Hotel just in right position opposite the morning fish market. Hotel room also not small wide and big enough for 2 persons
Good services from staff.
And parking also available (¥1000)
Wonderful hotel, very clean, comfortable and great location.
The front desk staff was just lovely and made us feel very welcomed and helped us with parking our bicycles in a secure and sheltered area.
100% would come back.
1. There’s pickup and dropoff for Echigo stn
2. No shoes allowed beyond the hotel entrance
3. Front desk have a local Japanese staff that can speak English. Pretend to be nice not. Anything else , he will tell you don’t know. Go find yourself. Besides selling tickets that he will earn money. You’ll get no information from him
4. 1st day check-in, my in room hot spring tub is slimy n dirty stained wil algae. I scrub a lot out and took video. Same Japanese man came and nothing. Till I show him the algae I’ve scrub and the video, he kept quiet. Housekeeping do scrub off within 30mins
5. Breakfast is same everyday
6. Dinner, slight changes but still 99% same.
7. Child meal is hopeless.
Stayed for 5nights, same meals daily.
8. Want to bring a cake to dinner to celebrate my Daughters Birthday, we were forbidden to do so. Nothing besides what they bring to you.
9. Onsen was good
10. Basic ice cream treats.
11. Simple ramen in the evening
Hotel is too rigid. It’s really expensive during our visits. The rules at dining and the same meals daily, it’s unbearable. Kids have nothing much to eat
For the price, I’ll not stay in this rigid property. Many other Ryokan resort for lesser price and better options. It’s not ski in ski out and yet price are too high.
A nice resort with sea great view. Remarkable the big garden with the paths to the sea shore. Also the onsen is very nice. The room was spacious and equipped with beds (not futon). As entertainment they organize free trips in the evening to the ruins of a plant from the gold rush times, where they display a beautiful illumination. Also some ladies perform local traditional dances in the hotel lobby, as well as a Saxophone player gave a half hour performance. However, after the performances were finished, the bar became deserted and no further service available. All in all a comfortable stay.
The hotel is atmosphere with a nice blend of the old and new. It is located not too far from Uonuma no Sato and have a complimentary shuttle service to and fro Hatago Isen opposite Echigo Yuzawa Station. The room is big and there is nice heated table area. The bathroom is nice but as with traditional lodgings such as this, it can be pretty cold especially at the bathroom area in winter.
Dinner was served in a bento format at our room. I was a little disappointed that it is a not a proper sit-down meal at the main dining area instead. The bento includes two generously sized onigiri, appetizers, and four main items including a meat patty, grilled fish and braised wagyu.
The onsen bath is also quite nice and loved the bath with the snowy landscaped garden.
Service is generally good and there are snacks and drinks available at the lounge for guests. In the evening, there is also sake and umeshu available for guests.

VVvvvLlllVery good deal for Ski in ski out!!
Room in building 4 is smaller than expected but no complaints with such discount.
Restaurants inside are nice, but heading out to the village once a while is good too. The walk to village is like 10 mins and very do-able!
IInvitéThe hotel is on the East side of the station which we hadn't stayed before. Its quieter then the West which was nice but still close to some restaurants and the main bus stops for ski resorts. Its about a 5 min walk from the station. We arrived and nobody was at reception and even dinging the bell we had to wait a while. It is a bit of a mess downstairs in reception with the owners clutter but that has nothing to do with your stay so not to worry. We did request a Japanese room if available but nothing was ever mentioned about that and we just got a western style twin. The owner didnt know much english so we didn't want to bother trying to explain. It was clean, neat and every day we got new towels, yukata, new tea, bed made etc. There is a dry room downstairs for your skis and boots and gear and everything was toasty and warm in the morning. You leave the key in the box when you leave each day and get it back from reception once you return, though if we went out for dinner again later or to the konbini we would just keep it on us. You have your own bathroom but they also have 1 Japanese Onsen and you can use it for private and lock the door. It was so nice to have private Onsen as we have rarely been able to have Onsen together in Japan as a couple. It is also a close walk to a Lawson so you don’t have to fight the other tourists for food at the 7 Eleven on the west side. Or you can go to Matsumoto KiYoshi at the station East side. The hotel was quiet when we were there. Perhaps there wasn't many guests or maybe they were just considerate and quiet people. I would stay here again for sure but would like to get a Japanese room next time.

SSilverGeckoThis is our 3rd week of 4 weeks exploring Japan and so far Yuzawa Grand is the best Ryokan Onsen experience we have had. We could have spent several days there it was sublime. We arrived in the morning and the staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. We had been told by the tourist centre at the train station that the gondola wasn’t operational for 3 days; however the Yuzawa Receptionist assured us that it was operating and showed us that they were even able to sell us tickets at a discount. She gave us a map and bus timetable, showing us where everything was. They stored our backpacks for us and off we went exploring and had a marvellous time. We soaked our feet in the foot baths while having a treat before catching the bus to the mountains. We came back to our gorgeous room which had a coffee pod machine in it. Was so nice having a coffee in the morning looking out the window. We enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful Onsens before dinner. The buffet at both dinner and breakfast was incredible, everything so beautifully presented and incredibly delicious.
Highly recommend this gorgeous hotel. The staff are fantastic and the ambiance very peaceful.

LLen VWe recently stayed at Hotel Okura in Niigata and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautifully situated overlooking the Shinano River, providing stunning views, especially during sunset. The location is very convenient, with easy access to the JR Niigata Train Station and Niigata Airport, making it a great base for exploring the area.
The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. We particularly enjoyed the variety of dining options available at the hotel, including a French restaurant and a Japanese restaurant.
The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We appreciated their attentiveness and willingness to assist with any requests we had.
Overall, Hotel Okura Niigata offers a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and excellent service. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Niigata.
