I had a truly wonderful stay at this retreat. The place itself is absolutely spectacular — very calming, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by breathtaking views. The deck is stunning, and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The owners were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and looked after throughout my stay. Their hospitality genuinely stood out. The dogs were lovely and added so much warmth to the experience. Breakfast was excellent, and the variety of teas available was out of this world. As a female solo traveller, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and well cared for, which is something I value highly. The atmosphere is peaceful and nurturing — exactly what you want from a retreat. The only minor downside is that it’s a bit far from the shops (around a one-hour walk). However, this was easily managed as Uber is only a 6-minute drive, and the hosts were also kind enough to offer lifts when possible. Overall, an absolutely stunning place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay

The condition of the property upon our arrival was unacceptable, falling well below basic standards of cleanliness, safety, and comfort. Throughout our stay, we encountered multiple significant issues across the property: The dishwasher was completely full of standing, stagnant water upon our arrival, rendering it unusable until cleared. The cookware provided was filthy, with greasy, burnt-on residue on the pans that required scrubbing before use of which there were no cleaning products provided until asked for. There are visible holes in the walls in the home. More concerningly, bathroom light fixtures were loose and visibly hanging/falling out from the ceiling, which presents a genuine safety hazard. The general cleanliness was poor. In the bathrooms, the ceiling and roof lining showed noticeable dirt and grime build-up. The lounge suites are ripped, worn out, and actively falling apart, offering neither aesthetic appeal nor basic comfort. Furthermore, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, severely impacting our ability to sleep throughout the four nights.

The place was spacious, had a sofa that was so suitable for both laying down and sitting down all together as a family, loved it with the dinner table, the kitchen, the fridge and all the other cooking appliances with a gas stove, loved this. The bathroom was really clean and luxurious, did not expect the shower stall to have a curved door, haha. The master bedroom was cozy big and the children's bedroom caught me off guard with the size, two bunker beds and still even more space? Definitely amazing. Good TV and great internet, loved it how there was barely any weird fluctuations. Great for online games. Aside from the place, I rented the fun bikes for an hour, super enjoyable, had so much unexpected fun.

We booked two rooms at Wanaka! Walking distance to the Wanaka Tree! One night at Te Wanaka, but the warm hospitality left a lasting impression 🤍✨ Clean, spacious room and wonderful service!

Excellent location. Can walk easily down the city centre in 6-8 mins but need to walk back upwards. We used Uber a dew times (costs 10-12 NZD), tried taxi once and got charged $25! Even its quite convenient to order food via Uber eats as within 5-10 mins most restaurants are located. Overall a its a budget friendly accommodation :)

Décevant comparé aux autres hostels en Nouvelle-Zélande J’ai séjourné deux nuits au Pinewood Lodge et, malheureusement, c’est l’un des hostels que j’ai le moins appréciés durant mon voyage en Nouvelle-Zélande. Le principal problème est le manque d’infrastructures pour le nombre de voyageurs. Il n’y avait que deux toilettes et deux douches pour une douzaine de personnes, ce qui créait souvent de l’attente. La cuisine est très petite, avec peu d’espace pour stocker la nourriture (pratiquement uniquement le réfrigérateur) et un choix assez limité d’ustensiles et d’équipements pour cuisiner. La chambre était également très froide, malgré un chauffage réglé au maximum, ce qui n’a pas rendu les nuits très confortables. L’emplacement est correct, mais, pour ma part, je suis content de n’y être resté que deux nuits. Au vu de mon expérience dans de nombreux autres hostels en Nouvelle-Zélande, celui-ci ne fait malheureusement pas partie de ceux que je recommanderais en priorité.

Si vous utilisez Google Maps, vous devez vous souvenir de choisir la voie de la piétonne pour les directions. La chambre de repas était belle, mais on a trouvé quelques cheveux blonds courts sur le lit. Le petit déjeuner est assez Westernbread et jam, avec du lait ou de l'iogurt. C'est un bon endroit, adapté pour un petit coup avant le départ. A proximité de Saddle Hill est un grand endroit pour voir les lumières du Sud si le moment est correct. Vous pouvez également demander à John de conseils locaux il connaîtra peut-être les meilleurs points de vue. Merci encore à John pour son hospitalité !

Location in the outskirts of town but what a view from the hill top! Likely the best view in Dunedin. We stayed in the stables with shared bathrooms, the amazing gardens and castle is an amazing and unique experience. Kudos to the senior guard, very friendly serving staff and the cooks as well for the best breakfast on our 23 days NZ trip. Finally, fully respect the love of the owners for the castle, to try to conserve it and all revenue from the hotel and attractions is fully used to restore with loving care which is still on going

Love love love the location! ❤️ 😍 💖 2-3 minutes walk to Queenstown mall which u dont have to worry as there are shops, halal restaurants and 4 Square where u can get ur last min groceries. Also nearby the skyline which one of a MUST GO attraction in Queenstown. Big rooms and suitable for families of 4. Cozy and comfortabl beds. Staff at the reception very friendly and it makes us guests feels welcome all the time!
