The heating system of the hotel did not work. I asked reception, they told me they were fixing it. After a while, they gave me a handy heating fan which was so noisy and didn’t heat well.

I had stayed in this house before, even a few times, but a long time ago. Now I was shocked, because the way the property is run down is very scary and also very disappointing. What is fine as before: the location in the city is good and the Wi-Fi worked. But that was unfortunately already the positive experiences this time. The reception is only staffed until 22:00, so the concierge came right away also with the saying: I'm out of here, it's time to go home. Room card and bye. In the room, which at first superficial glance seemed fine, there were then the really disappointing surprises. And: A room change was now no longer possible because of the missing concierge. The main defect was the bed: Apparently the mattress is broken, because about 1000 nylon rods with a length of about 1mm pecked through the sheet when you sat or lay on it. That's how a fakir must feel. A pincushion of the finest. Every time I turned around I was awake with pain, so after two hours I decided to sleep the rest of the night in an armchair. Next to it, the facade spotlights shone into the room, and the darkening with blinds and curtains, which were not wide enough, worked only partially. Some of the furniture was really broken and the smoke detector was only visible as a socket on the ceiling. Next to it a lively cable tangle, which was obviously not built to the end. Also in the area of the corridors everywhere a considerable renovation backlog: letters of the lettering were missing, scuffs on the walls. The next morning at the reception, I complained about the night in the seating to the lady, who also tried to appease that problem, but could not or would not respond to my request for a 50% discount on the room rate. I also could not accept a free breakfast due to the upcoming customer appointment. My colleagues thought that I should have been fully reimbursed for the "night". A subsequent mail to the administration resulted in a 10% discount on the price. In summary: I think a new owner or management that will make the Plaza into one again, an it is urgently advised. It used to be a good hotel, but now it feels like the old GDR: no one cares anymore because no one owns it.

Our newly renovated room on the 4th floor was spacious and modern. However, it lacked storage space in the bathroom which had plenty of tiled walls without hooks or shelves. The hotel is under renovation and work begins about 10.00a.m. so don’t expect to sleep in over the noise of the power tools. Our window looked onto the railway line, and we did hear the infrequent trains throughout the night. The hotel is less than 2 kms walking distance to the Schwerin Castle and the old town. A couple of small complaints, the hotel would not change our 50 Euro note into smaller denominations, I was told that was because “the boss would be angry”. I asked for a cup of ice to take to our room on the first night and the request was refused. The request was made at reception and initially the man said he would get it, then someone from a rear office said something to him and I was told that they had no ice. On our second night, I asked the bartender for ice to take to my room and it was provided. I expect to be able to get ice at a hotel that charges the price we paid here despite whether I ask the bar tender or the person at reception.

Ein 4 Sterne Hotel ist es, aber eins, was in die Jahre gekommen ist! Die Zimmer waren alle modernisiert und wirkten sehr neu und sehr sauber. Allerdings haben einige Lichtschalter bei uns nicht funktioniert und in der Nacht gingen aufgrund von Bewegungsmeldern die Beleuchtungen unter den Nachttischen an. Das war störend! Die Betten war für uns persönlich ein wenig zu weich und man hatte ständig das Gefühl, dass man nach außen rauskullert. Das Büffet war ok, es war alles vorhanden, aber teilweise war das eine oder andere auch schnell leer. Die Sauberkeit hat mich im Frühstücksbereich ein wenig gestört! Die Möbel im Frühstücksbereich waren alle mit rotem Samt bezogen und wirkten für mich daher optisch auch in die Jahre gekommen. Auf den Fensterbrettern innen waren viele tote Fliegen und Mücken zu finden. Die Sonnenrollos außen standen vor Dreck! So sollte es in einem 4 Sterne Hotel nicht aussehen! Tiefgarage für 11,50 die Nacht war ok. Mit großen Fahrzeugen sollte man da acht geben. Ansonsten ist das Hotel sehr zentral.

Gute Lage, perfekte und super ausgestattete Zimmer. Im Hotel überall Ruhe und Erholung. Reichhaltiges Frühstück.

Ein tolles Hotel in Schwerin um die Stadt kennen zu lernen. Wenige Minuten von der Innenstadt und vom Schloss Schwerin entfernt bietet das Hotel einen perfekten Service und tolle Zimmer. Das Frühstück liess auch für anspruchsvolle Gäste keine Wünsche offen.

Das Hotel ist sehr empfehlenswert. Es ist sauber, das Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Auch die Zimmer sind sauber und auch gut ausgestattet. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr reichhaltig und der Speiseraum sehr hell und freundlich. Einzig die Preise für ein Abendessen sind schon recht hoch.
