Très bel hôtel moderne, chambres spacieuses et bien équipées. Au calme mais excentré de la ville. Personnel très agréable qui ne chôme pas vu qu'ils se partagent entre la réception et le bar restaurant. Restaurant avec carte très variée à prix abordable. Breakfast complet.

Externally Thurso Premier inn is very tired (work being done on this). Inside the welcome was very friendly. Spoke to reception to check in, way better than using their checkin machines(broken anyway). Room was huge, spotlessly clean. Only down is the window did not open and the nets are sad. Who ever hung them used the minimal material. Ate there both nights as the weather was bad, service was very good, friendly and professional. food well cooked although the steak needed seasoning when being cooked.

My partner and I had such a lovely stay, and a big part of that was thanks to Zara . From the moment we arrived, she greeted us with a warm smile and a genuinely cheerful attitude that made us feel so welcome. Throughout our visit, she was incredibly helpful, attentive, and always professional,nothing was ever too much trouble. Her positive energy is infectious, and it’s clear she takes great pride in her work. She went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Thankyou again !!

Room was lovely and clean. The staff in the restaurant where fabulous. Really helpful and friendly. Big shout out to Zara, Megan, Emma and Ross for looking after us. Food was just what we wanted, many thanks to Luke and Hannah in the kitchen.

Very poor customer service, all staff were miserable. Extremely long check-in, despite an automatic check-in facility. Reservation for dinner did not make it from reception to dining room, we were forced to go out at 8pm and find an alternative. Car park was restricted, as park of it was fenced off. Did not feel like a valued customer.

Checked in Tuesday night, went straight to dinner. Ordered a medium steak. What arrived was over-cooked beyond belief, no staff approached the table to ask how things were. They did other tables, though I could not get their attention. I chewed through a bit and gave up. When paying the bill I was asked if everything was ok, so I explained why my meal was so poor, I even directed them to my unfinished meal. The response, ‘sorry to hear that, that’ll be £20.94 please’. No interest whatever, just going through the motions of what they’d be trained to say. Went to shower later, the shower gel container was empty. So I had to hop in and out to use the hand cleaner next to the sink! The following morning (Wednesday) I asked for it to be refilled. I was told it’d be done that morning. Arriving back late that evening I went to shower.. no shower gel! Went to breakfast at 0635 on Thursday. Most things were rather overcooked, every fried egg was solid. I complained again that morning about the shower gel, when I arrived back on Thursday night, it had been refilled. I checked out the following morning.

Our room was clean and comfortable. It's very convenient to the train station. Even though our room overlooked the train station, it was quiet. Like many places these days, the hotel seemed a little short staffed. Perhaps it was just that quite a few people were checking in at the same time. Another guest tried to use the self-check-in kiosk, but it didn't seem to be any faster.

If you want to catch the early train south from Thurso, the Premier Inn next door to the station is the place to spend the night. Premier Inns specialize in "no worries," and this one delivers on that. We were passing through Thurso, from the Stromness-Scrabster ferry. The bus from the ferry port drops you several blocks from the train station, sp expect to walk--but you'll do that at some point, and we preferred to get the walk out of the way. Location aside, the staff were great, and Premier Inn delivered on its basic promise--decent food, a comfortable room, and the often unstaffed train station just around the corner. Food is important here--Thurso may have some good options, but if you are passing through, you really don't want to have to go searching. Some people like "character" in hotels, and you don't get that from Premier Inn--what you get is confidence, that everything is going to be alright. For two Americans on our one-and-only trip to Scotland, this was exactly what we wanted.
