Old pub in the heart of town. I booked for 3 nights and for $50 a night, I wasn't expecting The Ritz. The accommodation is on the first floor, above the bar areas, so it can be a bit noisy if you're planning an early night. My room contained two single beds, a bunk bed, ceiling fan and a sink with separate hot and cold taps (the cold didn't work). It was not airconditioned, nor were the beds fitted with electric blankets. Having said that, extra blankets were supplied and I was not cold despite the fairly cool temperatures outside. There were no wardrobes or drawers and the carpet has seen better days. The shared bathroom/toilet area has been renovated and was as good as you might expect in a motel offering private facilities (and charging considerably more). TV, microwave oven and tea/coffee making facilities were available in the guests/residents lounge area. I only ate at the pub on one occasion. The menu is fairly typical pub bistro food and reasonably priced. I enjoyed the schnitzel I ordered. Breakfast is not served at the pub, but the early-opening River Cafe across the road fills that void very well. Boys, if you're looking for a cheap, no-frills stay in Maclean, this is the place for you (but perhaps not the wife and kids).
