Positives: The location was fabulous and enough parking. We thought that the variety of cabins/rooms and tent/caravan accessibility was a great asset to the accommodation. The hosts were very lovely. Beds were comfy and well made. The shower pressure was excellent. It was a quiet area. Negatives: Advertised as air-conditioned but there was no air-conditioner in the room.

The campsite overall was decent, but there were a couple of issues. The bright light that stayed on all night was a bit much, and it made its way right through the tents, impacting our sleep. The cleanliness of the bathrooms left much to be desired during our entire stay. On the bright side, I did catch someone restocking the toilet paper and paper towels. However, the quick wipe-down of the sink felt a bit insufficient. It would be great if they could step up the cleaning game. Moreover, having only two showers for all the campers was a bit inconvenient, especially during peak times. It'd be a major improvement to have more shower facilities. Additionally, a changing room would be a welcome addition for campers looking for a bit of privacy while freshening up.

Good size room which was very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and shower pressure was great. Only there for one night so just a place to rest before driving on but would happily stay again.

We met friends in the restaurant. Turing is a small town and this is without doubt the best offering in the area. The food was very good as was the service. I had a pork chop which was well cooked with fresh veg. Fellow diners also gave good accounts of their experience.

A good place to stay, quiet, clean, easy to to walk into town and go fishing from. We stayed eight days in a camper van. The restaurant is very good. The fishing shop in town is good and very helpful and got us a wonderful fishing guide. It is a good place to hole up in.

Great restaurant. Nice comfortable rooms Peaceful surroundings with trees and plenty of space. Swimming pool and hot tub ensure a relaxed experience. Friendly staff who really look after you. We will be back.

Whilst the website has some nice imagery and suggests a peaceful haven in the charming town of Turangi, beware the advertising if you are intending to camp. Plentiful motel units is the clue - this is a single night stay for people moving through, not ideal for campers at all. Whilst the space is adequate, there is no shade and nothing between you and State Highway 1 and the the non-stop juggernauts steaming and grunting past. It is very noisy, 24/7. Perhaps fine if you are in a motel unit but not if you are in a tent! The location also serves as a truck stop, and the truck noisily leaving at 4am, taking 15 minutes to run through its start up routine, ensured a very restless night. A walk into Turangi for supplies or a meal is also not on the cards - it was hard enough to drive across SH1 let alone walk. The kids were happy with the amenities though, and the lovely Waikato River Cycle Trail starts just a few metres from the site.

We stayed at Parklands a couple of years ago and had the best experience. It seems like the management has changed since then. The hosts were rude and very unhelpful. We felt like we were a major inconvenience, just being there. We had enjoyed our previous stay, we travel to the area a lot for adventure activities, but after our last experience, we won’t be back. Very disappointed!

We visited the restaurant only. Reasonable pub food and the prices were ok. However, there were no vegetarian options which is unacceptable Lucily our vegetarian friend was able to eat shellfish although she said it was too heavy encased as it was in breadcrumbs
