recommend based on lack of customer care.

Had my uncles 80th birthday here 24 people to celebrate, the food,ambience and staff were lovely, bar area good . But accomodation very tired looking , the hotel had heating issues on arrival to which they told us , had to all get ready in one room (8 of us ) , said issues would be sorted , most were , but our room no electric only main light worked, heating didn't TV , power points , could not use kettle , bitterly cold to . You need to deep clean rooms and freshen up as upstairs really lets this lovely place down , I shall not be returning or recommending the accommodation..

When my Mother spoke to this Hotel to book rooms for our family get together She asked about cancellation and was told that this hotel has a no refund policy but they would be willing to move to another date and this seamed reasonable. However when my Father was taken seriously I’ll into Hospital it had to be decided to postpone our Family gathering and my Mother called the Hotel to inform them that under the circumstances we would like to move our Booking. We were told this was not possible. That Day they took the full £558 from my parents credit card I emailed them asking them to honour the agreement and they replied they were only willing to allow a 50 % discount on a further Booking The attitude of this Hotel to its customers is absolutely disgusting and don’t deserve to succeed in this business.

This is a pub with a screen for watching sports and there music at night so as to set the scene. It is the same price as The Bull in Long Melford and I have stayed at both so here is a little bit of help to the owners. Refurb your rooms a bit. Toilet burped at night so probably a broken macerator, carpet in bathroom isn’t a good idea, only one pillow, mattress hard, bed rickety. The priority is to fix the outside back door which you can push open without a key. So anyone can walk in out of the street if they chance it and be outside the bedroom doors in a jiffy. Staff need to really care for their guests’ comfort or at least look and sound like they do. This isn’t a high end hotel so don’t be officious. Your first word to guests should feel like a welcome and ‘yes we can’. I know you guys can do it and I will stay again in the future .. just to check you have 😁 Lovely breakfast!!

Hotel rooms were OK, but main light didnt work, but the bedside lamps did. Our travelling companions had the opposite. Beds could have done with replacing as a bit rickety. Breakfast was the fun part being moved FOUR times. We sat on one table only to be told it was reserved (Despite no sign to show this). So we moved into a table in the bar area & went to get coffee. We returned to find another couple sat there, so we went to another table. We were then invited to sit at the original table in the restaurant area only to be then told after moving it was in fact reserved so we went back to the table we had just been moved from. Breakfast itself was very nice, but despite specifically requesting one without beans, he still came out with one with. So I had to wait again while my partner ate for him to return with one without. It later transpired that the table was reserved for a 'regular' customer. Which as they pay the same as everyone else should not be given preferential tra**ent to the detriment of other guests. I wont be returning

Young staff helpful and cheerful. Older ones had more a take it or leave it attitude. Room shabby dirty nets curtains and mould around window. Bed itself and carpet clean enough, bathroom ok, but room needed a deep clean and lick of paint. Not that expensive so if you don’t expect too much , you won’t be disappointed.

This place is in desperate need of some updating. The bedroom was cramped and the carpet has seen better days, though the bed itself was OK. The bathroom was very shabby with cracked tiles and peeling paint. The shower screen also looked like it hadn't had a proper clean in a long time. We popped down for a teatime pint and found one other person in the bar. Maybe if they'd turned off the godawful country and western music they'd entice a few people in. Personally I love a bit of George Jones et al, but not when I'm having an apres work pint in the pub. I was dreading breakfast but happy to say it was excellent, and that dragged the score up slightly.
