Villa Lara Hotel

This bed and breakfast was nothing short of amazing. The staff, service, view, cleanliness, etc were fabulous. The location was perfect, tucked away in the street of Amalfi. We woke up every morning and Luca/Nello were so accommodating. They had a small breakfast spread waiting for us. They made us Americanos/cappuccinos. All SO good! Valeria scheduled all of our private transfers. She was extremely helpful and answered all questions/requests along with the rest of the staff. The view every morning, the charming patio, and kindness of everyone will hold a special place in our hearts. We will no doubt come back here when back in Amalfi!

We had a great stay at Villa Lara, the location is lovely with a great view and a wonderful terrace to enjoy it! Luca and Nello look after your every need, and make you feel most welcome. The rooms are lovely and appear recently done up. Would highly recommend!

I couldn't be happier with our stay at Villa Lara. It's the cutest hotel in Amalfi with a magnificent view. It's up in the mountain, so it was very quiet and peaceful there. The staff are amazing and extremely helpful and friendly. Luca, Valaria and Nello are amazing. It was always a pleasure to talk to them. They were always very helpful with a big smile on their faces. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and we had everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing every morning. I highly recommend this hotel. I cant wait to return to Amalfi and stay at Villa Lara again.

The best stay ever! If you are looking for a local spot this is the place to be. The staff was more than accommodating and friendly. 10/10 recommendation. Must stay here if in Amalfi. Famiglia per tutta la vita

Although looks difficult to find it’s actually fine. Coming through gate and along a tunnel to the lift. Room very clean and well organised. Big room. Hooked up to Netflix Internet good Breakfast was sweet and staff extremely helpful. Lovely view over Amalfi sitting on veranda. Someone always at the desk to help/ advice Thanks xxx

I reserved a room on the hotel website 3.5 months in advance for two nights. Two days before, I get an email stating they made a mistake and can only give us a room the first night. Mario states “and the second night in our sister hotel next road at same price.” I reply asking them to specify sister hotel. I never get response to email. I get phone call night before reservation asking if I got email. I state I responded and want to know name of sister hotel. She says she will provide and never does. Day of reservation we drive car and try to call hotel phone number over five times and no answer. At gate to hotel they respond to intercom. I am still not allowed in locked gate or told where parking is. Rather, I am told someone will come to valet park car. Why would I do that with rental car, having not even seen hotel, room, reception and not knowing what second night lodging I will have? Also valet parking is not indicated on website. It may be nicely located but hotel access and parking are definitely issues. I ask to talk with manager and there is none until tomorrow. I leave in frustration. I NEVER get beyond the locked gate; the manager never calls me but my CREDIT CARD is CHARGED. VERY CREEPY and disturbing. Why would a nice hotel treat a customer so poorly?

My family and I had booked two rooms with Villa Lara. However after the booking was made, the hotel allocated us rooms different to what we ordered. The booking site had a facility to contact the hotel directly. The hotel was not pleased with our query, and the responses were less than adequate. After a few weeks we were told that the hotel couldn’t confirm my credit card used for the booking as it was invalid. I use the credit card regularly and it has never been refused, I continue to use it without any difficulty. The site requested that I update details or I would lose the booking in the next 24 hours. I updated my credit card details on the website for a number of consecutive days, but eventually got fed up with this and give up. I was then told that my booking was cancelled. It seems to me that they did not have the rooms they originally offered. When this was followed up, I believe that they used the ‘invalid credit card and need to update’ process to get me to give up and enable them to ultimately cancel my booking. I was left with a sense of very little trust for this hotel, and would advise anyone to be very careful making a booking with them. I can see from looking at another review that I was not the only one to go through this type of experience with Villa Lara.

Our stay at Villa Lara was perfect! The staff are amazing people. Luca, Nello, Valeria, and the cleaning staff at Villa Lara are very warm and welcoming. Everything from coordinating car service, to our breakfast needs, to any extras we needed for the room, and the amazing conversations we would have every morning at breakfast made our stay such a great experience. They also have great knowledge of the areas and the recommendations they gave us were spot on! We felt like friends instead of guests. This was such a perfect experience for us and exactly what we were looking for. They even gifted us a bottle of lemoncello in our room because it was my wife and I's honeymoon. The location is perfect. Just out of the way of all the crowds but close enough to everything in the Almafi and the ferries are super close as well. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Almafi. This was the start of our honeymoon trip and as we made our way to other hotels and areas in the Almafi we kept saying that we wished we stayed longer and that we wish the other hotel's staff were are great as Villa Lara's. Dont hesitate book a room (and no I am not being paid for this. It was that great!). Another thing that was amazing was we left an item in our room and Nello was kind enough to help get it delivered to us at another hotel. Exceptional service for sure!
