Villa Colonial

You feel at home immediately you enter reception and meet the welcoming staff. The grounds are lovely with a beutiful views of the Volcanoes from restaurant and garden. The rooms have been quirkily set out as streets of houses with a cobbled road (not great for wheeling a suitcase especially when you are right at the back!). Our room was in a small courtyard containing several others on two storeys, it comprised two double beds with ample space adn a large shower/loo area. A hairdryer was provided and water stations were plentiful outside. This unfortunately is where the cons kick in, our room was situated right at the far left of the complex and a busy noisy road ran alongside so during it was very noisy both day and night! Maybe ask for a room on the garden side of the complex which should be quieter! There is a nice pool and the open fronted restaurant has stunning views of Volcano Fuego - which was kindly puffing smoke during our visit! Breakfast was served to order, only 3 choices - We had Omlette - ham/cheese or cheese/spinach - served with mashed beans, tortilla and hot plantain - juice - tea -coffee. It was reasonable but service was very slow especially for tea refils. Overall a nice hotel, with pleasant staff but situated a good 25 minutes walk from the town centre which given the traffic noise is not much of a plus. Would we stay again ? - yes but we would request rooms next to the garden which I suspect were much quieter. Also meaning we didn't have to negotiate the cobbled street with our wheelie bags.

Nice cozy hotel for spending a weekend and escaping from the daily rush. Super clean and very friendly staff. Indoor parking which is a plus. They have a nice patio inside which resembles a classic Antigua Park. Rooms are cozy, clean and they have a nice shower. Overall a nice place to stay with the family or that significant other.

I have just returned to the U.S. after leading a team of 31 people who served in an around Chimaltenango. We stayed for 7 nights at the Villa Colonial hotel. This is an excellent place to stay, all across the board. The staff team did a wonderful job of accommodating us (with all of our needs, too!). The breakfast served each morning was great. The rooms clean, comfortable, and spacious. The area surrounding the hotel was safe, quiet, and beautiful. I would absolutely recommend Hotel Villa Colonial and have every intention of returning with another team next year.

Our group of ten people stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a mission trip. The hotel was very nice and comfortable, with beautiful grounds and a relaxing feel. Our kids appreciated the small pool and we enjoyed both breakfast options (pancakes or traditional breakfast of eggs, beans, plantains, and fruit). The staff was very helpful, as one in our group was sick and confined to the room and they brought him food, even customizing their available menu to try to get him something he could eat. That was very much appreciated! The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of outlets to recharge phones. The only negative thing was that the shower didn't drain well, but that was a minor inconvenience. We felt the city was very walkable and felt safe even at night. I would stay here again.

The facility itself is beautiful. Great design with nice buildings with an antique feel, lovely garden, and nice swimming area in the far corner. The rooms are fine. Spacious with excellent shower/bath with working hot water. TV worked fine and upstairs rooms have a nice balconey overlooking the grounds. The restaurant has a limited menu, but the meals are safe and good tasting. The staff is friendly but not as efficient as most Western tourists expect. The main liability is its distance from central Antigua, but we had to stay here due to the vast number of tourists during Easter week. (We did have a procession pass by our first night, however)

Stayed two nights. Room smelled like old, wood furniture. I even had freshener and it didn’t help. I constantly had the windows open which was an inconvenience as anyone walking by could look in. Beds were comfortable and outlets right behind each bed! Basic bathroom; no toiletries. You must ask for room cleaning. Breakfast only has two options: pancakes or eggs w beans. You can walk to town center but it’s scary to walk at night. Not sure this was a real pool; seemed more for decoration. Great Italian restaurant next door and small store at corner for snacks.

O Hotel é maravilhoso, estilo colonial da época áurea da cidade de Antígua. Fica a pé do centro da cidade. O quartos são grandes, decorados com móveis coloniais, com conforto e bom gosto. O banheiro é bom, com banheira e iluminação natural. Mas o café da manhã é um experiência gastronômica maravilhosa. Adoramos tudo, os jardins magníficos, a hospitalidade, o coreto e o charme do local.

Me había hospedado en la Villa de Santa Catarina y me fascinó el lugar y las comodidades que brinda, así que estaba emocionada de conocer Villa Colonial en Antigua Guatemala, sin embargo hay poca atención al detalle y para nada cómodo. La atención no es mala pero el lugar descuidado.

O hotel fica afastado do centro turístico de Antígua, você vai ter que pegar táxi para ir e voltar para o hotel, quarenta quetzal para tal (janeiro 2023). O café da manhã é servido por garçom, o que pode atrasar seu tempo. A habitação tem um espaço bom, porém durante o dia você tem que ficar com as cortinas fechadas, as pessoas passam do lado (calçada) e podem ver dentro de sua habilitação. Localização geográfica é essencial, não ficaria no hotel novamente. A agência do Brasil não colaborou.
