XXRMThis was genuinely a wonderful and most special place.
The Rocksalt Rooms are in a separate building to the Restaurant - but you check in at the latter and walk you over. Note all the streets here are cobbled, which can be slippery when wet.
They are a real BoltHole as they are described, and there are only four total. 2 on 1st floor, 2 on 2nd floor, with one per floor harbour facing. I'd definitely suggest that the upgrade is worth it.
The rooms are compact but exceptionally well presented. I've odd little niggles, theres no bedside of any kind - floating shelf would work, where do you put your mobile? And the metal bed frame is ornate and was loose on the footboard.
The biggest challenge is where to put things. There are a few hangers on the back of the door and a small set of hooks, but not a drawer or proper place at all. I get space is a real premium here - bedside with 2 drawers all you need!
The wet room is compact as everyone says. You won't keep the floor area outside the shower dry, it's not possible. The sink is a corner one with no space to place things but there is shelf in the bathroom for all your luxuries. The body wash / conditioner / hand soap / hand moisturiser are great quality.
Noise - it's by the Harbour so they start early, but for us it was part of the charm of the location, the fresh fish smell was totally incredible.
Breakfast is not to be missed, across in the restaurant with the best view, it's harbour side. Loved the granola, yoghurt, compote starter. I had English Breakfast as I was hungry, it was great quality but disappoining - it was more style over substance. The bacon is cooked to crispy, not my style at all but great quality. He had the Salmon & Eggs and it won hands down. Local, fresh, decent portion, on wonderful Sourdough. Luckily I was saved a bite.
A point or two more - the bedside light fused the circuit and the room was plunged into darkness. Looked for fuse box, could not find. Ended up in Restsurant. They had to get keys to a location they used to own but don't now (ground floor of the Rooms building). This took a while as the keys had to be obtained. I get how this used to work, but not now - the fuse box needs moving. The if we cant fix option was check out and refund - erm no!!
There is the most incredible Team member behind the Bar/ Restaurant from Bulgaria whose name I have really tsckily forgotten. For which I apologise.
She is truly wonderful and made the visit for me, id return solely to see her again!!!
Overall we loved Rocksalt Rooms and would return, to have dinner in the restaurant too!

IInvitéI really had a pleasant stay. Everything about the hotel was relaxing and although I didn’t sleep well (due to being in a different bed to my own) there was nothing I could complain about. Staff were great, breakfast was ok (selection of cooked breakfast, pastries, toast,cereals & fruit) and you’re greeted with that famous cookie! :)

UUtilisateur anonymeLa chambre était plus grande que prévu et avait une patio à se poser, le lit était confortable et tout est situé à quelques pas des chambres de mews. L'homme d'entretien a dû sortir et réparer le chauffage pour corriger la question.
La location est tout à fait incroyable et les jardins sont bien gardés.
Le restaurant gardenia est fermé quelques jours de la semaine pour dîner et aussi pour le petit déjeuner que je ne pensais pas être idéal. Pour le petit déjeuner, nous avons dû aller au sage restaurant spa qui avait une sélection très limitée de nourriture. Il y avait environ 6 plats à choisir, ils disent Le chef ne cuisine pas d'œufs cramés qui est un petit déjeuner essentiel, donc j'ai dû avoir une plaque de toast. Il y a eu un peu de déshydratation, mais il y a eu un peu de déshydratation. Je suis venu à l'hôtel il y a quelques années quand vous n'avez pas dû payer pour l'accès au spa, mais maintenant vous faites ce qui est un peu annoncé. Donc then you have either to eat very late at night or have a late lunch otherwise the £20 will not be well spent and you’d have to leave the spa after an hour

BBracewell99I had a really enjoyable stay at the Carlton Hotel in Folkestone. The hotel is in a great location, making it easy to explore the town and the seafront, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout my stay.
The room was comfortable, clean and had everything I needed for a pleasant stay. The hotel has a traditional feel, which gives it plenty of character, and overall I found it to be good value for money.
Check-in and check-out were straightforward, and the whole stay was hassle-free. I’d happily stay at the Carlton again if I’m back in Folkestone and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a convenient location.

Dans l'ensemble, j'ai trouvé le service satisfaisant. L'hôtel propose le Wi-Fi et, par conséquent, des sèche-cheveux ; c'est donc appréciable qu'il dispose des commodités de base.

CChris J HornWhat an amazing hidden gem this is. Nestled on a hill top overlooking the marshes with Warehorn church over the road, this pub with rooms is a must for a romantic get away.
We arrived early and had a drink in the bar, which is beautifully quirky, a welcoming log fire burning and a wide selection of drinks.
We had booked ”Niddy” an attic room with so much to give, a comfy bed, roll top bath, and so much character.
The only ****** I had with the room, was the W.C squeezed into the roof space it was a little awkward to stand up and wee, but that's a small thing when it comes to such a great room.
Requesting a quiet table for dinner, we were given one in a side area and again we couldn't believe it, it was super romantic and we had the whole room to ourselves. Our waiter Muli was so good, he was attentive but not intruding, and so funny, we haven't had many meals out and he really did make the evening.
The food was excellent and the vegan burger was one of the best I have had.
The location was brilliant, if you're into walking, cycling, birdwatching or wanting to visit local sites (rye was only 20min drive away)
The rest of the staff were also brilliant, and couldn't do enough for us.
We will definitely return.

The facilities were clean, well-maintained, and comfortable, which made the stay relaxing. I also enjoyed the food — there was a good variety, and everything tasted fresh. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely consider staying here again.

The spa was nice with all the facilities working properly, jacuzzi and steam rooms were hot.
The food was excellent quality, I’ve never had such a large and thick burger at any establishment but for £20 I’d expect this.
Room and cleaning was ok but a bit tired.
Lovely country pub about a five minute walk away and a large M&S and Costa next door.
The one thing that compromises the whole Orida brand is charging £6 for parking.
There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to charge this to staying customers and it’s a complete let down to the entire onsite service.
Theres no town or station within walking distance so why would you penalise your guests with this extra tax.
There’s a free car park next door in Costa or M&S so anyone using the hotel car park is clearly staying overnight.
Will not be staying again here until this is put right

IInvitéMy wife and I stayed for three nights to celebrate our anniversary. Our stay was exceptional and especially all the staff who couldn't do enough for us and with a smile and good humour. The service was spot on as was the food in the restaurant, we ate there on all three nights and enjoyed top cuisine, wines and beers. A special touch was the 'Happy Anniversary' slate with a couple of coconut ice sweets! The breakfasts were beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, although we found the bacon just slightly tough but totally edible. Superb poached eggs! As a comment fresh fish would have been a nice addition at breakfast although smoked salmon was available. The bed was very comfortable and the room spotless and with most of the facilities one would expect. It would have been helpful to have a non-slip mat for the bath as well as a grab handle for safety. Also soap dispensers next the shower would have been helpful. As the summer is extremely hot (2026) air conditioning was very welcome! The spa facilities were lovely too!
