Swamp Rabbit Inn Travelers Rest

This was the worst experience have ever had at a hotel. The check-in time that was provided was incorrect as was the email provided to the hotel (apparently by the "third party booking agent" was incorrect. The owner/manager was incredibly rude and put out that I wanted to confirm if we were staying there as I had not received the email from the hotel. She was so rude, in fact, that we found another hotel and were happy to pay the one night NOT to be there. DO NOT RECOMMEND Could not comment on cleanliness as we never went to room.

Arrived at Swamp Rabbit TR late evening around 8 pm after long day of travel. We booked the main house. When we unlocked our room, we found an unmade bed and dirty towels left in the bathroom. It was very disconcerting and disappointing after a long journey. Contacted Pam, who responded saying that the housekeeper "must have missed it" referring to the room. She offered a full refund. Never received refund. I followed up multiple times and different methods of contact. Poor customer service and bad experience. Do not stay here.

I rented the cottage for two days as a stopover returning from Connecticut on our way to Florida after the holidays. I have rented a room in the main house before for an employee and he refused to stay there again. After staying here two days with my Wife and two young Daughters, I’ll never return and now know why my employee wanted to stay at the Days Inn. This place is so dirty words can’t really describe it. It’s a charming cottage at first glance but once you actually use the place you’ll find broken and dirty silverware, pots and pans and a floor that turns your white socks black. Tonight was the most disgusting night of the two nights when my daughter had left a plate of food on the kitchen counter to find it covered with cockroaches!!! The pillows, and comforters smell like BO and there’s hairs everywhere. Truly disgusting. I had no clue how bad it was and after checking in from a 16 hour drive we just went straight to bed exhausted. The property is neglected and I feel weird even writing this review after speaking with the owner or manager Pam who was so awesome on the phone. Really super sweet. That’s why I’m so shocked at the condition of this $250 a night property. We’re all petrified the cockroaches will be in our luggage and we’ll take the home with us. I wouldn’t stay here again…even for free. Sad, because it’s truly a charming property.

We received great communication and the coach house was beautiful and clean. The property is across the street from the Swamp Rabbit Trail so you can bike in and out for the trail or food or really anything you need. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back.
