Northstar-Hotel

All I can say is WOW! Firstly the location, the styling and decor, the sound of the ocean right outside your window is just gorgeous! But the management team and the staff go out of their way to ensure your stay is nothing short of wonderful. We were a couple of parents on sports tour, they went out of their way to suggest catering, early breakfasts that we could order the night before. Friendly, helpful and great food too. We will certainly be back. Couldn't be more impressed.

The Northstar Hotel is as excellent as its' promotional material and website say it will be. Rooms are clean and comfortable with spectacular views, food is superb, staff is friendly, courteous, and accommodating. It is possible to walk into Umhlanga Rocks, but you can spend many hours at NorthStar simply enjoying the ambience.

Very impressed with this hotel, very well managed. Staff is competent, attentive and friendly. All rooms have ocean view; a nice detail when they designed this place. Restaurant has a nice choice for breakfast and lunch, rather limited menu for dinner, but bear in mind it is a small/micro hotel. Now we know where to stay when in Umhlanga/Durban area.

Overall what a lovely stay at Northstar. This was my third time staying here and each time I have experienced a different room which was nice. There are two dogs, Cooper and Banshee, who are welcomed guests and makes me feel at home. Sadly however they were not there this past trip. The rooms are extremely spacious, always clean and have incredible views of the ocean and beachfront. The restaurant downstairs is excellent for breakfast, lunch and dinners. Its a great atmosphere and was welcoming to see their vegetarian options. One critique was that the service and food does take long to come out so do account for this if you are in a rush. But apart from that, a great experience. Overall, the staff are friendly and always willing to help.

We were booked to stay in June for a night but had to cancel due to a medical procedure. They would not reimburse any of our R4500 (approx) and to be fair, they did say at booking they would not past a certain timeline. They did say I could credit it to another person who lives in KZN so we booked for her. She called in to change the date, it was verbally approved (like many hotels) but when she arrived, booked out. She rebooked for August while there in person but after many conversations with the hotel over email, they say it is not true that she rebooked. Clearly a mistake was made by staff, which happens, but they are not very hospitable and say it not possible a mistake was made on their side. It looks beautiful online but terrible customer experience.

Fantastic establishment with very friendly and efficient service! The restaurant and food is highly recommended. No need to go anywhere else for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Clean and modern rooms with unbelievable views. Hope to be back soon.

Best location so close to the beach. You can´t come closer and the nicest view. Service was excellent and the food tasted so good. The kids loved the pool. We can really recommended this hotel. They have also that you can get a massage.

The best end to a glorious African Journey. The best chill days!! The staff were amazing. Location and amenities were superb!! If you love the beach and beautiful amenities, this is a must staya! Certainly a highlight of my African journey!
