Basic but clean place. Value for money if you are passing through (I was heading for Cradle Mountain). Staff were nice. Platypus viewing in the lake just down the road in the evening was a bonus. Waterfall is literally just across the road. Breakfast was just cereal and toast but was included so can’t complain. Recommended for budget travellers.

Accommodation l thought was overpriced, we did have a nice waterfall view from our ensuite room. This room also got us a reserved table in the dining room with the best view of the waterfall across the road. David in the bar was helpful and friendly meals were nothing close to what l would expect from a country pub

Room cold and very noisy. Smoke was coming up in the room from smokers area. Breakfast was restricted and owner very unfriendly. Would not recommend at all. Service at the bar was average with owner being extremely rude and no responses to conversation. Not very respectful at all.

We booked in November 2023 for 4 days in January 2024 but due to my wife through no fault of her own broke her ankle while hiking and we have had to cancel our trip to Tasmania. I cancelled in December 4 weeks prior to our booking and they didn't refund any of my half payment deposit. They only give a full refund up to 48 hours then its refund 50% of your nights there in my case I stay for 4 nights for $928 paid a half deposit of $464 and they took the whole $464 I'm not to happy with that I feel like I've been robbed, you would think 4 weeks is enough notification everyone else I booked with has been understanding and returned all money I used for deposit except for Biscoff Just be aware they will take your money for no service provided

Beautifully appointed room with spa bath. Bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. We had the Commercial room on the ground floor near to the entrance to the hotel so I was expecting some noise from hotel patrons in the evening but we didn’t hear a thing. The hotel serves coffee as well as normal alcoholic beverages and the dining menu is basic good hotel/pub food. Continental breakfast was included and was adequate. There were options for cooked breakfasts and lunch hampers to be ordered the night before if you wanted.

This 140 year old establishment is a great place to experience. It has a comforting feel to it despite being gradually renovated. The bedroom was entirely adequate with a small en suite and plenty of bedding is provided for the cold nights that can beset Waratah. The bar food was typical country pub fare. A continental breakfast is included in the room tariff and a cooked breakfast can be had for a modest additional charge. The room tariff and food and bar charges were all very reasonable. But what really made our stay memorable was the genuinely friendly and welcoming staff.

These folks put us up at late notice (booked in with a panicked 7pm call). Two twin rooms, clean and tidy, clean bathrooms separate men’s and women’s, separate shower cubicles). The bar food was good, too. Even the view of Waratah falls from the front lounge, and one of our rooms, was great.

There is not much in the way of dining options in Waratah other than the dining room at this hotel. We had both lunch and dinner here whilst staying in town for a couple of nights: and it was good. It is a nice venue with friendly staff/owners. A good but limited menu with plenty of gluten free options all at reasonable prices. Enjoyed eating here: it was a pleasant stroll from the caravan park.

This is one of the worst places I’ve eaten and stayed at for dinner time, the food was absolutely shocking, dry and overcooked, the owners are rude abnoxious and arrogant, the hotel is old and run down and far too expensive for what you get.
