Kiota Inn, Ascend Hotel Collection

Newly remodeled and looks great. However the most important part of a hotel is a good night’s sleep and that does not happen here because the bed is so incredibly hard. Like sleeping on plywood! The pillows were also terrible! The continental breakfast is minimal at best and not up to the norm of a Choice hotel. The only gluten free option was yogurt and fruit.

I attended a wedding in Sutter Creek tonight. We booked a room at the Kiota Inn... It didn't dawn on me that they never took a credit card from me. Since I had booked months before I figured I had already paid. We went to the wedding and it's now 1030 at night - they start banging on the door and calling the phone. They were asking for a credit card. I told the woman at the door I'll drop it off in the morning and she said OK. 5 minutes later the phone is ringing off the hook again... I got out of bed and answered.. Michael the desk person was asking for the card. I explained that the woman at the door said to do it in the morning. He said he was calling the sheriff to have us thrown out. I got my clothes on, went down there and asked him do you know what time it was. Apparently he was on the phone with the sheriff to have a us evicted… And he refused to take the card… I turned to go back to the room and he threatened me with a trespassing charge. I said my wife is asleep and to go ahead and do what he needed to - my language had a particular flourish So here it is the middle of the night we're driving home The place should NOT be open... it is a construction site not a hotel. Zero amenities and you have to walk clear around the building to get inside... what a dump.

Do not book this place! There is no restaurant, no Wi-Fi and thus no TV or phone service since everything runs through their WiFi!! We had to use our cell phones to call the desk! No breakfast either! A few muffins and coffee - desk clerk said they were out if bagels even though there were only 6 cars in the lot and there was a bowlful of cream cheese in the mini frig! Another guest came down to get some tea - there was none. The rooms are big and all remodeled but that doesn’t make up for the lack of amenities they claim to have! Beds hard with no pillow top. The pillars out front are only halfway covered in concrete with the tar paper exposed - but the planters are all filled with fresh flowers which tells us someone walked away from finishing the remodel. After reading reviews, evidentially this place has been “being remodeled for 5+ years! “ the sign out front says there is a bar - there is not. Trust is - stay away until they can get the place finished, get new management, and get WI-FI!!

Totally dissatisfied!! I had requested an early check-in as I had a fundraising event I was volunteering at. They said they had no record of it. Thankfully I was able to get a room and shower after being at the range all morning and early afternoon. Except that the shower had not been cleaned and I almost slipped and fell because it was slippery due to some soapy substance that hadn’t been cleaned out of the shower. When I got to the fundraising event that benefits our First Responders and Veterans, I went to purchase my raffle tickets before I had to start my volunteer work, and was unable to use my debit card. The Kiota Inn wound up charging me for my room and the incidentals TWICE!!! When I got back from the event, the young man behind the desk insisted that it would be taken care of by morning. When I checked my account the next morning there were two more holds to my debit card. This added up to a total of over $630 in holds for a $170 room. The room itself seemed to be ok despite the unique smell. The other problem was that there was not a darker curtain to block out the sun and was woken up in the extremely early hours of the morning. The young lady that helped me with my tv not working was the nicest young lady working there.

They are still in the process of remodeling. That was no problem and what is finished is very nice. I had a very nice room and except for one employee I was treated very well. The breakfast is minimal but fine. I was impressed in the nice little touches they did while remodeling. I would give them 5 stars except for the afternoon clerk that was snappy and rude. Everyone else was wonderful. I would highly recommend a stay here.

This hotel is undergoing a total renovation and it is looking great. There are several areas still under construction, but we experienced no noise or inconvenience. The rooms are beautifully appointed with very comfortable bedding , soft towels and in the wall A/C that works very well. The floor coverings , paint and wall art are all very tasteful and well done. The staff are friendly and excited about how the place will be when complete. The location in Sutter Creek is perfect to use as a base for exploring the Gold Rush history in and around the town as well as the numerous wineries within a few mile radius. There are tasting rooms in the town also. This is the heart of Zinfandel country! The "down town" of Sutter Creek is a short walk and I recommend using the back streets to get a feel for the real history and ambience of this very cool town.

First of all, the view from the photos is NOT the real site..They are in mist of a remodel and it has a single elevator, changed entrance from the REAR, the photo of the front is not correct..There is NO front entrance!. After checking in, the room was past construction areas and entered with a passkey. large enough room with NO closet or hangers for clothes!. Had to use a picture frame. NO shower door or curtain ...New bed so the sleep was fine and the television had many channels to relax by..Was pleased that we stayed ONLY 1 night!

This facility is NOT NEWLY RENOVATED. It is currently under renovation. You have to enter through the back door. The room decor was nice but the door was not weather *****ped-you could see light around all 3 sides and you could hear all sound in the hallway. The phone in the room didn't work. The shower door is nice but it doesn't stay closed. When all the work is done I think this will be a very nice place to stay but for now be aware that it is underconstruction.

Manager is one of the most unpleasant humans I've ever encountered. We overlooked the major fiasco checking in when their key system went down and they sent us to another hotel at 1am. We didn't mind that the hotel is under construction and the lobby, entrance and most common spaces are an absolute mess. The rooms are actually very nice and most of the staff is wonderful. It was checking out at 10:45am when I politely waited for the manager to finish chain smoking and taking personal calls in the entryway and asked for an extra 30min to check out because we were waiting for a ride to pickup our car which was left at a wedding venue. She was incredibly rude and unacammdating and insisted that the fire marshal was coming to inspect the hotel and all rooms needed to be vacated by 11am, which is absolute nonsense. She then suggested we leave our belongings in the lobby, which was completely unattended at all times because she was out smoking and talking on the phone all day. Absolute garbage person and she has no place in hospitality. Find a new manager after the remodel.
