Residence Inn Boise Downtown/University

This property is overdue for an upgrade. The best I can say it is minimally functional. Our unit was 2bed/2bath to share with another couple. The shared living space is really not adequate for 4 people. There is however a nice 4 person bar-height kitchen table..with only 2 chairs. We had planned to eat together..since there really is no other place in the unit to eat. (this is marketed as an extended stay property) Also no hangers in the closets? Nice coat closet but what it the point if they cannot provide hangers? Thought inadequacies were just oversights. No problem I will just ask at the front desk for the chairs and hangers..but I was advised NOPE!! Nobody gets 4 chairs..or extra hangers. Wait..a unit set up for (most likely) two couples..and nobody can project we would all like to sit at the table at the same time? Sorry, again NOBODY gets more than 2 chairs. She did offer to maybe let me have some lobby chairs but since they were not bar height, like the only table in the unit, that was an absurd alternative. So that was their final answer...until I wrote a note to corporate and suddenly "an exception could be made" and they would give me two more chairs and maybe even some hangers, like this was a HUGE favor/exception . this is the level of pettiness and penny pinching that makes me feel totally uncomfortable. No pride in anything in the property..all workmanship looks like a child did it...Oh and let's not forget their petty revenue grabbing $5 parking fee. This is not downtown where parking is a premium it is a huge and mostly empty lot but they need that extra $5 per day. This place is probably capitalizing on its proximity to the University and other popular destinations, but when I did some looking around there were similar places in better condition for less money.

The staff were very friendly however the place is a bit tired around the edges. The beds are clean and comfortable. The breakfast offering is ok..the staff in the breakfast room are very friendly....most of the food is tasteless....even the coffee is rather grim...... It is conveniently close too on and off the freeway....restaurants in the area are terrific.

Very old hotel, small bathroom and old/small toilet, AC is very noisy. Good location with a big state park near by, friendly staffs and very good breakfast. Hard to get an upgrade there regardless of your BonVoy membership level.

Stayed here for our first trip to Boise. They upgraded us to a lofted room. What a wonderful surprise! The rooms are spacious and clean. Has a full kitchen. Felt like our own condo. Loved the complementary breakfast. Everyone was friendly. Would definitely be staying here next time.

We loved our stay at this Residence Inn! The rooms were spacious with everything we needed for the night. The bed and linens were comfortable. We enjoyed the hot breakfast with multiple healthy choices like fruit and steel-cut oats with various toppings. Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. We stayed near the back on the first floor and it was quiet there. Kudos to housekeeping as the room was immaculate! We'll be back.

Staff was very helpful, breakfast was much better than expected and location was great for our needs. As residence Inns go this was about as good as I have experienced in a long while. Staff was more helpful than I typically find at many five star hotels thus the high rating.

We decided to leave a day early to Boise before our AirBnB would be ready. We were heading to Boise to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We were greeted with birthday wishes, a birthday card and gift, and an upgrade to a two story room. Yes this is an “old school” Residence Inn, but the rooms and the grounds feel fresh, new and are super clean. And our room was incredibly quiet with a beautiful view of Anne Morrison Park. Close to downtown and just a couple blocks from the Boise Greenbelt, I am pretty certain our next Boise stay will be here.

Sometimes one phone call to one person makes all the difference. I was confused by this property's pet policy and also had several other questions. Ofa picked up the phone late at night, listened carefully, cheerfully answered all of my questions and took care of my concerns. What an outstanding first impression for this hotel. Thank you Ofa!
