Smile Hotel Wakayama

Wonderful experience- large room, great breakfast! Everything is really clean. Staff helpful . I will stay here again. Plus view to wakayama castle is the best

Kind front desk. Lovely view of Wakayama castle from the hotel room. Location is very convenient for tourists.

Smile Hotel Wakayama is conveniently located right beside Wakayama Castle, making it a great choice for sightseeing and exploring the area. Overall, we had a good stay and a pleasant experience. Although the hotel’s renovation and interior are slightly outdated, the room was still clean and comfortable. Considering the price and the excellent location, it is more than acceptable and offers great value for money. What truly stood out was the excellent service from the front desk staff. They were extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. We encountered a problem with our car during our stay, and the staff kindly assisted us by contacting the police and helping us handle the situation, which we really appreciated. Overall, it’s a great option if you’re looking for a budget-friendly hotel with a fantastic location and outstanding service.

Nice location. Close to the castle. Helpful with motorbike parking. Good amenities. Friendly staff. Japanese breakfast

If you plan to travel to Wakayama and mainly not staying inside the hotel room or mainly spend time outside, yes, it should be fine. The hotel is so old and because of that it looks dirty. Dust and mold everywhere 🤣 I stayed during Golden week in Japan which most hotels were so expensive and choose this one as it was the least expensive, it was around 13,000 per night. Overall OK, but yes, we didnt want to stay inside the room as it’s old. So if you plan to stay 1 day or you do not mind with dust and mold, it could be OK. I think regular hotel fee outside of golden week is 4-5K yen, which is make sense with this quality. Recommend only for budget travelers.
