Fantastic stay at The Grand. We had booked a suite but it was not one of the modernised rooms like we had hoped for. We went to reception and was greeted by India who kindly gave us options of 2 other rooms to move to and let us view both before choosing. The room we picked was fantastic, so modern, comfortable and even had kitchen facilities which was an added bonus. It was lovely to sleep in such a comfortable bed and not be disturbed by any street noise or noise from other guests. We went out for dinner and was surprised to come back to see we’d had a turn down service and little chocolates left on the pillows. Just little touches like this make you want to return and recommend to others. We would definitely stay here again, the service from all staff, but especially India, was fantastic!
The staff were so very nice, nothing was too much trouble, we arrived with two small dogs and they were treated like royalty, Kim and Maria behind reception and also Maria who served us in the buffet were so nice and even though Maria was off duty (from the buffet in the morning)that evening she helped Kim out when I had a problem with the tv, and they sorted a new one out straight away. We fully intend to use the hotel again next time we are traveling that way. The hotel have exceptional great staff
An excellent 'home from home' stay and a great location. It's a short walk to the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway.
A warm friendly welcome on arrival and we were shown immediately to our room.
Our room (No6) has a great view and is spacious and bright. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. Tea & Coffee making facilities along with biscuits were appreciated.
The ensuite bathroom was spacious too and had complimentary toiletries.
The breakfast was lovely, so many choices to pick and the portions were generous.
A great place to stay!!
A 2nd stay at the Hampton by Hilton Piccadilly as this is a great hotel to be near the town centre . We stayed to visit the xmas market which was in walking distance. All the sights are within walking distance too . Very clean and everything you need. Breakfast was also lovely with plenty to choose from. Staff are lovely and helpful. Will deffinately stay again.
A lovely hotel in a really good location. Not that far from the railway station and close to the shambles, Christmas market, jorvic centre and the minster. The room was very spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The 1 thing I did notice was that the room is exactly as it shows on the booking site pictures - and when I say exactly I mean exactly! It's as if the housekeeping staff use the photos as a reference for how the room is supposed to look. The last thing is the price. We was on a room only basis, but for a room overlooking the river Ouse in that location it was a brilliant price and the cheapest of any of the nearby other hotels I looked at prior to booking. Will definitely stay here again when next visiting York.

Excellent
IInvitéOn the surface, this cozy place is probably a good bet for a stay in York. It's just enough outside of the city center to avoid all the tourists, but close enough to walk right in. The reservation process was great and the price is good. It's supposed to be a 4 star hotel and, in many senses, it lives up to that status. The staff is excellent. The food and coffee is very good and everyone is very attentive. The rooms are immaculate (heated bathroom floors are amazing!) and the amenities are great. That all said, there are some issues . Often the staff cleans the front area in the middle of the afternoon, which is a rather inconvenient time to clean as it is disruptive to the guests. Though the summer would be different, it was in the low 40's when we were there and heating in the lobby doesn't seem to be a priority for the hotel. We had to have someone set up a space heater for us in the tea room so we could stay warm, which was a bad look (tacky) for them. The biggest issue, however, we that they held a wedding event on the second say we were there. While it's completely understandable for hotels to host events, this particular location is ill suited to do so given the noise level of the event and the small quarters of the hotel. They had a live band, which sent the music to most of the rooms, making sleeping nearly impossible. Though they did move our room, we still heard the band, who played until almost midnight. Having a bunch of wedding guests being loud all lover the hotel also didn't help. The staff agreed with my assessment, which was to either not have events at all or, if they do, block out the rooms from being rented since it is impossible to merge the hotel with an event space. it's just too small. Ultimately, they need to make a decision about who they are as a brand, event space or 4 star hotel. I'd pitch they choose hotel because that is what it really is.
IInvitéNice hotel room with a nice view. Only downside was the parking space was quite small. Finding parking was difficult. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much.
IInvitéIt was an ok stay but for us we didn’t realise we booked when the football was on and the away fans had pretty much booked the hotel and to say it was noisy was an understatement.
Staff were friendly enough but didn’t ask us if we wanted Breakfast or if we had stayed there before so seemed pretty sub standard and not really that invested in what they were doing.
We had planned to use the pool but some local kids sneaked in and used it making it loud and unusable during our stay they were just causing problems and the hotel didn’t act.
This is the biggest failing the hotel fails to act we had loud guests door slamming music playing loud football fans going mad till 4am and nothing was done about it.
The beds were not that comfy as sadly neither of us had a good nights sleep on top of the noise by others the rooms offered no sound proofing.
No air conditioning which is crazy in this day and age and not even a fan in the room, when we asked for one we just got laughed at and told good luck with that by housekeeping.
This places lacks staff that care or take pride in their work.
The bathroom had no fan so when used steam went everywhere and the water pressure and temperature was terrible it wasn’t overly clean so couldn’t use the bath.
Only thing going for this hotel is it’s location but we wouldn’t use it again as the rooms need a lot of TLC and the staff need extra training more so on the communication front.
Upon check out we weren’t even asked did we enjoy our stay as we wanted to raise our concerns.
LLouise HikkThe hotel is perfectly situated for exploring sights of Harrogate everything very nearby!
From checking in and our room available early with welcome cookies which were warm and amazing to checkout the staff could not be more helpful!
The room was on the third floor clean, tidy and well presented.
The gym and spa facilities were all good and nice to use and relax especially on a Sunday evening!
The breakfast was buffet with a selection of hot and cold options the parcel machine was my favourite fresh pancakes which were delicious!
This hotel is huge but it's well maintained clean tidy and such an enjoyable experience for our anniversary!
IInvitéBreakfast was very disappointing, basic options of hot food (no bacon, mushrooms, black pudding or hash browns). Waiting for baked beans for 15 minutes, ran out of orange juice, bread, butter and plates and had to ask for cups, the coffee was made up in flasks as the coffee machine was out of order. Considering this is self service the staff should be able to keep everything replenished. I wouldn’t pay for breakfast again as not worth the cost.
IInvitéConveniently located for the shops and convention centre. The room was pretty basic, but was clean and was all I required. Staff were friendly and helpful, I was able to store my luggage an hour before check in, and again after checking out, so I could have a walk around before getting my train.
IInvitéOverall, everything is very good. the room is clean, the environment is nice, and free coffee is provided every day. The only small issue is that the exhaust fan in the bathroom is a bit loud.
However, I had one unpleasant experience with a female staff member (curly long hair), her customer service attitude was very poor, and she didn’t apologize for her mistake. On the other hand, another male staff member was very friendly and helpful, which I really appreciated.
