Unfortunately I was very unimpressed with the food. Not only was a made to feel like a person with 2 heads when asking to dine as a solo person. The wait staff seemed to have little experience so even in a pretty empty restaurant there were long waits. The food was also very expensive for the quality. I had a prawn dish that had 4 prawns. The main dish I selected on the menu was 12 hour braised ox cheeks, to be told it was actually brisket (for the same price) but I have no idea what arrived. I couldn't cut the meat it was like rubber. I wish I was exaggerating! I got someone's attention and said I'm afraid I can't eat this, I can't even cut it. The staff, though confused asked if I wanted the chef to cook another one. I asked only if it wouldn't be the same as this or I'd order something else. She came back saying it had been taken off the menu. So sausage and mash it was.... what can go wrong with that. Nothing really, but it was hotter than hell and so bland. I wouldnt be surprised if it was just microwaved. The mash wasn't even "real" potatoes. Felt a bit like weatherspoon quality with quadruple the price tag.

Popped in for a quick bite and a pint. Oh dear, not that sort if place. Bistro/tapas menu, no sandwiches or simple food. No kids options. This is a place you might pop into on your way to or from the west country, but like most of the people who did while I was there, they left and went elsewhere as nothing suitable on the menu. The location is fantastic for catching travelling trade. One look at the menu however and and back in the car an check out the local supermarket or the other pubs you will come across within a few minutes drive. I used to love this place but it is now a place out of time and totally wrong for locals or passing trade. In the middle of Dorchester it might have a place but its not there. Having said that, we stopped for a pint and a snack, the beer was not great but okay, I guess they don’t sell enough to look after it properly and the food was miserly but quite tasty. It might survive the summer but without a family friendly menu, I doubt it will survive in its present form. It is no longer a village pub in any sense of the word. In summary: Beer, good choice but average quality Food, avent garde with some good choices, maybe if you are staying locally for an evening meal. Good quality, tasty but limited for daytime passing trade.

Decided to try this for a breakfast as our favourite breakfast places are either closed on Mondays, or overrun with tourists at this time of year. Was happy to see the Coach House up and running again now it has been revamped (used to use it a lot in the Coach & Horses incarnation!). The decor is now lovely, and the staff were friendly, if seemingly a little overwhelmed at dealing with the handful of tables eating breakfast. My smoked salmon was really lovely - proper chunks of smoked salmon fillet rather than wafer-thin slices, although I was expecting more than one slice of toast for the price. Similarly my OH declared his Full English very tasty, but was bemused by the scrambled egg looking like it was literally one egg, scrambled. Overall, a nice change and I would return, although maybe for a lunch or dinner next time

Absolutely stunning food and presentation, well worth a visit if you’re passing through (we had the pork baguettes the chips were stunning). Very tasty and very clean throughout. Car parking available and staff very helpful with all your needs 😊

We visited as a group of 8 and although there were very few people there when we arrived we waited nearly 20 minutes to be given menus and offered drinks. Some of us chose the carvery which was average at best. The meat was very tough and all veg seemed to be in a cheese sauce. We skipped puddings as everything was taking too long so can’t comment on what they were like. We visited after recommendations but would not return.

Me and my wife stayed her for our 1st wedding anniversary with our 1 year old puppy! I was a bit worried about staying in a dog friendly palace as I was worried about it being unclean, wow was I wrong this place is spotlessly clean, it’s smells and looks clean! The bed was super comfortable, there was bottles of water, tea and coffee, big tv and Netflix, hairdryer, big wardrobe and a blue tooth mirror in the bathroom to play music.. The breakfast was lovely and fresh, we had a full English and there was freshly baked croissants and Choco au pains, cereal and yogurts! The food was delicious and the staff couldn’t do enough, so friendly and very polite! We will be back for a longer stay!

This is a coaching inn in a busy A road which serves food all day and also offers accommodation. I stopped only for breakfast but was very impressed. There is a large car park, the place is attractive and well laid out and the food was freshly cooked and served piping hot.

Amazed at the standard of this carvery. Cannot comment on anything else as we only had this buy by god it was the best carvery we have had. Absolutely no boring plain boiled veg here. Everything was delicious and far exceeded plated roasts we have had elsewhere. This carvery needs to be shouted about by the pub as I don't feel enough people know just how good it it. We will most definitely be back for it without a doubt as it cannot be beaten

Very disappointed with the lunch we had. We ordered a hot pork and apple sauce baguette and a hot beef and horseradish baguette. To be fair, that is what we received but unfortunately, the part baked baguette (that you can buy in the supermarket) was just that, part baked: the inside was claggy where it had not been cooked fully. The pork and beef were sliced meats you would get from the average supermarket and the apple and horseradish sauce was scarce (no fear of the horseradish blowing your head off, you could barely taste it). It came with crisp and side salad which consisted of just leaves. Sorry Coach House, you need to do better than this if you want my custom again.
